  1. If Rovers had any sense the bonuses would only take effect for players still under contract after the start of next season so that the out of contract 3 would need to sign a new deal to be eligible. The deals could also incorporate a hefty increase in the event of promotion.
  2. That's my view on it as well exactly Tom. I'm fairly sure that in years to come vaping will be deemed to be harmful in much the same way as smoking and that the Companies in question will face litigation. The people that started it off won't care as they'll have made their millions and will probably be long gone. Meanwhile the history books will probably look back on this as a particularly ignominious period in our shirt sponsorship history. Out of interest, any other professional football Clubs been desperate enough to have a vaping company as their shirt sponsor?
  3. Yes, because obviously Rothwell was a key member of their first X1 at that point. Boring.
  4. First paragraph agree entirely. Second paragraph, strongly disagree couldn't care less about any other Club.
  5. 1) Because you keep claiming the owners don't give the manager enough money for players. They must have being doing something right as we were in FFP difficulties in summer. 2) Something I've heard. If true I would say the amount in question is decent and I'll be questioning why the manager didn't spend it this window. Plus, don't forget, the owners have also committed to £10m plus in player bonuses if we go up. 3) Someone else referred to an interview where TM had allegedly said someone might be sold, I haven't seen that one. In a previous interview he said supporters wouldn't expect the team to be broken up so who knows what he's thinking or can believe a word that comes out of his mouth? To be fair I wouldn't want him broadcasting we have some money available if indeed it is so available so hopefully this is just an attempt to keep the price for targets down.
  6. He has got funds. Sorry to disappoint you. Edit: Plus even if he hadn't, why on earth would anyone be going round saying they need to sell one of them to reinvest elsewhere. That would be the one sure way to get a rock bottom price.
  7. Would be an insanely poor move if it happened from our point of view and imo Mowbray has money available if he wishes to spend it so I'm not sure why he's coming out with this sort of claptrap.
  8. Surely the moral of the story is do your due diligence and get a decent sponsor in the first place? Also I may be naive but I always assumed that sponsorship was paid up in advance or at least on an annual basis etc? I wonder how much revenue we've missed out on and how far behind they were with payments? Sounds like they were almost drip feeding it into the Club on a monthly basis on the never never. As for the new choice of sponsor, words fail me, but then we've already got it on the training kit so why bother I suppose? Another Waggott special.
  9. I've always thought he looks decent as well.
  10. Hopefully the owners have said no-one is leaving this month unless someone comes in with an insane offer no-one is likely to make, bearing in mind they might be able to get the three of them for nothing in summer if we don't go up.
  11. Yep, that's my take on it exactly. Huge upside (potentially) and at that price not the end of the world if he doesn't end up being the next Mo Salah. For me the polar opposite of spunking away £5m on Gallagher when we'd already seen he wasn't that good.
  12. Cheers, didn't actually realise he was part of the French World Cup winning squad. That tends to confirm the case against Healey rather than for him in my eyes, having checked up on his background Nzonzi played in Ligue 2 when he was about 20 before moving onto better things. If Healey was any good you wouldn't expect him to be playing in Ligue 2 at age 27.
  13. I don't actually recall there being any suggestion at all that the deal wasn't a permanent one and indeed I'm assuming there wasn't any as he did absolutely nothing here in his first few months and presumably we'd have sent him back at that point were we able. So in reality there's no difference between that and a permanent deal. Perhaps it's just an accounting tool for FFP purposes?
  14. At League 2 level though?
  15. Strange post. We signed Brereton outright.
  16. Not worth arguing with you on this as you're being deliberately provocative. 1) Doesn't make sense 2) Pay him what he wants then 3) Evans, Bennett, Mulgrew, Downing, Graham plus running a squad in the past with 14 or 15 midfielders in it. 4) Your last point doesn't make any sense whatsoever either. Who's going to pay a fee for them once they're out of contract? And replacing them with similar quality would cost far more than coming to an agreement with them.
  17. That's the crux of it, 27 and has never made a go of it at a decent level in England. I know we were linked with him in the past (as we were with another uninspiring target Hedges) but I've not seen anything recent suggesting we're in for him apart from Paul Mani thinking it might be him? (Unless I'm wrong?) I would definitely hope we have better irons in the fire than that. And most certainly if we're prepared to spend £5m.
  18. No, Spurs obviously haven't demonstrated their willingness to give this lad enough of a chance at first team level. Just as we've mishandled Nyambe over the years by shunting him in and out of the team and all indeed all three of the out of contract players by not prioritising deals for them but handing out deal after deal for players that didn't warrant it and running an extremely bloated squad. Mismanagement of all 4 players in their different ways by the respective Clubs. Let's hope we benefit from Markandy because we'll suffer badly if we don't go up and the other three leave for nothing.
  19. Correct. 4 wrongs don't make a right.
  20. Presumably we knew what the fee for him was before going in for him (if indeed we are) but is there anything to suggest he's worth anywhere remotely near that sort of money? What's the standard like in Ligue 2? Genuine question as I've no idea but the standard in Ligue 1 is nowhere near that of the Premier League. We've also been badly burned before by spending £7m on the top scorer from Serie B in Italy........ 🙄
  21. Delighted with the Markandy deal. Hopefully it will be a little bit like signing Harvey Elliott without having to pay a fortune by way of loan fee for him then wave him a sad farewell after a successful season.
  22. Can you explain why you automatically assume everyone we're linked with would be a good signing? On Healey he's 27 and as far as I can see he's scored one career goal at Championship level or higher. I don't think he 's the type of quality we ought to be targeting if we're serious about challenging for promotion.
  23. If Butterworth had had the amount of game time as Gallagher has had I reckon he would have contributed far more overall. Gallagher is just a bad 'un. End of story. No redeeming qualities whatsoever unfortunately.
  24. I think we need Markanday, a striker and someone who could grab the game by the scruff of the neck in midfield and/or provide a killer pass. The one place I don't think we need further cover is at CB, we already have 4 vying for 3 spots and could go 4 at the back in an emergency. A decent back up keeper wouldn't be the worst idea either.
