  1. Apologies if already discussed. Imo this season has to be finished to maintain the integrity of the competition. No matter when that may be. Scrap or reduce next season, whatever. Sad, as it would have been hellishly funny to see this season expunged from the record and Liverpool 31 years without a PL title.
  2. I like WWE but how can this go on behind closed doors when apparently nothing else can?
  3. Absolutely spot on. Not sure what our predecessors and ancestors would make of all this nonsense, some of them fought world wars in intolerable conditions to guarantee our freedom. Now we're CHOOSiNG not to go about our every day lives because we might catch a bit of a virus for a week or so. Still it gives the 24 hrs a day media something to obsess over and go overboard on now Brexit has been sorted I suppose.
  4. Such is the level of over -reaction and hysteria regarding this virus it now seems likely matches will be postponed but I will still be disappointed when it happens. Surely the best way to beat the virus is for the vast majority of the population to carry on as normal and if a decent chunk of the population contract the virus and are subsequently immune then that will be the best way to prevent the further spread. If everyone goes into hiding the practical effects on people's every day life and the economy are exactly the same as if they had contracted the virus with the exception that when everyone emerges from hibernation the chances of infection are exactly the same. For anyone who's in a vulnerable category due to age or underlying ill health then it would make sense to self isolate but this is no different really to any other illness in that respect, you wouldn't visit an elderly relative if you had a bad cold or flu either.
  5. Have to agree with chaddy for once, to say there has been an over reaction to the corona virus issue is the understatement of all understatements. For the vast majority of people the symptoms are relatively mild. How many people die of flu each year? Way more than Corona virus. Yet no -one seems to care or go running around putting people under house arrest or telling them what they can or can't do because of that. Are we now such snowflakes that we will have to go through this nonsense every year each time a new virus is discovered? The encouragement all this must give to people whose motives are not pure is incalculable as well. If a relatively mild virus can bring the world to a halt and cripple the economy think of how much chaos they could cause if they were able to manufacture a more virulent type of virus. And we'd better not hope we need to fight any wars in the meantime. "Little Johnny can't come out to fight today, he might develop a sniffle." Still, nothing we can do about it.If I thought we had any actual chance of making the play offs I'd be even more annoyed about the prospect of the game being played behind closed doors or cancelled.
  6. I can't believe anyone still believes it's "a big week" look how we've reacted for the last four "must win" games, looked like they couldn't be arsed and three points of which one was an extremely fortunate 94th minute draw against Swansea. For me the season is as dead as a dodo and I can barely be bothered going on Saturday. Imo yesterday was the last chance saloon to try and force ourselves into the reckoning. We needed three points and can't rely on everyone else continuing to drop points, sooner or later either someone above us will put a reasonable run together or we'll be gobbled up by a couple more of the sides behind us, we've already dropped behind Cardiff and Millwall during the recent poor run and there's no indication whatsoever we have the ability to turn it round or even that we're particularly bothered about doing so. Pot Mowbray however and the situation changes completely. Game on. Unfortunately little chance of that happening so the season will fizzle out into another dismal lower mid table finish.
  7. We'll probably end the season behind Millwall because imo they have a good manager at this level and we do not.
  8. Need to reply to a post from Mashed Potatoes that was deleted. He accused certain posters of posting once when we win and 15-20 times when we lose. Absolutely correct. I probably come into that category at the moment. The reason is that Mowbray is NOT the man for the job and a one or two streaky results doesn't change that. Yet some people still can't see it. Form is temporary, class is permanent and all that.
  9. If Warnock is/was prepared to go to Ipswich, we should steam in and nick him off them before they move in. Failing that as far as I am concerned there is absolutely no downside to potting Mowbray before the day is out and using the rest of the season to see if Damien Johnson has got what it takes. We're not going down and imo with Mowbray in charge we'll struggle to get to 60 points. There's absolutely nothing to lose for me.
  10. I usually agree with most of what you say but Walton is abysmal imo, he's turning into the new Jason Steele, the opposition only have to take a pot shot from 25 yards and in it goes. Also I will be very surprised if this doesn't turn into another desperately disappointing season just like the last one, one point from four games..... we'll be hard pressed to match last year's tally of 60 points.
  11. What are you talking about? He went to Bristol City a few days later so obviously we were trying to get rid!
  12. Absolutely spot on. Mowbray was talking about sending Travis out on loan shortly before Smallwood received a red away at Sheffield United last season. Mowbray then had little option but to give Travis a try and the rest is history. Nothing will convince me that Palmer and Travis weren't suddenly playing out of the blue that day to put them in the shop window for a loan move. Then holds Nyambe back for ages to play Bennett in front of him. Terrible manager.
  13. That'll be Buckley ostracized never to be seen again much like Travis was when he got a red early in his career. Bennett got a couple of reds a season or two back and went straight back into the side when the suspension was up.
  14. Remarkably often in our case. Wigan Birmingham Stoke Swansea Derby .........
  15. "Nice guys" put in a decent performance every week.
  16. Just to rub salt in the wound..... Bennett!!!!! Whoop Whoop!
  17. The body language of the side is absolutely appalling. Buckley just ran over to retrieve the ball to speed play up. Mowbray and the experienced players will soon drum that nonsense out of him.
  18. Yup. Panic over. They can start thinking about the summer hols now. Lovely jubbly.
  19. To be fair I think Bell's been one of the very few who's been ok. Thank God for Nyambe. He's got a broom up his arse trying to play CB and put fires out down the right because of the hapless Bennett.
  20. **** off Mowbray. **** off Bennett **** off Gallagher **** off Walton
  21. Gallagher's worse. And Bennett is worse than Gallagher. Whilst Mowbray insists on shoehorning those 2 into the side we've no chance.
  22. £5m plus? You're having a laugh. He isn't worth 500k. Paying £5m for him would be as suicidal as paying £5m for Gallagher who also failed to impress whilst on loan here. Which probably means Mowbray will do it. Strange how Walton suddenly turns into Gordon Banks in certain posters eyes whenever we have a game or two when he has nothing to do.
  23. You're contradicting yourself completely there Matty - if you don't think we'll do it then by definition in your mind we are not in the mix! Also people keep mentioning Villa as an example of how we might be able to work ourselves into the mix - but they only did so after they changed manager! Which incidentally is the only way I think we'd be able to work our way into the mix - by bringing someone in who will deliver victories not disappointing outcomes when it matters.
  24. And at half time. Very strange given the weather we've had although I don't think the pitch is in bad nick considering the extreme conditions recently.
  25. We haven't been in the mix all season. We weren't in the mix before the game and we still aren't. We COULD suddenly start winning crucial games instead of blowing it every single time, then again if my Aunty had balls etc........ It's the definition of insanity isn't it, doing (or in this case watching) the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?
