  1. It's dead easy to find just walk up Miller st. past the CIS building and turn left at the top where it meets Rochdale Rd. Then walk along Rochdale rd on the left hand side for a few hundred yards and it's on the left hand side a few streets after the Nawaab which is a cracking curry house. Great pub by the way and i'll hopefully be able to meet you there.
  2. Of course they are missing the point. This thread has become completely diverted from the original point it was trying to make. Maybe it's the typical childish response some choose to employ when asked not to do something they go way over the top. e.g Please could you not hurl abuse and threats of violence at your fellow fans when they ask you to sit down gets the response adopts kevin the teenager style huff right then i'll just sit down and not sing or get excited at all then. It's the very same mentality that feels they have to stand up because others are doing it. I'd have more respect for these people if they were making a real stand for something they believed in but they are only doing it because someone else is. How pathetic is that? For one last time can we just be clear on this. On Saturday if you are stood up then when someone asks you to sit down, please just do so rather than hurl abuse and demand they get up and support the team. That's all the majority want. Nothing to do with your attire, or having a few beers ( although maybe your inabuility to hold your ale is part of the problem) and certainly nothing to do with creating an atmosphere. Any clearer?
  3. Is that Kevin and family? I didn't realise they were the ringleaders.
  4. This is our own fans we are talking about here, why should we leave the stewards to get on with it. If we don;t make it clear that the actions like those described aren't welcome then we are just accepting it.
  5. Great post Tris, I have to say that the behaviour of some of our fans was one of the only sour notes of a great weekend for me. Every pub we went in we met either friendly locals or friendly Rovers fans. Why then do we have a situation in the ground where our own fans spend the entire game abusing the stewards and worst of all their own fans. I'm not going to name individuals here but you know who you are. We all saw you and you should be ashamed. When a fellow fan asks you in a polite manner to sit down there is only one response to make. That response is to sit down, it is not acceptable to hurl abuse and demand they stand up. Despite what you seem to believe the majority of our travelling fans don't appreciate your behaviour and don't think you are on some kind of crusade to stand up for your rights. What irritates me is there is just no excuse because I and most of the people I go with have a few drinks before the match and are often quite vocal during it. None of them behave in the same manner as you lot did though and if they did then they would be told. As other people have said, it's not just kids either. There was an older guy about 4 rows from the back who got involved at any opportunity and just shouted abuse at the police along the lines they were a disgrace. Why? Because Norwich fans were standing. Do you complain when pulled over for speeding that someone else was doing it as well? How old are you that you're only argument is they are doing it so why can't we. I would rather have 50 less fans as that is the amount that are causing this problem. We would still have a good atmosphere and still enjoy the games just as much. Just ask yourselves how you would feel having your Dad or Mum abused simply for asking people to do what they should be doing anyway.
  6. Well considering it was my post then I think it should fall to me to put it in it's true context. If you seriously think I would waste my time posting sly digs at you then you know nowt. The comments about the respect and awards were made in reponse to Mark/Bellamy. I'm not having a go at individuals but it annoys me to see people opinions derided on a basis of length of posting, etc. Mock them for being crap by all means but not because they don't have respect. Secondly I don't believe Hughes can be judged yet and haven't said that, I think he should not be above criticism is my view. I've always been of the opnion that a manager/player should be given time before you form a valid opnion. It was that contradiction I was referring to which another poster highlighted. Finally as I've said before there is no way that team is that bad but on current form we are on a one way ticket to the nationwide. You found positives from Villa, but I found positives from Southampton and Manyoo. The point is I won't accept that this team is that bad but you already know that.
  7. I hope and pray you are right 92er. From what i've seen so far I do have some belief that the current management team know what they are doing. I'm just thoroughly depressed at present which is understandable after 2 4-0's but I just see a side destined for the drop at present.
  8. Quite right too Ewood Dream. Whether or not you are respected is irrelevant as is any so called award. We are all entitled to an opinion and personally i've seen a lot dafter one's on here this weekend. This thread is probably intended a bit tongue in cheek but does raise a few valid points. It is apparently fine to judge a player after 1 or 2 games yet the manager gets judged on a different timescale. I supported the appointment of Hughes and still do in many respects but I don't think he should be above criticism. Look at where we are in the league, look at the goal difference, the reports of players arguing amongst themselves. All very worrying. I was often told that I was blind to Souness' failings. However anyone that believes that Hughes will be performing miracles to even keep us up is clearly so blinded by their dislike of Souness that they are being irrational. Clearly there were problems but we still have a basis of a good side, if they are going to continue playing like this then we will be down by Christmas. That is the situation we are in.
  9. If I only went every time I thought we would win, I don't think i'd be attending many games at the moment.
  10. He was the catalyst behind the most succesful period of United's history ever. Simple as that.
  11. Everything about me wants to votr for Douglas apart from this one voice shouting 'go on vote Ripley, you know it'll wind Jim up'. Incidentally to the poster quoting Best, Law, Charlton as United legends, the player voted greatest ever united player was Cantona. Why? Because he had a bigger impact than any other player, ever.
  12. The biggest difference is a fella by the name of Steve Gibson. We used to have a similar benefactor by the name of Jack Walker but those days are gone. I'd love to see the likes of JFH, Viduka, Mendieta etc playing for us but how can we afford them. We can only hope that Hughes is able to get the best out of our players like Fat Sam or Moyse is doing. When are our fans going to realise that the days of big names have gone now.
  13. There speaks the voice of experience. To anyone who does not vote for Bryan Douglas, the greatest player to wear a blue and white shirt, I hereby give warning that I shall personally come round to their hovel and stand on their heads. That confirms my vote for Ripley then.
  14. I'm afraid he's just thick AS so it's best just to ignore him like most of us have started to do about his sad little rants about Matteo.
  15. I'm going to the Slipknot concert in Oslo next friday you know. But don't worry, I don't wear makeup, leather and all black. In fact I'm am going because Slayer are the supporting act I thought it was a joint tour. They were billing it as 'The Unholy Alliance' in Manchester. It was suggested that because Slipknot's popularity had slumped they were trying this joint venture.
  16. I think Peter Kay best watch his back with comedy like that. Did you see what he did there? Wright, Wight
  17. Only just read this.....Sorry but I'd really hate to have to knowingly admit to such blinkered political thinking. How the flerk can anybody supposedly with intelligence align themselves to any of our political parties? You really do not do yourself justice with such a 'conservative' political mindset Jim. 'Let the scales fall from thine eyes' cock. Thank God that I for one, can continue to keep an open (albeit jaundiced)mindset. Theno, if yours is an open mind then thank god mines closed. Amen to that
  18. Complete and utter nonsense, Williams is one of the most respected CE's in the business and we are lucky to have him. As for the comments about denying interest in players every club does it, it's about not laying all your cards on the table at once. For someone who states his desire to only argue facts you seem to talk a hell of a lot of rubbish. As for the trust, unfortunately they can do exactly what they want with Rovers and are not in anyway obliged to invest in the club. Like it or not but we can't make people invest, what we can do is get the club on such a sound financial footing that we can at least sustain our level without investment. If you bothered checking those facts you seem so keen on you would find that is exactly what we have done, largely down to Williams. Better still ask philipl to explain it to you.
  19. I watched bits of both West Brom and Palace and wasn't in the least disturbed to see them winning. Whilst it would be easy to have a comfort zone of poor teams not winning, I feel we are good enough not to worry about other teams. I've seen enough under the new regime to be confident that we should be pushing to break into the top half rather than worry about the bottom 3. It is interesting to see the unfancied sides picking up points against some of the supposedly decent teams like Fulham. Another sending off tonight for a team that seems to have no discipline at all. If as expected Cole gets his ban increased then they could be in some trouble. Onwards and upwards.
  20. Rooney is a world beater and he cost £27m. We can't afford to buy world class players. If you seriously don't believe that Ferguson improves the team then I see little point discussing it to be honest. Nicky Butt is nothing like the same kind of player that Fergie is. He would be a great partner for him but alas we haven't got him but they are completely different players.
  21. Whether Ferguson is worth £7m is pretty much irrelevant, it's what we had to pay to get him. He may not be in the calibre of Viera or Keane but then again if he was then we wouldn't have him and he would have cost £17m. Anyone who seriously wants rid of our best player needs to have a serious word with themselves. Neat & tidy? he was a lot more than that yesterday now wasn't he, he needs to do it more often but with the right players around him he will do.
  22. What do you want him to do? Get down on his knees and pray for forgiveness. I'm not defending his performance it was poor and IMO he gets away with stuff other players haven't because he goes and applauds the Blackburn End longer than anyone else. Face it he plays you lot like a fiddle, he can be poor quite often and it's usually oh well Tugay at least he cares. All that doesn't alter the fact that I don't believe we have a player who plays that role better. If someone comes in and does it better great drop Tugay, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.
  23. Tugay was poor yesterday and the odd careless ball that he gives away is typical of him and very annoying. However I see no alternative to that position. Flitcroft has some attributes but positional sense isn't one of them and for me he would just be off wandering. As for the other point yes he puts the tackles in but he's best doing that in the middle of the pitch where he can get in amongst the opposition and break them up not giving free-kicks away which we clearly can't defend from. I would expect Tugay to continue until at least January until Hughes can bring someone in to carry out the role. I initally thought Matteo would be ok in the role but like Flitty he is not disciplined enough and his distribution is poor. The thing with the role is that the player has to mop everything up and then pass it on to Fergie or Djorkaeff. We have plenty of spoilers and if Flitcroft plays then it has to be somewhere like yesterday where he can impact on the opposition and get amongst them. Tugay is frustrating but to me the best of a bad bunch in that role at present.
  24. The day any footballer is too old not to learn anything is the day they should retire. It is utter nonsense to suggest that with decent coaching and someone pointing out certain things that players a) won't improve and most importantly the team won't improve. One of the things the that has already been worked on from the stuff being shouted on Saturday is the stopping of crosses. It may seem obvious and laughable but too many easy crosses were being allowed and were costing us goals. There was a marked improvement on Saturday. The problems from set pieces is down to the team as a whole not just the defence. I have utmost confidence that the coaching team in place will improve this issue. As for your comments on Amo & Matteo. Ask a number of Rangers fans if they wanted him to leave and the majority will tell you no. A few may well mock him now but when he was the fan's favourite he wasn't mocked but fans are fickle. As for the Matteo comment well should Newcastle not have bought Milner or Boro not bought Viduka, after all they were relegated in a side that didn't score enough goals. Clearly certain players will have to be brought in but if you really believe that no improvement can be gained then all I can say is thank god the coaching staff are not as negative as you are.
  25. Good review that Scotty and really refreshing that we agree on most of what went on. Have to say just watched again on Football first and the defending does get worse with each viewing. The fact is though that as a team we are not defending. The two centre-halves are struggling but they are getting very little help. It's all well and good people slating the defence for the set-pieces but it's often the midfield not helping. Emerton was actually marking Delaney for the 2nd goal, Flitcroft was marking Angel for the disallowed goal and another knock down, although at least credit Flitcroft for stepping out to leave Angel offside for the disallowed one. I'm not intending to single out these two though as they were not the only ones that did it. From one set piece near the end, Stead was on the halfway line and Dickov in the box, Why? Because Dickov challenges whilst Stead loses headers to blokes half his size like de la Cruz. Like Scott says this is something we can and will work on of that i'm sure. Overall though pretty positive.
