  1. Sick of saying it, but I obviously need to keep saying it as the bloody manager keeps picking him, Gallagher is one of the worst players I've ever seen in a Rovers shirt in over fifty years of watching the Club. A lack of technical ability you can maybeforgive if a player puts a shift in but this guy is 6 ft 5 and doesn't even put himself about. Unforgiveable. Also losing faith in JDT, any manager worth his salt would have sussed Gallagher out within 5 minutes of walking through the door, got his wages off the wage bill and traded him for a viable option up front. We've got rid of Mowbray (thankfully) but other than that what has changed? We're still watching some of the same substandard players and are foolishly relying on a shit loanee from Liverpool to run the midfield. For better or worse, I'd rather see Adam Wharton in there gaining vital experience, if we don't go up, what use is it to us when Morton returns to Liverpool. And what the hell is Broughton doing? Half way through the month and barely a sniff of a player. Why would we need another centre half anyway? S Wharton and Ash Phillips can barely get any game time as it is. We need one if not two strikers who know where the back of the net is and someone to add a bit of steel to the midfield. I used to hang my hat on Mowbray leaving but that's been and gone and nothing else really appears to have changed - except we appear to have brought in another chancer (Broughton) who is wittering on about "projects" several years down the line. I'm amazed anyone is taken in by this sort of talk after being hoodwinked with it by Mowbray for four years. All that is required is to win as many football matches as possible as soon as possible in a genuine attempt to gain promotion as soon as possible. End of. No more nebulous talk of "projects"with a distant completion date in an attempt to excuse poor performance in the present, we've just wasted four years on that
  2. Sorry can you respace, issues with the site again. Same as before. Can't quote either.
  3. The rumours of a £2m bid for Cantwell can't be true, Gav says we've no money. Just like he said we'd no money for weeks in the summer before we went out and spent £6.5 m. On the player himself, good at one time, dont know enough about him now to pass judgment other than that I was told he was an initial target in summer. For some reason that went cold back then so I'm not sure why the situation should be any different now. Would there be an obvious Broughton/Norwich connection to that if it happen
  4. Disagree, Hirst, Szmodics, Mola? Only Hyam could be classed as a good signing. Need a much much better January window
  5. Like the summer window when we saw £6.5m spent and no major sales you mean?
  6. Sorry the site is playing up again for me like it did a while ago.
  7. Not this again, Kaminsky's decent, probably looks better than he actually is by virtue of coming in immediately after the calamitous Walton but he's nowhere near being in Raya's class imo. Anyhow I believe we do have a surprisingly large sell on clause in our favour as regards Raya so I hope he secures a massive move to one of the "big" Clubs ASAP.
  8. Great result and very winnable game in the next round as well. A good afternoon.
  9. I'd say Wharton is better than Garrett and Garrett is better than Morton personally.
  10. So it's also his job not to score or get into positions from which he is more likely to score either then? The player you describe above sounds like a holding midfielder to me.
  11. Not his job to chase back into defensive areas. If he was prepared to throw his weight about in and around the opposition penalty area that might be a different matter.
  12. Eek. Last time that happened a couple of winters ago, surveyor's were casting their beady eyes over Brockhall trying to assess how many new houses they could shoehorn onto it.
  13. You keep saying this, are you deliberately taking the **** to wind people up? Happy New Year to you and Debs BTW. 👍
  14. Lies, damn lies and statistics etc. If you extrapolated that back to last season under Slowbray I'm pretty certain you'd find that the opposite was the case. A really switched on Head Coach/DOF would be moving heaven and earth this January to cut our losses slightly, get him off the wage bill and give us a bit more wiggle room.
  15. They did in summer to be fair To the tune of around £6.5m. However most of it went on Szmodics, Hirst and a RB who has barely featured. The recruitment needs to be far better this month.
  16. Sarcasm does not become you. Happy New Year anyway.
  17. I'll have a pint of what you're on.
  18. Completely unconvincing but my god we needed that. Was a "must win" game if ever there was one. How the fuck does Gallagher play every minute of every game unless injured? He doesn't have a single redeeming quality, at least Chris Brown used to attempt to put himself about physically, Gallagher doesn't even do that. Thought Garrett did well, game to forget, three points, move on.
  19. Christ what a waste, of a wage and squad place Hirst is going to be.
  20. Hyam is no worse than Lenihan but not as good as Van Hecke imo. Theoretically Brittain could offer more than Nyambe going forward but given expectation levels when he arrived he's been a colossal disappointment imo. It wouldn't matter if you were Roberto Carlos if you're always injured and I'd say he's been a downgrade on the Nyambe of last season. Szmodics looks a really poor signing at an inflated price and is a massive downgrade on Rothwell imo. Morton has imo been average and is preventing the better Adam Wharton from getting game time. Hirst has been an unmitigated disaster and Mola has been very disappointing. I'd say only Hyam could so far be described as a good signing with Morton coming in as OK. With the benefit of hindsight a very poor return from the summer's recruitment and we need to do much better in January imo
  21. I would add from the same sort of era Jack Nicklaus in golf. Quite weird that He, Pele and Ali were born so close to one another.
  22. Looking at it purely from the outside and the demeanour of the players in recent games I'd say it's a valid concern. Possibly they're not having the way they're being asked to play than JDT personally. Or maybe both? Who knows
  23. Whilst I don't like Maradona (at all) I'd probably have them as four of my five greatest ever footballers as well Merce. My 5th would be Cruyff. I've never seen anyone with the ability he had to take a game by the scruff of the neck and completely dominate it. Pele takes the title of the greatest for me though, such a humble person and off the field he completely transcended the sport much like Muhammad Ali.
  24. Surprised this news hasn't had more reaction, by far the greatest player of all time for me. I think it's pointless trying to compare one generation with another as there's absolutely nothing to say that stars of the past such as Pele or say George Best wouldn't still have been the best around in today's game given the advances in diet, equipment technology, pitches, training methods etc available now. I'm wouldn't argue with anyone who said Messi was the GOAT but I'm sticking with Pele. I think he gets a raw deal through many people not being old enough to have seen him play and the footage of him being so limited. Following the 1970 World Cup I remember aged 6 trailing my Dad round the sports shops in town trying to find a Brazil shirt. A fruitless task - no such thing as replica kits in those days - how times change! Also enjoyed his cameo appearance in the Mike Bassett film. For anyone who doesn't know a great deal about his career or the sort of man he was I'd heartily recommend his autobiography "Pele - my Life and the Beautiful Game". RIP.
