  1. That looks a decent line up to be fair. Wonder if the manager will see it the same way? 0-3. Rothwell hat trick and everyone to put the pitch forks away and rush down to the Club shop on Monday to have "Super Joey Rothwell" printed over the Totally WKD patch.
  2. (Not biting) No. If we don't get promoted and he leaves us having burnt through more money in support from the owners than any other Rovers manager in history to no avail and with more than half of the first team walking out for nothino he'd have to be considered one of the worst all things considered though!
  3. Not much of a cashing in exercise with only 6 months to go on their contract though is there? By that time it's relatively pointless unless you're in absolutely no danger of either going up or down. In summer they must have thought they could still persuade all 3 to sign new contracts at some point. Unsurprisingly Waggott has failed to deliver.
  4. It'd be snowing in Darwen. 🙂
  5. I think you can just about gamble lightning won't strike twice before the end of the season with Kaminsky and that he won't pick up an injury that'll keep him out for a while but not the other two outfield players. Decent cover for TK would still have been preferable though.
  6. Yes, but not the power to leave before the end of their contract if their Clubs don't want them to.
  7. To be fair, the problem is likely to be almost as severe if Kaminsky or Travis are out for any length of time as well. We've brought some extra bodies in, just not in the positions we most needed them. I'd say that's been a common feature of our recruitment over the last few years.
  8. Why is it nonsense? He's 26 and has NEVER scored more than 11 League goals. That was the season he was with us. In fact hat's, that's the ONLY time He's hit double figures as well.
  9. Window summary. Sat in top two in January for the first time in more than a decade. 3 key members of first team due to walk out for nothing at the end of the season if we don't go up. No doubt 2 more at the end of next season if we're still in the Championship by then. The cushion there of a BBD sale in summer if we don't go up and he'll also need replacing in that scenario anyway. £800 k spent on fees. If we tail off badly and we don't go up and money was available heads should roll
  10. Nailed it I think. I still believe we were after ambitious targets and that money was there but if they fell through we should have had back up targets and should have landed at least one. It's not acceptable to say "Oh well we did our best". Especially in the one off position we are at the moment. We get these excuses at the end of every window.
  11. No otg meant he has gone there in response to someone who put Butterworth on the bench in a proposed line up I think.
  12. Some posters seem to have kidded themselves Gallagher is a 1 in 2 striker. He isn't, he's a one in four (at best). And that chart confirms the trend, 6 goals from 23 appearances. The reason he hasn't been starting regularly is, the Boro game apart, he's been crap. If we need more goals we ain't going to get them from him. The only hope as I see it (unless Dack comes back quickly and fully firing) is to try and get more out of Khedra, Rothwell and Buckley in terms of goals. Players of that quality should be targeting 10 goals a season.
  13. It's not reasonable to assume that we'll carry on not conceding any goals like in January or that BBD will score goals at the same rate as he got them before Christmas though. The likelihood is Ben will tail off somewhat in terms of goals and we'll start conceding goals at a more normal but not excessive rate. What happens then?
  14. With the exception of BB of course.
  15. They did back us - money that was made available wasn't spent. No point whinging about it now, what's done is done and as Souness said "We'll have to wee with the willy we've got" and of course we'll all "get behind the lads FFS" but realistically despite the attempts of several posters to put a brave face on it I feel the chance of automatic promotion has gone unless we can find a couple of absolute gems in the free agent market.
  16. Why would we want to keep him if we don't go up? It's quite a fine line really, either he takes us up and leaves a hero with his head held high or hopefully only gets a short term rolling deal. If he doesn't his legacy will be that he burnt through about £120m of the owners money with absolutely no return and left us with hardly any players as more than half the first eleven walked away on a free at the end of this season or next due to the negligence of him and Waggott.
  17. Fantasy Island: Diego Costa. Mundane level: Hal Robson Kanu
  18. 1st part. It was. A lot. 2nd part completely agree . We've had since Armstrong was sold to identify and bring in a half decent striker. We seem to have this problem every window being unable to get deals over the line.
  19. Yes I was thinking that. Surely he'll be first choice, Pickering number 2 and Edun (who I thinks been a poor signing) number 3?
  20. I know we say this after every disappointing window but any good free agents about?
  21. I think most people would snap your hand off to have that bet with you but I sincerely hope your optimism is justified!
  22. No sorry. I didn't mean we tried for them at the last minute, I mean they were mentioned on here in the last couple of hours.
  23. Has the Wolves lad actually gone through? Even it has, I have to say that given the stakes on offer that was a very disappointing window. I do believe we tried for the ambitious targets mentioned in the last hour or two, don't know how close we got or if there was ever a realistic chance of getting them, but in the final analysis it's results that count. I think we're only an injury away to either Kaminsky, Travis or Brereton from being absolutely snookered. Given the contract situation and the likelihood half the first team will be walking out for nothing either this summer or next summer this could be our only realistic chance of promotion for years and it looks like a chance missed.
  24. I firmly believe money is/was made available. Can't say why it hasn't been spent. It's no good going for an ambitious target and then missing out.
