  1. Better still in our case let's stop this ludicrous practice of filling our squad with loan signings and start signing our own players and giving our own youngsters a chance as Crimpshine says. For all the talk about how good Elliott was I thought he lost interest by Christmas and looking forward for the long term I'd far rather have seen Dolan get more game time. Ditto Carter and Magloire at the back over Branthwaite and Taylor Bellis. The other problem with waiting until the end of the season to see what scraps fall off the Premier League loan table is that you end up having to take whoever is left available rather than the players you really want in the positions you want. Need to start making astute signings and unearthing hidden gems then maybe topping it all off with an Elliott or a second loan signing at most. Mind you that would require a manager with an eye for a player and a decent scouting system as opposed to just looking at the same data based app that everyone else is looking at.
  2. Good news if true. Have we had definite confirmation from the Authorities that what has been submitted is acceptable for their purposes?
  3. Think even Sharpe thought Mowbray was going for a short time last season so he got very brave and briefly peeked his nose above the parapet for a few days before quickly running back inside again.
  4. Not very many I'd imagine. Last year's 2.5k will probably renew to utilise their discount bur it will be interesting to see the take up rate after that.
  5. He was one of the bleedin" players who got us relegated to League 1 in the first place! Not even a good player for us, far less a legend!
  6. That is VERY much a matter of opinion Chadster.
  7. I'm sure according to Mowbray, we had a young developing team two years ago. Is he the first person in the history of the world to have managed to halt the ageing process? He's wasted in football if he has. You're right about Sharpe as well. Waste of time reading anything he writes. Mouthpiece for the Club trying to explain away everything Mowbray says in a way that makes it sound reasonable as opposed to the total bollux it actually is.
  8. There is no transfer activity apparent up to press, therefore you'd probably be better directing your ire towards the Club rather than members of this message board.
  9. Not all have multi billionaire owners willing to make up any shortfalls and mop up after multiple cock ups either ........
  10. That's the £64m question 1864. Under Waggott: Affordable seating has been scrapped and he's reduced the season ticket base by up to 75% to c £2.5k We might possibly be headed into embargo in a few days time. The squad is an absolute train wreck in terms of players contracts not having been attended to. The owners want at least £20m for our star striker but due to the incompetence and lack of foresight of the manager and CEO we face losing him for a relative pittance now with 40% of that going to Newcastle anyway or for nothing at the end of the season. We seemingly can't appoint a Head of recruitment. We seemingly can't attract any players A manager who endured the 3rd worst run in our 146 year history last season is still in situ. A doomed attempt was made to flog off the training ground which had to be scrapped. Doesn't seem like either himself or Mowbray can possibly do anything which would earn them the sack.
  11. That wasn't my recollection of what happened, my recollection was that he had an offer on the table for a considerable time which he didn't accept. However even if Downing is right and a deal had been agreed by both parties in principle then that didn't stop him getting fixed up elsewhere when nothing happened- if someone else had wanted him that is. Irrespective of that, even if you accept he was messed about, he still came back KNOWING he'd been messed about so I'm not sure why he's complaining about it now. What did he expect he was going to be other than occasional back up? Nothing against the player per se, he was excellent in the first half of his first season here but his form dipped considerably in the second half of the season so it looked probable he'd "gone" even then. We should never even have considered offering him an extended deal but as you rightly pointed out on the summer transfer thread we make a habit of offering deals to players who are either past it or who weren't up to it in the first place.
  12. Agree it shows the Club is an absolute shambles under Mowbray/Waggott but no sympathy whatsoever for Downing. He was made an offer which at the time he didn't respond to thinking he could get a better offer therefore, unsurprisingly, we looked elsewhere. He then came back here completely voluntarily knowing the original offer had been taken off the table. No-one forced him to come and what was the reason he ended up back here at that late stage anyway?. Answer: No-one else wanted him. If anything Downing should be grateful that Mowbray was willing to play the old pals act and waste yet more of the owners money paying him to sit around and do nothing for another year. From our point of view the disgrace that he was even offered any terms in the first place and even more so when the two parties limped cap in hand up to each other at a later date.
  13. "Manager plays player in best position shocker"
  14. He never seems to do anything that might possibly increase revenues though. It's all down scaling, cost cutting and penny pinching.
  15. The credit for full paying customers is designed to redress the difference between the value of an I follow pass and the cost of their ticket. As a young person would only have been paying £8 per game in the first place and had it substituted by a £10 I follow pass then there's nothing to redress. In fact if you were being pedantic and judging young adults on exactly the same basis as Seniors you could argue that they're £46 in credit as opposed to every other category of fan for last season. The problem of households having multiple season tickets and therefore not getting much benefit from (edit) one I follow pass is a sticky one and not just confined to young adults it also applies to households with multiple senior season tickets. A more fan friendly CEO than Waggott would take steps to acknowledge this and offer some form of bulk loyalty discount but that would require some ingenuity and empathy with the supporter base. I agree it's disgraceful that up to press young adults are to be left off the supporter mosaic and the move to reduce the young adult age range seems exceptionally petty and vindictive but then everything Waggott does seems designed to piss people off. I can't believe the owners would have said "you must slash young adult eligibility" just as I don't believe they would have had any particular interest in selling a few acres of land near Whalley. (Brockhall).
  16. If going down to the Rovers for you is all about having a good day out and if what happens on (and off) the pitch is a complete irrelevance then good luck to you. Many won't hold the same point of view. As much as I've come to detest the useless Mowbray and his relationship with the con man Waggott, I'm way more upset by the disgraceful attempt to flog off Brockhall than even that. So for me personally, it will be an extremely reluctant purchase if I do decide to pay 25% more for my ticket than the last time I saw a ball kicked at Ewood.
  17. Agree whole heartedly with your last paragraph actually. As far as the season ticket goes, I really don't know where the argument is. If you were on the £179 rate you were paying £8 per game give or take a few pence last season and had it replaced by an I follow pass with a value of £10 per game so if you're still on the £179 rate this season what are you getting credit for? I agree it's wholly unfair if you've moved up into the full price band like my mate's son and are not being offered any discount. I think people in that situation should be offered a good will £30 or £40 discount.
  18. You seem to be trying to make out BRFC is not a business. The elasticity of supply and demand might be somewhat different to a "normal" business but it's still a very dangerous game to take customers for granted and assume people should simply attend out of blind loyalty as you (and Waggott) appear to be doing.
  19. He wasn't. You can try and emotionally blackmail people all you want by claiming that local people will be put out of jobs if fans don't renew but it's always been the case that it's optional to buy a season ticket irrespective of the manager or the standard of the fare on the pitch. There's only so far you can test the loyalty of the fanbase. If you have a terrible meal in a restaurant do you pile back there the following week because you're worried the staff there will lose their jobs if you don't go back? Or do you rightly take the view that if that happens it's the fault of the management for serving crap food?
  20. And your language and Abrasive attitude says a lot about you. People of all age ranges have financial problems in general and have been badly affected by the pandemic. Try telling someone who's lost a loved one or a parent that the younger generation, who in general don't get as seriously ill from the virus, have been the worst affected. I only meant that if you were entitled to a £179 ticket originally and are STILL entitled to a disounted ticket on account of age it's unreasonable to expect another massive discount on an already heavily discounted price. A friend of mines son has actually just turned 24 and therefore has gone from being asked to pay £179 to £399 with no discount. So after showing loyalty by renewing last year, there's no incentive whatsoever for him to renew again. He will I'm sure still renew anyway as he has a job and is keen as mustard but that isn't really the point
  21. Waggott's wet dream probably, as well as becoming a bit of a yo yo team between the Championship and League 1 where the Coventrio are obviously far more comfortable and at their natural level. Up to us as fans to preserve Jack's infrastructure until we can see these charlatans off and get someone decent in.
  22. Was speaking to a Luton Town fan last night, he said last season they had the smallest budget in the division bar Wycombe and had great difficulty persuading anyone to join them. This close season they've been active already making three signings and poaching Wycombe's star player, a striker, off them and this Chap was delighted to note that the signings were now talking about being delighted to join "a Championship Club" as opposed to "Luton Town". Different expectations but a Club clearly moving in the right direction and doing their utmost to try and improve. The polar opposite of our mob down at Ewood.
  23. That'll be me gone by about 15.15 opening home game then!
  24. You do have to wonder if it's being done deliberately to some end. I'm talking from those on the ground at Ewood rather than India but at the end of the day it's their name over the door and the buck stops with them. I can't believe anyone could actually be that stupid.
