'if the numbers are right' is a phrase often used by Nixon so it's hardly surprising its been adopted by Chaddy. He obviously thinks it makes him sound like a journo or ITK. Not sure I'd want to use someone as clueless as Nixon as a benchmark mind.

It also gives Nixon the opportunity to link any player to any club and comes with a get out of jail free card every time.

”Bolton were interested in Rhodes but the numbers weren’t right”

Just like Bolton would be interested in signing Ronaldo if the numbers were right.

How have Nottingham forest managed to just spend 13 million on a midfielder? Are they rolling the dice?

Their owner is  (allegedly) proper dodgey. No doubts he's seen Wolves go up last season and now has got Mendes on board to do the same for Forest.

Seems unlikely that he'll be spending his own cash (although i have no idea of his wealth).

If it works, FFP might as well be officially scrapped as this is just a blatant mockery of it.

Not too fussed either way about Conway. I do like him as a player but I’m not sure he’s got another championship season in him, we’ll see but hopefully he does!

Mowbray mentioned a few times last season how Conway was a leader and voice in the changing room and rightly or wrongly that’s probably one the main reasons Mogga wanted to keep him.

Dack and Lenihan are the priorities for new contracts.

Is agent Mendes involved in this transfer?

Yep he is according to Skysports:

    BREAKING NEWS

Nottingham Forest have agreed a club record fee in the region of £13m for Benfica midfielder Joao Carvalho, Sky Sports News understands.

The deal, subject to a medical, smashes Forest's transfer record of £6.2m for Britt Assombalonga.

Carvalho’s team-mate Diogo Goncalves is also expected to join Forest on a season-long loan.

Both players are represented by Jorge Mendes, who has worked closely in recent months with Wolves.

Both deals are expected to be completed by this weekend.

Why is anyone worried about Bumley signing someone with a dodgy injury record surely it's to be celebrated it's about time they got some Murphy's and Etuhus foisted upon them !

Sad thing is though their manager will still rinse something resembling effort out of these types.

I'm not worried. It's all about timing, our relegation's and their promotions couldn't have happened at a worse time for us.

It just got me angry at Venkys again.

Seems a bit pointless including Mexico in the bid. They're very different to Canada/US, they've hosted the World Cup on their own before, are a strong footballing nation, culturally and economically very different to the others. Possibly it is just the usual attitude of everything has to be bigger and therefore better than elsewhere.

I can see the attraction of the US and Canada joining forces as they are quite similar and football is still developing there, and they link up in various sports.

Canada and Mexico are going to be very much junior partners in this with the US running it and hosting the vast majority of games including all the latter stages.

Bit of header tennis over "The Wall"?

    BURNLEY PLAN WBA RAID

Burnley have offered West Brom £25m for defender Craig Dawson and striker Jay Rodriguez, according to the Daily Mirror

Probably not true but we are now in a world where The Dingles can spend £25m whilst we are hoping that Venkys give us an overall transfer budget of x10 less than that.

We really couldn't have dropped out of the PL at a worse time.

When he took over he claimed that Villa would be as big as Real Madrid and winning the Champions League within 5 years. Remind you of anything?

Sounds like the guy does not have as much money as he made out and took a huge gamble on promotion.

if they think they will be getting top dollar for their players like 30 mil for Grealish, they are in for a big surprise their too, clubs know their situation and that they have to sell.

Plenty of "sold for an undisclosed fee" lines to come out of Villa this summer. Followed by tip offs to Sky/Red Top rags of figures double the amount players were actually sold for.

It's a shame that football is going this way, foreign owners buying clubs and promising the world but are only really interested in making cash for themselves by being in the premier league. When their plan fails, they just down tools and walk away leaving the club as a complete wreckage.

Possible bid for Edwards from us to Posh

    https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/posh/latest-news-peterborough-united-accept-a-million-pound-bid-for-a-league-one-player-1-8521672

    From the link below

The only other Posh players who would realistically command a seven-figure fee are midfielder Gwion Edwards and possibly centre-back Ryan Tafazolli. The Peterborough Telegraph did field a call from a representative of the Blackburn media regarding Edwards. Edwards, who is entering the last year of his Posh contract, was outstanding in both games against Blackburn last season and the promoted Lancastrians have money to spend as they prepare for life in the Championship.

I dont know how truth it is but just found so thought I post it anyway

I thought he looked against us at Ewood. Got forward well and took players on.

I'd be happy if we signed him (assuming he plays like that all the time!)
