  1. I wasn’t there. I’m relaying the information I got from people who were. My first thoughts were not about questioning the Dack transfer, they were concerns for Ewood Park. Thank god for the ACV and well done to Paul!
  2. Steve Waggott. At the fans forum.
  3. And I expect that they need the money quicker than within 6 months so it’s back to the drawing board
  4. Apparently there has been a lot of talk about this at the fans forum tonight. I wasn’t at the meeting, but apparently the big news was this: We are right on the cusp of breaching FFP rules The plan was to sell Dack this window to remain compliant Since his injury they have looked into a sale and lease/buy back of Ewood. They decided against this due to the ACV on the ground. Other avenues are being explored. So I wouldn’t expect any signings this window.
  5. What do Mowbray and Brereton have in common? The same agent!
  6. Sent to The Hague to answer for his crimes against football.
  7. The referee yesterday got loads of stick. He’s continuing to get loads of abuse on Twitter. No denying he did a really poor job, but I’m sure he tried his best and did his job honestly and with integrity. Where is the consistency? I’ve seen no outcry and concern for his mental health and general wellbeing? Ps. Brereton didn’t cry. Load of bollocks.
  8. Invites are sent to various supporter groups and they have to respond with the names of those attending and any questions they wish to submit. BRFCS are one of those groups.
  9. I’m definitely one of those that lost patience with Pedersen during the latter half of his spell here. I would agree entirely that his form dropped off massively and he was lucky to play as frequently as he did for a good couple of seasons. However, even at his worst he is far and away better than 99% of the dross we have had since, and as frustrating as I found him I don’t think his commitment to the club can be questioned. Accusing him of milking the club is incredibly unfair. Rather than blue and white tinted spectacles, I’d say it’s more a case of don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone. That said, I don’t agree with all this “legend” stuff flying about, or calls for him to have a testimonial. Particularly when better servants to the club, who earned for less and actually qualified for one never got one.
  10. Traditionally you’d get one for 10 years at a club, with the purpose being to give the player some financial reward when wages were a lot more modest. In this day and age, where Leon Best got far more money out of us than Simon Garner ever did, they tend to be charity events at higher levels. If a top flight player today fancied buying a pub he could just save up for a couple of weeks. Still a thing in lower leagues and different countries.
  11. If we are going for a Pedersen 11, I think we should remember there is a left winger who actually qualified for a testimonial but never got one. Therefore I’d make it a joint venture. Pedersen 11 . Friedel Neill Samba Nelsen Warnock Bentley Savage Tugay Pedersen McCarthy Santa Cruz Subs: Robinson, Zurab, Emerton, Johansson, Gray, Mokoena, Reid, Thompson, Bentley, Roberts, Derbyshire Wilcox 11 . Flowers Kenna Hendry Moran Le Saux Ripley Cowans Atkins Wilcox Garner Shearer Subs: Mimms, Brown, Wright, Morrison, Pearce, Marker, Batty, Carsley, McKinlay, Skinner, Richardson, Sellars, Gallacher, Newell, Speedie, Baah, Hill, Dobson, Marcolin, Davidson Lots of subs required for the second team! Raise funds for the Len Johnrose trust. Bellamy used to pick on Pedersen. Berg would get an invite, but can’t see him coming!
  12. Downing, by a mile. Nyambe is the only other player with a chance of being in the conversation if he plays regularly for the remainder of the season. If he’d have got any sort of look in for the first quarter of games instead of inexplicably playing second fiddle to Bennett it would be between him and Downing.
  13. I suspect what’s happened here is as follows... Brereton has performed poorly, again, and been subbed off. A few people have made ironic cheers, maybe the odd couple have booed, and a few people probably shouted something along the lines of “get off, you are shit”. The majority of the supporters there will have stood up and applauded him with varying degrees of enthusiasm. He probably looked a bit disappointed in his performance. Which he should have been. This whole scenario has since been reimagined with our fans as a baying mob hurling disgusting abuse at an apparently crushed and inconsolably sobbing Brereton as he trudged off the field. Criticism and abuse are not one and the same. Referees are human, all of them undoubtably try their best, yet they are barracked from all corners in every single match, and their performances scrutinised and criticised whatever they do. Why doesn’t the virtue signalling extend to them? Branding any criticism of a footballer as abuse is really problematic. I’ve seen fans vilified and bullied disgracefully via social media for simply voicing an opinion (the situation with Bennett on twitter earlier this season being a prime example). There is also a risk of it threatening to trivialise real issues like racism. Also, please let’s not try diagnosing Brereton’s mental health. I expect the support network He has around the club will do that far more effectively than any of us are capable of. Obviously I hope he is ok, and wouldn’t wish any abuse or mental health illness upon him. I do however think he has been an abysmal signing, and one which is more than a little fishy.
  14. I expect the claim that they ever have done is absolute fantasy
  15. Anybody heard anything about the date for this yet? They are already very late with this.
  16. Pretty happy with that line up considering the injuries we have. I’m a big proponent of 4-4-2 but I think with our two most natural wingers having to fill in at full back we are better off going 4-2-3-1. I’d really like to see Buckley get a run of games in the ‘Dack role’.
  17. More annoyed today than I was on Monday. Went with a 4-4-2, yet STILL the only players offering us any width are our full backs. The Peter Jackson hospitality must be on the generous side, cos whoever decided Lenihan was MOTM must have been steaming. He was crap again, and our back four looks shaky and disorganised without Adarabioyo there. I thought Bell did ok until he decided to boot their player. Anyone complaining about that penalty decision is either blind or bonkers. Buckley clearly has plenty of ability and a very good brain - if he had the physique of Brereton, he could go right to the very top. He needs serious game time and a lot of gym work as soon as possible. Walton looking good again, though I’d like to see less pass backs to him. Armstrong does sod all except score a penalty and thinks he’s Shearer reincarnated. Sick of him. Gallagher grafted but won’t get double figures in a season as long as he’s got a hole in his arse.
  18. Disappointing night, but let’s not blow it out of proportion. They came and did a job. That Morsy is an horrible bastard, but they battled hard. We need a bit more of that sometimes. Both our centre backs and both our wingers were particularly bad tonight. No surprise that Adarabioyo was a massive miss. If there’s any money available get it spent on a centre half for goodness sake. The uncontested drop ball rule is rubbish, and that incident highlighted just how poor a grip the ref had on the game throughout. Not strong enough. Walton’s best performance for us was nice to see. Get well soon Dack.
  19. My god that latest episode of Dynamite was horrendous. The bad far outweighed the good, and that ending was atrocious. Dark Order make Aces and Eights look like the Four Horsemen. They need a rethink really quickly, because this sort of rubbish will turn people off in droves. To be honest I will only be tuning in to the next episode out of morbid curiosity rather than any expectation of being entertained. Cornette reviewed the show on this weeks Experience... and he shows just how they are missing someone with his know how behind the scenes. It’s not just a scathing attack, well, not all of it, but some genuine constructive criticisms that I really hope somebody listens to.
  20. https://twitter.com/btsportwwe/status/1205171944250843138 another Rovers/Wrestling crossover tweet
  21. Credit to Mowbray today. We were more than good value for the three points, though we should probably have been out of sight at half time. I thought every player did well, and the last 4 games have meant those 11 shirts are theirs to lose. Few specials mentions... It shouldn’t be underestimated how good a signing Downing has proven to be. Probably our most consistent performer of the season and possesses genuine quality. Nyambe is getting better and better. His confidence is clearly growing by the game. I’ve been critical of Lenihan in the past, but he looks a different beast with Adarabioyo beside him. Seeing him plough through a pile of bodies to smash a header was brilliant. As for Adarabioyo, he’s going to have some career! Evans is in the form of his life. Absolutely fantastic today. He was everywhere. Armstrong still frustrates, but what a strike. Should’ve had another one at least. But if he keeps up that level of performance I’ll gladly eat my words. If he improves the consistency of his final product we’ve got a player on our hands. Looks as though I’m the only one, but I thought Mowbray got his subs spot on, although I didn’t at the time... I rolled my eyes when I saw Gallagher trotting over time the wing, but he put a real shift in and Armstrong for those few minutes dragged their defenders all over the place. Yes, we lost a focal point in Graham, but I think it worked considering we were inevitably going to be under the cosh with them desperately chasing it at the end. Bennett sured things up, basically becoming an additional defender. Buckley was just a time killer and fresh legs, he needs to hit the gym hard though.
  22. The last two episodes of Dynamite have been, on the whole, awful. Some very good bits interspersed in garbage. I think DE absolutely nailed it saying it had an indie show feel. I absolutely guarantee that at least 50% of the AEW roster would not be allowed on WWE programming, they would be sent to developmental (not NXT shows, the performance centre) for at least a year because they are so lacking in the basics. Some of those are people AEW seems to be pushing. Some common threads in almost every match they air are that they are over choreographed, incoherently moving from spot to spot, loads of false finishes, decent looking punches are never thrown, loads of super kicks, stomps and dives, a general lack of logic and an unawareness of where the cameras are. I like the idea of quarterly PPV events, but the pacing of the build is all wrong. It also seems as though there is only a very small handful of performers they feel are capable of building feuds and storylines around. Plenty of potential, but it’s all a big mess at the moment in my opinion. They have a rabidly loyal core fanbase, many of which will gladly delude themselves as they have their colours nailed firmly to the AEW mast. I don’t know how long this will last, and I can’t see them growing their viewership any time soon.
  23. It was very strange. All this and then they do a thank you piece to camera for him.
  24. It would be amazing to see him in AEW just to see twitter explode! He has stated numerous times he has no desire to work anything like a full time schedule, just one of many reasons NWA was a good fit for him. He might go back when the furore dies down, but I think he will be happy enough doing his podcasts and what not for the foreseeable.
