  1. Why on earth not? He's the manager, the buck stops with him.
  2. This window hasn't really panned out any differently to any other since we were promoted. The story about having a bid in for Kipre seems to match our usual modus operandi. There's a fee and wages that will get a player into the Club, we offer something else entirely, miss out altogether on our original targets, end up scratching around at the last minute chucking money like water at anyone still available and then after the window shuts complain at the level of the market and how we almost got various deals over the line. We got away with it last year to some extent with Tosin although its questionable how sound a long term strategy it is to fritter money away on loan fees every year and be in the position of having to replace key players every 12 months. We might not be quite so lucky this time although the silver lining might be that if we struggle to bring anyone else in it will allow youngsters like Wharton and Dolan to blossom.
  3. I've said already that the Club could have introduced a direct debit scheme which could be amended as appropriate when it is known whether a season ticket membership for this season will take the form of an i follow pass, actual attendance or a combination of both as the season progresses. As it stands we'll be left completely high and dry once the Government make a decision. As far as the Club Shop is concerned, how much does it cost to have a couple of staff manning the shop? And especially seeing as said staff will be on furlough anyway any cost savings will be absolutely minimal. You seem fairly desperate to condone downright laziness on the part of those behind the scenes at Ewood whilst labelling my relatively mild criticism as over the top hyperbole! Extremely odd behaviour.but then these are bizarre times I suppose.
  4. Disagree completely. How come other shops can re-open for business and put a few distancing stickers on the floor and plastic screens up and we cant? The answer is simple and is the same as the refusal to try and sell any form of membership or season ticket for next season - we simply can't be bothered putting any thought into it about how to overcome any potential obstacles. To use the much hackneyed cliche, it's an absolute disgrace and I don't think Waggott should be surprised if the fan base show a similar level of apathy when they finally pull their finger out of their collective backsides and come up with anything.
  5. Went past the ground today willing to spend some money on a new shirt and Rovers face mask. Metal barriers up and everything fenced off. You couldn't get outside the ground or by Jack's statue if you wanted. The vibe coming out of the place is most definitely not open for business.
  6. Amen to that Tom. If he's good enough he's old enough . What does it matter the standard of the opposition he's been up against thus far, he still looked the pick of the players on Saturday! Sod bringing him on as an impact player as well. Give him a start and see how he does. If he doesn't cut it, give someone else the chance. It isn't difficult but no doubt Mowbray will try to make it so by playing an older player completely out of position who looks as comfortable as a fish on a bike.
  7. Not followed the transfer news for the last couple of days, but I'm guessing with less than two weeks to go before than the start of the season, it's the usual "we tried hard but couldn't get the deals over the line" hard luck sob story in relation to the majority of our targets? (with the exception of the keeper).
  8. I really like the new kit, a proper shade of 1992 blue and the sponsor in black on the front looks very understated, much better than it would be in red and at least we don't have to endure the toilet seat on the front of our strip anymore. Best for years, I think I'll purchase (if they're on sale). I don't mind looking like a (royal) blue and white sausage for a couple of weeks until the weather turns too cold to wear it on it's own!
  9. Based on today only Wharton looked remotely near Championship standard. Thought Lenihan was very poor but also thought the midfield piled pressure on the defence by being non existent between Holtby going off and Dolan coming on.
  10. He's likely to be disappointed ........ my mates son says Doncaster want £3m for him.
  11. I half agree with you, I thought JRC was terrible and consistently AWOL (has Mowray played him in every position bar his favoured one?) but I also thought Rothwell was extremely disappointing when he came on today and I'm a fan of his.
  12. Very fortunate in the end after that second half display. Thought both full backs had terrible games, Fisher had looked confident but then did "a Walton" for their second goal. Bell did redeem himself slightly by doing well for our pen. In midfield thought Johnson was a joke second half, must have thought he was playing walking football. Rothwell was anonymous as well when he came on. Up front thought BB did quite well then he missed a sitter. Armstrong didn't look arsed, hope he's not angling for a move, didn't think Chapman was as bad as people are making out,did some nice things but Dolan looked the pick of the bunch when he came on. Overall a lot of improvement needed and on that evidence we need Holtby back ASAP.
  13. Never a pen but only ourselves to blame, haven't come out of the dressing room second half. Fairly typical of Rovers under Mowbray, 45 mins at a time.
  14. I thought we played very well first half until Holtby went off, not so good thereafter. Love the new kit and the darker shade of blue. Love the front 3 of Armstrong Brereton and Chapman although I have to say Armstrong doesn't look particularly up for it so far. Love the fact Wharton is playing and I feel far more confident playing with even Fisher in goal than Walton. No doubt Tony will dissipate the feeling of optimism by bringing on Evans and Bennett at some point. Pitch in a very poor state as everyone says, if its like that now, what will it be like in January or February? Half asleep second half so far though.
  15. Agreed, but as decent as Downing was considering his age, that type of signing is never going to propel you to promotion imo.
  16. Yes, but 2 or 3 older heads to provide the know how while you build a young team. That's a "long term plan" not spending a fortune on mediocre loanees and players in their twilight years every season to limp in in midtable. For example I don't think it's necessary to sign 2 CB's , I'd rather see Wharton challenging for a starting position. If Lenihan's as good as people say he is then Wharton or anyone else should find it easy to play alongside him.
  17. I'm quite excited by the potential emergence of various young players like Brereton, Pike, Wharton, (Chapman?) and Dolan. The Covid crisis might be the best thing that's happened to us if it forces us to rely on youth. I just hope Tony doesn't cite the need for "experience" and bring in a few one last payday merchants on loan to block the youngsters' progression.
  18. I'm not bothered about Graham and Downing going either. In that respect being especially skint might actually have done us a favour as in more normal circumstances Tone would no doubt have been busting a gut to give them new deals
  19. So sorry if I've missed it but has Kaminsky been confirmed yet?
  20. Yep, better leave him in the wilderness indefinitely to learn how to play "the Rovers way" and forget about him until he's at least 27. Mowbray will be particularly peeved that Chapman impressed as well. That'll be the last we see of him until Christmas!.
  21. Shouldn't be a need for any ( hopefully) if we make 2-3 modest low cost acquisitions like this proposed keeper given we'e shed seven players off the wage bill from last season.
  22. I don't think they'd be aware of the state of the outside of the ground just now, no. I see no reason why they'd be happy with it though. Responsibility for that has to lie with those on the ground so to speak at Ewood. Have they been working from home or the stadium?
  23. The neglect of Eeood Park isn't really a new issue, John William's used to comment quite frequently ten years or more ago at the Fans Forum that ground maintenance issues had been deliberately overlooked in an attempt to maximise the playing budget. This seems to be taking it to a whole new level. though.Shocking really when things like the weeds could be so quickly and cheaply sorted out. Great idea to send the pictures to the owners who Iimagine would be appalled.
  24. We don't have a senior keeper on the books and now might be signing one for 500k euros 1864! Hardly that earth shattering in normal circumstances but we're coming at it from such a desperate position we're all like a dying man in the desert stumbling upon an oasis. Might be a bargain though like I've said.
