Apart from in the periods we identified yesterday. Even outside of that we were still bringing in plenty of cheaper signings and many people on loan. Some good mostly bad. It wasn't like it's been the last couple of years. As you keep complaining about, we resisted the opportunity to sell Rothwell and Brereton in the hope it would enable us to secure promotion. On the other hand we couldn't wait to get Adam Wharton out of the door to pay the bills. There's been a massive sea change.

This is the sort of area and price range where if they had any sense the owners should be putting their money. Sounds like this lad would be a fairly good investment. Similarly if Beck was available on a permanent deal for £3m to £4m as was allegedly the case last summer then that's an absolute no brainer as well and as close to a sure fire thing as you could possibly get. You'd be 99.999% guaranteed to make a healthy profit on him if you ever sold him and in the meantime you've got an unbelievable player. Armstrong who we made an insane profit on was in that £3m sort of category as well. -

It'll be on Howard's twitter feed in about half an hour though. -

I'd take the exact opposite viewpoint. Id say that quite often when a player isn't up to it far too much is made of their supposed qualities off the ball and what they allegedly offer the team in a defensive capacity. A reasonable amount of tracking back and a bit of athleticism should be a more or less a given in this day and age, not a particular badge of honour. In Hedges' case I'd say he is a million miles off being Championship standard and the obvious weak link in the side whenever he plays. I don't even think he is that good off the ball. For me the much maligned Dolan works a lot harder and even though he isn't the finished article, he offers way way more going forward and in terms of goalscoring threat. -

If that's correct it sounds like the absolute last thing we need! We have enough of those sorts of players already. The only proviso might be if Dolan were to be sold this window and he was a direct replacement. -

Just seen the highlights - fantastic from Gueye goals 1 and 3 to provide Weimann with a tap in -

Unless Eustace is being coy that's a very worrying snippet from him. Doesn't sound like there's actually anything much going on or even if there was , that he doesn't have much input into or control over the same at all. -
Id assume he must be older than University age by now. I met a very polite young lad briefly a few years ago who I was led to believe was Mrs. D's son. Not sure if it was the same person but if not again he'd be a similar sort of age as well. Certainly as at three or four years ago rumour on the grapevine was that they'd never sell and the intention was to pass the Club down through the generations etc etc. That might have changed with the advent of the Court case, their attitude to funding us certainly has.

Got away with one there, starting with completely the wrong line up. Now let's get some bloody money spent and back the manager. For the benefit of RF 99 Gueye is closing in fast on Gallagher's tally of 3 for the entire season. Lol. -

Get a bloody striker on. Can't believe he's gone so negative at home against a side 16 points below us. -

The proof of the pudding etc .....but yes pre-match I agree 100%. Don't play players out of their natural positions. -

That's a shocking line up. Really negative. What a vote of confidence for Leonard. -

Just come up on Sky Sports News that it is understood Hake will not consider any further talks with WBA after their pursuit of Wicky failed. He has interest from other Clubs across Europe. WBA "considering options" but "not expected" to pursue either John Eustace or Rob Edwards. -

A poster on here mentioned those exact same names a bit earlier. Either he saw Howard's offering and posted or Howard saw his. -

I'd say we need a massive improvement not just a marginal upgrade which is why I pose the question of whether he is the best we can do for that sort of fee. -

Nixon inferring £1.75m will use up the entire budget? "Working on a few possibles" - Name them then! -

If we have actually put an offer in for him it might be more or less a fait accompli. If however it's not that far along, or gets turned down, or is mere transfer window tittle tattle, I guess the question is "Can we do better for £1.75m? I honestly don't know, I don't have a seemingly encyclopedic knowledge of every player in the world like a lot of you guys but it doesn't sound incredible value to me. Not sure either that "an improvement on what we've got" should be the sole benchmark either. That shouldn't be hard. -

I know it isnt happening but In the light of recent sales and sell on fees, why "should" that not be realistic? -

But if we move onto someone else, Chaddy will think he's so much better than Asante! -

We need someone who knows where the back of the net is first and foremost or the season will fizzle out. Can't rely on clean sheets every week. -

I don't know anything about Asante but he strikes me as someone who'll just be at best a run of the mill Championship player for the next few seasons rather than the "difference maker" we need this. I think I'd rather try and get someone exceptional in on loan out of the two.
