No Armstrong today

And will we have some new post match excuses. Sure there’ll be the old classics like we’re on a journey, hugely frustrated, we go again, defenders are coming. Probably too early to blame the pitch. We’ve been promoted from league one must have past its sell by date. Maybe he’ll go full on Kean with the owners can see what I’m trying to do here.
"Its a young team, we really need to get these lads some help"
Almost a guarantee.

Just over an hour before the Tombola is fired up for the first time this season!
What will Mowbrays random bombshell be today?!

Even with AA gone, I don't hold out much hope of SG playing centrally. More likely we will see Dolan there IMO. This is TM remember!
2 x 6 foot strikers crossing for a 4 foot winger.
That is a concern and it would absolutely p**s me off no end if he did that

I honestly couldn’t give a toss either way if they had a weekly Q&A at the Blues Bar or we didn’t hear from them, AT ALL.
We didn’t hear a peep out of the Walker Trust for years and that was fine by me, as they appointed top executives to manage the club on their behalf. That’s all I want, a professionally run football club, absolute basic stuff that they inexplicably can’t, or won’t put in place after 10 fecking years!
100% agree.
You would feel it would benefit them as well in the long run, as if we were run well and had a decent handle on player trading they wouldn't need to keep propping us up with cash injections (or whatever it is they do)
The current model makes no sense.

All just cheap gimmicks in a late and desperate attempt to improve morale around the place and shift a few tickets to get away from league embarrassing levels.
Mowbray talking and talking about wanting at least 5 loans in - nobody here
Inviting popular ex player back.
Letter 'from' the owners pledging their support and 'intention' to turn up and see a game at some point.
Some of us can see through it all. Waggott's panicking.
Wonder how many season tickets he was expecting to sell? 6000 isn't many and that should be raising red flags to Venkys about the current set up down at Ewood but I highly doubt it is.
-
"Get behind them, FFS!"
There is going to be the biggest, collective crash down to earth ever tomorrow at 5pm.
-
Just seen that update from the club myself.
6000 season ticket holders, thats got to be the lowest we've sold in a long time?
-
I do think we have a starting 11 good enough to not be relegated.
Problem is, we have to make sure we win the games whilst that 11 is available before the inevitable injuries start to kick in.
Puts a lot more pressure on Mowbray to get it right more than he gets it wrong, which isn't his strong point.
Less options and less number of subs available to change the game now as well, which only hinders our already poor manager. He can no longer change half the outfield in order to chase a game when he gets it wrong from the off.
Not looking hopeful for the season ahead!

You would almost think that the (presumably written by someone else) statement today was released tactically.
Putting the brakes on?
More like hitting reverse straight to league one.

Fans already lapping it up on social. "Thanks for your continued support."
I've said it before and I'll say it again, many of our 'fans' deserve them.
Twitter is full of "we should be welcoming them back with open arms"
"They've learnt from from their mistakes"
"They are funding us, what more do you want?"
I can't believe so many people think they are good owners, or should be welcomed.

Maybe the money will be used to get others signed up to new deals .
It's a terrible situation, but there is absolutely no guarantee that Armstrong will be as prolific next season. In the short term we are obviously a way worse off without Armstrong but I really do not see how we can let him go for nothing in 12 months time when the books are telling us we need substantial cash brought in
I agree but some of the money absolutely has to be reinvested in the squad.
We have 1 fit senior centre back and only Gallagher and BB upfront, who won't score as many as AA did between them.
The money is likely to fall into a black hole and we'll be just chucking some U23 players in.

This Palace link worries me. At least Southampton and Norwich were apparently offering players. We get a big fee only and that will probably just disappear, or we spend like £2 million max. Obafemi or Idah would be far better imo.
This is my main concern.
If he goes to Palace, we'll get no player, just cash that dissappears into the Venky black hole.
There won't be a replacement and our season will be an even bigger struggle than it already was.
As it stands, assuming AA leaves for Palace, we are in very real trouble of being relegated.

Although I think the club want cash only, I do think £15m + a player on a permanent deal is the best we could get. Gives us a player to cover the loss of Armstrong (in terms of bodies) and some money.
If we sell and get no one, we are looking at Gallagher or an under 23 upfront all season. And we already know Gallagher isn't that great.

The pure cash is better for us, even if £6.8m of a £20m sale goes to Newcastle. We’d be best served spending money on a selection of good value players in January than bringing in an Obafemi or an Idah on high wages.
We won't be reinvesting any of the money into the squad.

Really gaining some more traction now.
Norwich, Southampton and Palace all linked with a move.
First and foremost, the owners, Waggot, cheston or whoever just want the money. Any interest in getting a decent swap deal so we can field a reasonable team are not their main concerns.
I think, £15m, give Newcastle their slice and let Mowbray field a prem loan or Gallagher or some under 23 is the most likely outcome of it all.
I can't see us getting either the lad from Southampton or the lad from Norwich, as they will value them too high and we won't get what we need the most. Cash.
Odds on us going down if Armstrong leaves must jump significantly.

I think/fear that it will be Brereton left, Gallagher right, Dolan central.
He's done that before, a couple of times if I remember correctly.
Surely, he would have to play Gallagher centrally for the most part. Bonkers to have him putting crosses into Dolan.

That tweet suggest permanent, when Nixon said they will want a large fee for him I took that to mean it will be permanent?
Fair point.
I didn't really read the tweet once I saw who it was from! Just read the replies in this thread instead!

I know it's that twohat but...
Assuming it would only be a loan for their player? No good to us if so.

No point having any scouts if we haven’t got a pot to p!ss in to sign anyone, very worrying the amount of staff leaving especially at this stage of the new season.
A message of intent would go down well from Waggot but that guy seems to be invisible at the moment, however he will be first on the scene moaning about the lack of season ticket sales being the reason we haven’t signed anyone. That's exactly why we need scouts, surely? To find good players for less money.
Like Kaminski.

LET reckons Ings went for £30m. If that's the case then they best be putting up more than the paltry £8m they bid before.
