  1. In fairness mate you have made your point 3 times now and we can't say until tomorrow how correct it is. There was a lot of media attention at the game but I was too far back/ too p1ssed / too chuffed to notice. All I care is we won and I can't tell you how good that feels. Oh did I mention flying is the only way to travel
  2. It's late, i'm tired and i've had a few so was a little quick off the draw there without thinking. Fair point.
  3. My kind o' poster you are buddy There again I'm a rabid racist bully-boy... Nice to see another intolerant fascist join us here... You take the Yids and I'll deal with the Coons... WELCOME................... Look at how big I am I can say whatever words I want and don't care who I offend. You ###### prick. See we can all do it.
  4. Actually I disagree. I think that by giving Cole a big round of applause it emphasises the point that the vast majority of the crowd were booing Yorke for non-racial reasons. That will be the perception whether we like it or not. I will aplaud Cole for what he did and no other reason. However anyone who cannot see how much under the spotlight we will be on Saturday is just kidding themselves.
  5. I may be wrong but as I understood it the first part of Tris' post was directed at you, the second part was a general post hence, 'I defy any of you not to react' which was a fair point. If you choose to take that as a personal challenge then i'd think that says more about you to be honest. This is a message board and if you can only respond with threats of physical violence then it's a poor show.
  6. If you don't want people to address you directly then surely the best plan would be either to stick to your username or not post such ridiculous nonsense.
  7. So we accept then because no real harm was done? Sorry but it's that kind of attitude that leads to far worse things. This story has gone way over the top but not because it was nothing. More because it should not be allowed to tarnish our club. However anyone who seriously believes this issue is trivial needs to have a word with themselves. If I had done something like that I would be an outcast amongst my friends and family and the sad thing is this scrote is probably a hero amongst his peers.
  8. According to my mate who was writing a report for a Birmingham website, the injury he has was giving him problems. He was limping around when he came out in the 2nd half.
  9. WHY NOT BOO HIM ?WHAT WOULD YOU DO CLAP HIM AND CHANT HIS Name? So if I don't boo him then I have to stand and clap him do I? Not sure of your logic really but do the capitals make your point more valid. didnt mean caps sorry Fair enough. I'm not wanting to have a go and I am quite sure it would have been a couple of idiots if at all. I didn't hear anything because it wasn't chanting. I'd be surprised though if Yorke would make such a fuss over a few winker signs. He's seen much worse and usually respsonds with his trademark grin. Agree completely with Brownie about my surprise over the level of the booing. For a player who has not come out with anything negative since he left it was very harsh. Shame it's all detracted from the game really, quite annoyed to see it take headline news on SSN instead of the game itself.

  11. All the players were warming up in front of the Blackburn End presumably because they were told to. When Yorke came on he was pointing to the corner of the Blackburn End and was as annoyed as i've ever seen him. If people are sad enough to boo him then fine but anything more is well out of order and indefensible to me.
  12. Waggy you are arguing a completely separate point to the one Tris is making. Has football on tv reached saturation point? Quite possibly but Tris is arguing that you can't blame football on TV for any perceived drop int crowds at the games. As those figures show for 10 years it has no effect so you've got to look at other areas before pointing the finger.
  13. Oooh Colin you're such a bitch!!
  14. I'm sorry in that case I seem to have completely missed the whole point of this topic as I voted for the person in the above list who I thought was best based on a number of criteria, I didn't say Sherwood was great. By your logic no-one can vote for Garner as that would be blinkered because despite his goals he could never ever be termed a 'great' player.
  15. You're entitled to your opinion. It's just that in this case your opinion is blinkered and wrong. Nonsense once more. I may well be wrong but i'm not blinkered. If I refused to even read the posts and views of others then I would be blinkered, as it happens I just choose to disagree with some and that is entirely different.
  16. Who would you say would go down in history as "great" though? Vaughan or W.G? I'd say Grace Den (not of the prayers variety). However this kind of backs up my point as you go to work tomorrow or anywhere and ask 100 people who WG Grace was and then ask the same 100 who Jimmy Forrest was and what do you think would be the outcome.
  17. But would they really? How much of the game was about natural talent in those days? It was just about pro and still new as a sport. It wasn't far removed from one village chasing a pig's bladder into another village. Did they even have goal posts and offsides? Hardly anyone in the country played the game at that level whereas today it is the biggest thing in the world. There is just no comparison for me. Might as well just vote for the entire 1995 Championship squad then if we're using that logic. That's the attitude that annoys me. What logic? I can't take seriously the idea of voting for someone who played the game when it was barely starting and was so far removed from the game i've know and loved. I have stated previously that one of the greatest players i've seen is Best, I also firmly believe that players like Matthews, Mortensen and Finney would easily be as good now as they had class. I can't be sure about the same for someone who I can read nothing about other than he played in 5 cup winning sides when few teams even played the game. I've voted for Clayton and i'd vote for any other player who I knew enough about or could find enough about to consider but i'm not going to change my opinion to suit others.

  19. This is my opnion. Maybe saying you would only vote for those you have seen is the wrong way of saying it but you clearly will be swayed by that. What others said to me was that with players like Clayton, Douglas and Crompton, then to a massive extent they are players you hear about from an early age as a Rovers fan even now. It's easy therefore to vote for them however with someone like Forrest and even quite a few of the others i've read and even enjoyed the reports but they just don't sway me. I am firmly of the belief that football over 100 years ago just can't be compared to the same stuff that we see today so i'm sorry if that upsets people but there you have it. I have seen Pele although clearly not live, and many others and Best for one was the one player I would love to see live. I and many others aren't closed which is why Clayton got such a massive vote and England for that matter. However people can only go on what they believe not necessarily what they see. To deride them for that is rude and unnecessary.
  20. Fully agree mate. You vote for who you choose based on what you know, read, and take on board for others. Anyone that deny's you the right to do that whatever the reasons for your choice is an arse in my opinion. If you want to vote for Forrest then I respect that and if he wins full power to him. good post
  21. So you are comparing a guy who committed one of the worst atrocities in history and who practically everyone studies in school, with a guy who i've never heard of my Dad's never heard but because he won medals when the game was still barely more than an amateur affair with the rules still being changed every week. Yeah I see where you're coming from now good comparison. Can I change my vote please Den?
  22. Newton was beaten by Eckersley by a country mile. Even without Le Saux he would never have gotten in to the team.
  23. Has it never occurred to you that people don't appreciate being dictated to and labelled spotty oiks and other various insults. By stamping your feet and chucking your toys out of the cot you and Jim may well be achieving the exact opposite of what you claim to want. FLB simply made a great case for Crompton to go in. No name calling, no insults and no labelling people short-sighted know nothings. Result, he got in by a mile. You & Jim have labelled the whole thing a mockery of you don't get your own way and what has happened? Incidentally I stopped voting after the Le Saux thread so you can't blame me. I think as soon as people start slating the thing when who you want doesn't get in it derides the hard work put in and frankly makes a mockery of the idea of a democratic vote. You can vote for whoever you want as long as it's who Jim & Al say you should vote for.
  24. I don't usually attend testimonials, I would certainly attend one for TP as it kind of emphasises the whole point of what one should be. Reward years of loyal service and all that. I would hope that we could get at least 10k seeing as so many have come on to slam the club/Hughes/JW about it. I actually agree with the decision but like others am appalled at the way it was carried out. I lost some of my respect for TP when him and Boersma teamed up for a remake of Dumb & Dumber. They would sit on the bench saying nothing until Souness came down and then promptly jump up and start screaming as if they had been doing it all along. It was then that I felt he was simply coasting like the rest of Souness' hangers on. If Hughes wants his own team then that's fair enough and I think it would be an insult to TP at this stage to offer him the job of teaboy of something. He clearly feels he still has a role to play so hopefully he'll find one. I'll always have mostly fond memories of Tony including my first away trip on my own ( I mean without parents rather than billy no mates) to Sunderland. Got crushed when we arrived late just as Speedie scored. Couldn't breathe, couldn't move either but it was fantastice and I was hooked ever since. A final comment on Tony was that whenever you said anything to him, or asked him a question he always answered you and usually very politely. A true gentleman.
  25. That's the one Paul. It's just off Cross st in the city centre, round the corner from the Royal Exchange.
