Picked a good day to go away!
Just trying to catch up. Shame about Arma leaving but inevitable.
Can't say I'm massive fan of bringing in a crock, who also has an attitude problem!

Rich Sharpe has mentioned Norwich as well. Watford, Southampton, Norwich and Crystal Palace and judging by Mowbrays comments yesterday one or more clubs aren't far off:
"“I think the club are right to have a valuation and it needs meeting. These clubs that have bids in for him, for me, the Premier League you see some of the money, we’re arguing over a few quid here and there, pay the asking price, get the job done and let’s get on with it."
So bids from more than one PL club, and probably a little haggling as well as how a deal should be structured. Can't see him staying.
Yer, it sounds like a deal is close to being done.
Not sure what Mowbray's definition of a "few quid here and there" is but it certainly sounds like a deal is near enough done.

I appreciate the need to rotate especially with a small squad but I always find quite how dismissive people are of the cups (especially the League cup) particularly strange.
I totally get that the league is the bread and butter but a cup run can be a highlight of an otherwise drab season, more often than not we nestle in mediocrity so the buzz of a cup run, playing big teams and even generating some income could be a bit of otherwise absent excitement and a bonus to help our bleak financial situation.
I agree, cup runs are great but with the situation we've left ourselves in with the squad being so reliant on our younger players/u23's we need to be pretty careful right now. Ayala will not play every game this season and will likely be missing for a good period of time, so at some point we'll already be relying on Carter/Magloire.
Our back up full backs are completely untested at this level and any injury to Nyambe/Pickering (whos also untested at this level) see us fielding U23's in their place.
Championship is a long season and we need to make sure we give ourselves the best chance of being in it again next season, even if, unfortunately that comes at the expense of a cup run.

Not sure Southampton will put enough on the table for us to deal, if their opening bid was only £8m, I can't see them doubling it, which sounds like more what we are after.

Well they have just spent 20 million pounds for midfielder Enock Mwepu from Red Bull Salzburg. Plus they paid for Neal Maupay and Adam Webster for 20 million pounds each.
Southampton have put a new bid for Armstrong today
Where have you seen about Southampton putting in a new bid?

I would definitely take Elliott back if the opportunity arose. I wonder what's happening there?
Noticed he is currently trending on twitter (although with Rovers not Liverpool for some reason)
Anyway, its just a load of Lpool fans saying how great he's been and want to keep him around.

Always a trade off between trying to stay consistent and not risking senior players.
At the moment though, we basically have a starting 11 and then the rest are under 23's (mainly) not sure how we can risk that many first teamers for this, even though it would be great to progress in the Cup.
The entire back 4 needs leaving out for this one, for certain.

If we sell Armstrong, at the very least new contracts need to be given to Lenihan, Rothwell and Nyambe.
If there are any decent freebies left, although unlikely, maybe we could make a move for 1 of those with some of the AA money.
-
I'm assuming as we can't/won't extend contracts for our own players, we can't even hand out contracts to free agents?
Crazy situation.

I feel like Swansea are going to be like we were last season - style over substance. There's more emphasis on keeping the ball, passing out from the back, and playing nice football rather than actually winning football matches.
Hopefully we've ditched that idea and focus more on being more compact and hitting teams on the counter.
Really hope so too.
Having the majority of possession didn't work out too well last season and we seem to fare a lot better when we have less.

Assuming his absence today all but confirms that he's being sold in the next few days?

Haha he's moved Travis out wide into Gallagher's position.
That's a joke, right?

Gallagher off, Davenport on.
Assuming its a formation change, unless he's back to the Buckley as a false 9 bollox again?
-
Not many (any) options off the bench.
Where's Chapman?

Who else but Diazzzz!
Honestly though, looking at the starting 11, no obvious penalty takers in there.

Penalty to Rovers.
Who the hell takes them now?

Has there been any confirmation about AA missing due to an imminent transfer?

Didn't we have a much better record when out of possession last season too?
Yep, we did.

Never had any belief that we would be up at half time!
Excellent stuff, not complaining.

Definitely agree about investing in other areas.
We need a striker now AA has gone but equally we have no real defensive cover.
The there are contracts that desperately need extending for a few players or our summer will be a mega rebuilding job, probably with minimal transfer budget.
