  1. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/coventry-city-urged-to-cut-losses-on-thomas-asante-after-blackburn-bid/¹ Fair to say this Coventry Supporter isn't a fan of Assante.
  2. Seems very small beer in the general scheme of things when we have Sigurdsson and Mcfadzean not contributing anything whatsoever on the pitch.
  3. Just waiting for him to say he wants to keep the player and/or for Coventry to say our bid has been rejected. (That's if we've even made a bid) Everyone will respect his opinion on the subject then. Lol.
  4. Agreed. Should still be able to spot a player though.
  5. This is going round in circles! The fact someone else may or may not be better than him is hardly an endorsement. Should we just leave it as " "Some managers may fancy certain players that other managers do not and the fact they might rate them doesn't necessarily mean they are particularly good. Similarly the opinions of a previous Club's supporters on a player don't always mean they are particularly poor or might not improve in a new environment"** Lol. (** Although if nearly everyone is unanimous that's generally a useful guide)
  6. I don't think I am, the proposition or at least an inference was being put forward that because another experienced EFL manager was allegedly after him that meant he must be a good player. Whatever you might say about Robbins, he seemingly didn't rate Assante enough at Coventry to start him regularly in what is his apparently the player's favoured position and if Lampard sells him then, obviously, he too favours other players in that position.
  7. I had to look this one up. Maybe City thought a £68m profit on the player in 30 months was too good to pass up given FFP considerations. Coventry would be selling Asante at a loss at the £1.75m fee quoted so presumably any decision from their end would be purely a footballing one not a financial one.
  8. If he is sold, then presumably that means Lampard (who should know a player when he sees one) doesn't rate him. Or does his opinion not count?
  9. In general seems to be a case of one in one out these days. In the past we used to stockpile (generally useless) players like there was no tomorrow and never used to cut anyone adrift. I remember calculating we had 14 midfielders at one point under Mowbray.
  10. Apart from in the periods we identified yesterday. Even outside of that we were still bringing in plenty of cheaper signings and many people on loan. Some good mostly bad. It wasn't like it's been the last couple of years. As you keep complaining about, we resisted the opportunity to sell Rothwell and Brereton in the hope it would enable us to secure promotion. On the other hand we couldn't wait to get Adam Wharton out of the door to pay the bills. There's been a massive sea change.
  11. This is the sort of area and price range where if they had any sense the owners should be putting their money. Sounds like this lad would be a fairly good investment. Similarly if Beck was available on a permanent deal for £3m to £4m as was allegedly the case last summer then that's an absolute no brainer as well and as close to a sure fire thing as you could possibly get. You'd be 99.999% guaranteed to make a healthy profit on him if you ever sold him and in the meantime you've got an unbelievable player. Armstrong who we made an insane profit on was in that £3m sort of category as well.
  12. It'll be on Howard's twitter feed in about half an hour though.
  13. I'd take the exact opposite viewpoint. Id say that quite often when a player isn't up to it far too much is made of their supposed qualities off the ball and what they allegedly offer the team in a defensive capacity. A reasonable amount of tracking back and a bit of athleticism should be a more or less a given in this day and age, not a particular badge of honour. In Hedges' case I'd say he is a million miles off being Championship standard and the obvious weak link in the side whenever he plays. I don't even think he is that good off the ball. For me the much maligned Dolan works a lot harder and even though he isn't the finished article, he offers way way more going forward and in terms of goalscoring threat.
  14. If that's correct it sounds like the absolute last thing we need! We have enough of those sorts of players already. The only proviso might be if Dolan were to be sold this window and he was a direct replacement.
  15. Just seen the highlights - fantastic from Gueye goals 1 and 3 to provide Weimann with a tap in
  16. Unless Eustace is being coy that's a very worrying snippet from him. Doesn't sound like there's actually anything much going on or even if there was , that he doesn't have much input into or control over the same at all.
  17. Id assume he must be older than University age by now. I met a very polite young lad briefly a few years ago who I was led to believe was Mrs. D's son. Not sure if it was the same person but if not again he'd be a similar sort of age as well. Certainly as at three or four years ago rumour on the grapevine was that they'd never sell and the intention was to pass the Club down through the generations etc etc. That might have changed with the advent of the Court case, their attitude to funding us certainly has.
  18. Got away with one there, starting with completely the wrong line up. Now let's get some bloody money spent and back the manager. For the benefit of RF 99 Gueye is closing in fast on Gallagher's tally of 3 for the entire season. Lol.
  19. Get a bloody striker on. Can't believe he's gone so negative at home against a side 16 points below us.
  20. The proof of the pudding etc .....but yes pre-match I agree 100%. Don't play players out of their natural positions.
  21. That's a shocking line up. Really negative. What a vote of confidence for Leonard.
  22. Without wishing to jinx it it's been clear as a bell all day. So far.
  23. Just come up on Sky Sports News that it is understood Hake will not consider any further talks with WBA after their pursuit of Wicky failed. He has interest from other Clubs across Europe. WBA "considering options" but "not expected" to pursue either John Eustace or Rob Edwards.
