What do you think moving on will mean for our finances?

I mention Preston because their owners have underwritten £80m of losses in recent years and point to the general challenge clubs of our size and location face. There are no easy answers with or without Venky’s ownership and we need to be able to function as a club without their financial underpinnings. It can be done as Luton, Brentford and others have demonstrated, but I’m not sure how we fill that gap for the foreseeable future.

Worth noting Preston’s financial precarious position. Administration would be a disaster for many local employees and for local suppliers, so in the short term we can only hope the money keeps coming.

In what kind of organisation does a CEO undermine the position of one of its directors in a meeting which he must know will be made public? What kind of CEO discusses the details of the company's private business with customers in this way?

JDT and GB find themselves in a situation that they didn't anticipate and I think, overall are doing their best. The wheels have come off over the last month, caused mainly by a small squad which has been diminished by injuries. I have no doubt that if JDT had been given the players he asked for over the summer, we would not be in this position. Of course all clubs make signings that are not successful, and if we'd had a half decent keeper playing this season, the league table might look a lot different. All the club's senior officials must take some responsibility when things go badly, but we all know is it to blame for the last decade's decline. Venky's have blown it, and unless the club experiences some kind a miracle recovery, the glory days are over.

This is bordering on an obsession.

How many Rovers' staff would lose their jobs in such a situation?

The facts are that we finished seventh last season on goal difference. We had cuts to our budget over the summer and have been left with a weaker squad, which has experienced significant injuries this season. Before the injuries we were competitive and doing well.

We look exhausted. A small squad with too many injuries.

I think that the vast majority of our fans think that JDT is doing a great job in exacting circumstances. A real shame that our club is just a side concern of billionaires who just don’t care.
