  1. Much like the alleged parting of the ways with Mowbray!
  2. Yep, any discounts promised last year will no doubt be wiped out by price hikes over the next season or two. A point I stressed at the time. They're completely meaningless unless combined with a price freeze for a specified period which is subsequently honoured.
  3. That simply doesn't wash John. If there was more robust criticism of the footballing side (which I doubt) it needs to be recorded in the minutes as a matter of record in case things deteriorate even further (if that's possible) so you can refer to it at a later date if needed.
  4. We've already seen that by the way in the Fans Forum minutes. Lynsey Talbot saying numbers are likely to be down because people will be wary of attending because of covid etc etc. Not blaming Lynsey, only saying what she's been told to, but the major reasons will be obviously the Mowbray effect and the Brockhall fiasco. Whilst the Forum seemingly sat there like the 3 wise monkeys.
  5. Four goals in 39 suggests otherwise.
  6. Three Club rule. Must admit if we replaced a £20m plus striker with a 31 year old loanee and one with a poor recent record and a history of being difficult that would be the last straw for most with this management. If there's anyone still left in that category. If still here Mowbray and Waggott would probably do it out of spite and then blame it on not being able to sell Brockhall.
  7. I know, but................. Disagree Armstrong holds all the aces. If the owners say he's going nowhere for c £15 m then that's the end of the matter. Undoubtedly it would be the pragmatic move to cash in on him this summer. It would be an even better move to get a proper manager in and offer him a new deal.
  8. Don't think the owners will sell him for that. Or anything like.
  9. Some pointed questions about Mowbray but overall a pretty disgraceful lack of response from The Forum there who once again have let Waggott get away with absolute murder. The sort of things we needed to know are: Who shelved the Brockhall fiasco Why was it shelved How much money was wasted on the aborted scheme? Are there now plans to upgrade the facilities on the existing sites Did Waggott ever specifically ask the owners to commit to a new £2m stitch pitch or was it his decision not to go ahead Who made the decision that according to SW Mowbray would be staying? The owners or was the decision left to him? Overall all you ever tend to read is things like "We've been caught red handed with our fingers in the cookie jar over Brockhall but we'll just brush it under the carpet and pretend it never happened" "I know we promised a brand new state of the art pitch to deflect criticism when we had a game called off but that isn't happening and we'll pretend we never promised that either" I know we haven't been able to get new kits or season tickets on sale but we're hopeful we'll be able to do so sometime soon" "We haven't been able to pull off any contract negotiations" and everyone seemingly sits there and says nothing or even sympathises. Goes without saying it's an absolute shambles from the Club but nowhere near good enough from the Forum either.
  10. On a serious note the owners are so far missing a trick big style once again here as it's difficult to imagine that any ST launch won't have the feel of a lead balloon if Mowbray, Waggott and Venus are still here. And that's before considering whether or not Waggott will introduce another huge price hike. Just imagine the difference in outlook and new found feeling of optimism were the Coventrio potted, for the sake of argument Hughes or Ainsworth were appointed, and season tickets went on sale a couple of days after that!
  11. The manager's no bloody good and isn't getting the best of his players! And no amount of data analysis or research can change or gloss over that fact. And for me it doesn't matter a jot whether you play like Guardiola or Dyche IF you're winning every game. I have a bit of an issue with rubbish football if you're only scraping to safety every season under say Allardyce but that's a different argument Sorry to sound harsh Andy, I wish you well in your future career path if that is your passion, it's just not for me at all I'm afraid.
  12. Might explain partly why we can never get any deals over the line. The analysts spend hours compiling a list of targets then we put offers in commensurate with our budget which don't match those of the players in question or their agents.
  13. Also the oldest saying in the book, "There are lies, damn lies and statistics". (Benjamin Disraeli)
  14. I lost interest in anything this guy had to say when he defended Mowbray recently by claiming under nearly every metric we had progressed. Clearly after a job with the Club or already involved with the Club in some way on this nonsensical analytics lark. I had cause to Google Glynn Chamberlain at the weekend who is our head of European scouting and I found it very refreshing that he bucked this trend somewhat by having written in an article on scouting that nothing beat casting an experienced eye over a player. Also it might be just me, but I can't see the use of analytics tools if they can't incorporate whether or not a players wage demands. I'm sure you can spend a few hours compiling a list of the top ten players with the most passes in a certain part of the pitch blah blah but if their financial demands are out of your league then it's a complete waste of time. Stats don't tell you if a player has heart or whether they fancy a freezing Tuesday night in February away at Barnsley etc either.
  15. In my case that would definitely clear the place!
  16. I think that's incredibly harsh on Shearer. We were going nowhere under Harford when he left. I've also never heard him speak anything other than fondly about his time here or than with great respect for the Club. Rumour has it he made a very substantial donation to the building of the Academy before he left and that might not have been the sole extent of his input in that respect either.
  17. They're both incredibly over-rated in my book but Rashford has earnt virtually Canonisation like status due to his activities off the pitch recently. As with Rovers under Mowbray, can't help but feel it doesn't really matter who's in the squad, we'll get nowhere under Southgate.
  18. Bit odd to be criticising Warnock. They finished seven points better off than us, a swing of 17 points from the previous season when we finished ten points ahead of them and if memory serves me correctly he was brought in to save them.
  19. Well, not by a specific date, just "at the end of the season". The information was from a seemingly reliable source, can't comment on whether it was incorrect in the first place, or something changed in the intervening period, or whether it's still on but has been delayed for whatever reason. Still waiting for your end of season report on Mowbray you promised us!
  20. Nothing's changed. Talk about recruitment is almost irrelevant unless and until the manager and his staff are removed.
  21. Would you? I don't think you've ever mentioned that before..........
  22. Might be the season before the one you're on about but Martin Dahlin as well. £6m and never off the treatment table. That's one of the things that upset Sherwood so much apparently. Came in on quite a bit more money than him.
  23. Just had a look at his wiki page he concedes that to his credit Jack Walker offered him the chance to resign with a full pay off rather than be sacked to protect his reputation as he (Roy) wasn't enjoying it. He admits now was too arrogant and refused as he thought he was doing nothing wrong at the time in terms of coaching the team and believed he could pull it round. This left Jack no chance but to sack him. (We were bottom at the time) I never knew any of that. Personally I've no doubt had he stayed we'd have gone down, probably with less points than under Kidd.
