Bradley Johnson always starts the season well so I'd stick him in the midfield ahead of Bucko.....whichever way you slice it, it's looking bleak
Could be wrong but I thought I read that Johnson won't be fit for the Swansea game.

Stoke set to sign Sam Surridge from Bournemouth. Another possible replacement for Armstrong gone now
We aren't spending any money this window. Mowbray has already said we are only looking at loans and has said he doesn't think he'll get any money from the Armstrong sale to spend.

It seems everyone pretty much agrees with the first 11 and nearly everyone has the same ten. Can’t wait to see how Tony’s Tombola manages to stun us all at 2 o clock Saturday
I think the team, in the main picks itself (for me anyway)
4-3-3 formation. Back 5 picks itself (assuming Ayala gets out of the treatment room)
1 place left for either Buckley or Davenport in the middle 3, Trav and Rothwell the other starters.
1 place left in the front 3 for either Dolan or Gallagher, with Arma and Diaz as the other 2.
I think he'll start Gallagher on the wing, which will just bring back all the frustration of last season in game 1.

A friend did look into their wealth once and came back with a family fortune of around £3 billion. Which would be in top 5 wealthiest owners in the championship with the richest being the Coates family at Stoke City.
How can they have so much money and end up putting us in league one?
They could and should be paying good people to run this club effectively.

Crooke doesnt know what hes talking about but is probably echoing what the LT reported last week, which is why the embargo happened.
I still revert back to asking why we signed a player for a fee in January when we are so perilously on the line of FFP regulation breaking, or are been beyond that?! Or indeed why there isnt more urgency to get Armstrong sold.
Regarding Arma, I don't think anyone is willing to pay the £15-£20m we were expecting. Sounds like Watford have ended their pursuit him and Southampton haven't been back.
No doubts, he will be bundled out of the door last minute for a knockdown fee to someone.
We already know we aren't getting any money to reinvest in the squad.

------------------Kaminski
Nyambe--Ayala--Lenihan--Pickering
------Buckley--Travis--Rothwell
-----Gallagher--Arma--Diaz
That's what I think will start.
1-2 defeat.
Don't think we've ever won an opening game under Venky's?
Also Swansea will probably have the new manager bounce.
Diaz to score.

This harks back to the period after Venky's took over when the club's long-time accountants, solicitors, and others all left
There is obviously something going on at the club and things are not right
Off pitch problems usually mean problems on the pitch. It's looking ominous; it's going to be a difficult season
Somethings definitely not right.
I don't know what's going on but I am not looking forward to what shit show is around the corner.

Rovers lose head of academy recruitment to Stoke
Why are we losing so many backroom staff?

We have enough kids. Hopefully he gets some experienced players on loan. Surely there are some out there?
We clearly have a budget for out of contract players. Why aren't we using it? The fact we didn't have a head of recruitment for 5 months surely comes into this, even though @chaddyrovers said it didn't matter.
I don't want us to sign a load of kids on loan but that's basically what he's said he will be doing.
We really need some experienced players for the squad though.

WBA confirm the signing of Reach.
Our one and only transfer rumour is now officially over.
I guess we look forward to loaning a load of kids from prem clubs.

Someone tweeted that they've heard from various sources that Mowbray has the first 6 games and they have someone lined up to takeover.
Sounds highly Venky-esk if you ask me.
I hope he is getting sacked but it would make absolutely no sense to sack him 6 games in after giving him the summer window and preseason.
Also, what if he won all 6?

Good to come back like that and goals to boost Breretons confidence.
As for some of our fans singing 'Mowbray give us a wave'.....fook right off!!😠
A wave goodbye 👋 , that would be alright.

Didn't watch it but sounded like a typical Mowbray game, start one system, it fails, change some players and the formation and we look a lot better but never enough to win the game and always chasing it.
Not the first time he's tried and failed to implement a back 3. Basically wasted pre season trying this only to go back to 4-3-3 at the very end.

Think it was a groin issue.
If rumours are true, looks like Brockhall sale will happen. Think it's criminal when you look at the money spunked up the wall on likes of Ayala - must be £4million+ in wages, NI, signing on fee, agents etc.
He's been an astonishing waste of money.
Big money, as you say.

Rumoured to be a hamstring issue.
Is that the same injury that kept him out last season?

So no Ayala again but what's the betting he walks straight into the team for Swansea.
If he's fit of course which will be a long shot.
Not even in the squad. Guessing he's injured again?

1. Yes
2. Yes (He'll get a new 1 year contract when they can get away with timing it right)
3. Tommy K
4. 20th
5. West Brom or Fulham

Even the boro boys are walking away from TM. What are the odds we start the with no more signings?
Pretty much a guarantee now.
We'll have offered Reach a contract but with zero back up targets. Sat on our arses waiting for an answer and now he's off elsewhere, it'll be "that's a shame", shoulder shrug and start looking for someone else, which will take another 2 weeks.

I can see us starting the season in similar fashion to Coventry did in 2016-17. The parallels are remarkable - team full of kids, not enough 'men', injury prone players and reliance on loans. I have to wonder how much of that is down to inept ownership and how much is down to an inept manager who is clearly stubborn and welded to his principles and over inflated opinion of himself.
I think a few are going to be surprised by how far off it we are, distracted or misled by a good performance against Leeds the other day.
Pretty sure he trotted out the "you can't build a team on loans" line at Coventry, just like he did the other day.
The short sightedness and lack of forward planning with regards to recruitment has been unbelievable.

So someone through the door tomorrow then, one way or another. At least it will give us something to talk about m.
Think it’s Rothwell away, and either Reach in or Doyle on loan from City.
Where have you seen one in tomorrow?

No guarantee of ANY funds to use from selling our best player. Not even in replacing him.
Strap in lads, it's going to be a rough ride this season.
We were never getting any money from the AA sale.
Anyone thinking it would be reinvested was kidding themselves.

The most annoying thing is that these Prem youngsters aren't bloody cheap to loan in.
It's just wasted money for an asset that isn't yours.
Exactly, they certainly aren't free.

What happened to the gradual rebuilding plan which would take us back to the Premiership?
Clearly we are desperately looking around for loans before the first match!
Like the Journey, the rebuild has probably just been reset because TM can say whatever he wants.
Sharpe saying Rothwell has been struggling with a back injury throughout pre-season and he should be back training tomorrow.
Not the one out of the door? Or the has move fallen through and now he's back in training?

I can't believe how short sighted we have been with regards to recruitment. How, have we allowed ourselves to get into a situation whereby we now have such a thin squad, not only are we relying on our own youth players to make the step up but we have to go and loan other peoples young players in order to have a reasonable sized squad.
Shambolic really. Someone needs to be pulling Mowbray up on his journey and building a squad comments, it was all clearly bullshit.
