  1. I jokingly likened Broughton to the 'Hitman' game character last night, as he has seemingly shown more decisiveness in five minutes than Waggott has in five years. I'm convinced that had we not found Broughton, the managerial farce would still be ongoing now. It's no wonder things have been how they are at the club, regarding contracts, signings etc, with operators like swag and co on the ground. I was initially of the view that Broughton wouldn't be much cop, as I thought he was a Venky pick who would be of the general mould. However, him being found by an external agency, his general demeanour from the few clips I have seen and his apparent role in getting JDT here makes me think he means business. Long way to go, but he doesn't seem to be a bullshitter right now. I have more faith in him getting things right than a pretender like swag. How many instances have there been of swag confidently claiming x, y and z are going to happen, only for it not to be the case? Stitch pitch, the out of contract being sold in Jan if they haven't signed up by then, Lenihan being close to renewing. It's laughable that he has the arrogance to challenge the players to find better if they are able to, while doing his best to save every penny he can. He's never winning that battle. One conversation with swag is enough for a top manager to see straight through him, yet some of our fans seem to have been bowled over by him due to kind treatment from him in person and the lounge 'experience'. Hopefully Broughton and JDT are given the backing from the owners to get on with it, as the pair of them have, so far, brought us a renewed energy and renewed hope.
  2. Watching those clips had me wondering who Broughton reminded me of. I've got it now. Your mission, Agent 47: Infiltrate the Football Club, take out the rogue agents and win PROMOTION.
  3. I think the poster who mentioned it said it was in another clip, the bit with Dack. Might be on the Rovers website or the Twitter page. I have only seen the one you have seen, where he was staring straight ahead. It did have a bit of a school vibe about it with the lads at the back looking bored. It's been easy street for too long for some of them. We need JDT and his assistant to shake things up.
  4. Yeah, Bassini didn't sound convinced about keeping Bowyer on. Warburton getting the Birmingham job with Eustace as his assistant. Decent appointment for them is Warburton. The ownership issue is a big problem for them though.
  5. It's clear that he is a fan of Markanday already. He focused on him twice there when the players were going past him. At the end it sounded like he said to Markanday "you're a really good player, you're fit to go now". Think he's going to be a key player for us next season.
  6. It's the first time in 12 years that we've had a manager speak with genuine positivity about the club, in my opinion. The first time in 12 years we've had somebody with a plan and somebody who means business. I can't help but feel a bit excited by it. There's a different vibe about all of this, different than anything that has come before. I shouldn't go overboard, as this needs the owners to back him properly and not do a Lambert. Having said that, a ball is still to be kicked but I think we're going to be the modern day version of 'the entertainers'. It's JDT's fault for talking about high intensity football and needing to entertain the fans 😁.
  7. Grammar School connected, hence the backing of club policy, imo. Nothing wrong with being positive and of course these are exciting changes on the face of it. However, "best owners in the Championship"? Yes, that's Venky's who are being referred to. Waggott and Co are also being bigged up for their efforts. Seriously? In my view, there are people out there who have had the royal treatment off the car salesman down in the lounges and what have you, who now can't say a word against him and what the club are doing.
  8. The good thing is Broughton and JDT seem to have a plan. Listening to them, they have a vision in mind. There hasn't been a plan at the club for a long time. We have been winging it for the last 11 years. They just need to be allowed to implement their ideas with the right backing from the owners.
  9. Only just got round to watching the JDT interview in full. It's made me realise just how unenthusiastic and unexcited I have been about Rovers for so many years. JDT is already a breath of fresh air in comparison to the man who has just left. I know he has to back this up with results, but it's refreshing to see a Rovers manager exude such positivity and enthusiasm. I've got a good feeling about this appointment. As long as the owners back him, we might just be on to a good thing here. "I'm used to winning games and winning is addictive". Yes, Jon! I doubt we will see any of the shoulder shrugging nonsense from this man. He talks about wanting to entertain the fans and for us to have possession with a purpose. It's sounding exciting so far, but of course we'll have to wait and see how it plays out. Noticed him mention how they've already had a few meetings on recruitment and the smile when he said "let's wait and see who we bring in". The next few weeks have the potential to be very exciting. Just back him with some funds, Venky's. COYB.
  10. It's a strange one. Made even stranger by the fact that David Sullivan is funding most of it. Bassini said he is putting in £10m himself. Sullivan is reportedly putting in £35m to help him buy it. It doesn't make any sense. Bassini said in that TalkSPORT clip that he has a document stating that if he defaults, then David Sullivan will not take control of the club. However, most of the journalists are saying the opposite, I.e Sullivan will take over in that situation. I think Bowyer will leave based on how Bassini tried to avoid the question.
  11. A naive move by him to go on talkSPORT where Simon Jordan could give him a grilling and rip his explanations up. He deserves it though. Listening to him, it's no surprise the crocodile tear spiv tried to get him to buy Rovers before he found Venky's. I'd be very worried if I was a Birmingham fan with this chancer trying to get a hold of the club.
  12. Spurs are quietly putting a very good squad together. Perisic is a quality addition. Bissouma is a steal at £25m. It's baffling that Arsenal and United have let that happen without a fight. Spurs just need to sort their defence out now, imo. They are apparently chasing Djed Spence and Pau Torres. Get them in and they will be looking good. Enough for a title charge? Not sure, as City and Liverpool are miles ahead of the competition. Conte isn't one to just settle for a top 4 place though. It was all he could do in the season just gone, but he'll be going for the top prize next season.
  13. I've said it before, Matty. You go and engage with them at Ewood but they do a job on you instead by making you feel like an important fan. Ego stroking. They'll drop a few bits of info here and there, sure. You leave thinking you're the man and that those forum lot and others are clueless idiots. Situation diffused. Job done.
  14. I know a Pedersen was mentioned above as a potential right back, but there's another one I would like us to go for. Kristian Pedersen, the Danish left back at Birmingham. His contract is up this summer and he has confirmed he is leaving the club. On a free, 27, plenty of Championship experience and better than Pickering, for me. Would be happy with him coming in as our first choice left back.
  15. Southgate is the Mowbray of international football. Doesn't have a clue what to do with the talent at his disposal, so goes the defensive, scared route and gets humiliated. He's peaked with the Euros, his time is up.
  16. Same here. I've been trying to imagine how I would have felt had we appointed Kompany instead. I don't think I would have been all that enthused by it. What he has going for him is that he was an inspirational captain at City and he will probably have first dibs on any of the exciting youngsters City want to loan out. In terms of managerial ability so far, he doesn't seem all that. I think we've got the better deal, though admittedly we'll have to wait and see how that goes.
  17. I was a fan of Jeff Kenna. Solid, reliable right back and a part of the good times. Watching old season reviews and highlights remind me of how good Steven Reid was. I think he was underrated at the time. However, it's fair to say his injury issues held him back quite a bit. Aside from that rocket at Wigan, I loved his strong running through the middle of the pitch and his long passing was good too. His goal away at Sunderland in April/May 2006 stands out for me due to the bursting run. Finally, the main man. Duffer. What a player. He could twist any defender inside out and was truly world class around about the 2002 World Cup time. Happy to have seen such quality and the fact that his last season was his best in a Rovers shirt in '02/03.
  18. Shows their lack of football knowledge. A very good European striker in his day, yet they've never heard of him. Says a lot. This isn't a rose tinted reply to them, but I genuinely think Kompany is going to flop at Burnley. He isn't all that, imo, and will get found out as a manager. I think we've got the better deal, but time will tell I suppose. I already can't wait for those two games against them.
  19. Welcome JDT. Good to see us try something different and avoid the dreaded names. It could have been better having been in for Farke and Carvalhal, but it could also have been a lot worse. Pleased to see that the favoured agency has been shunned this time. JDT is a winner from his playing days, a Champions League winner at that and has won two league titles as manager at Malmo. Something tells me he isn't going to be happy to just float in mid table, nor is he likely to shrug off not winning games. Reading up on his style of play and view on football gives me cause for optimism. Attacking football with high energy. Of course, the proof will be out on the grass, but I like what I'm hearing so far. I just hope he is given some funds to be able to implement his plan. The exciting part now is seeing which players we will be in for, as I'd expect it to be a different pool altogether than previously, with JDT and Broughton working together and bringing fresh ideas to the table. I was ready to welcome Adkins, as that was the type of move I was expecting, so I'll gladly take this fresh approach which could bring us something different.
  20. Ronan Curtis was being linked with Hibs today, or yesterday, I should say. Genuine question, what's with all these Hibs and Rovers links emerging over recent months? The bald one - drafted in at Hibs as some kind of Academy whatever. Cocu - was linked with the Hibs job first, then the Rovers job next. Mowbray - One time Hibs manager, was linked with them again after leaving Rovers. Park - One time Hibs Youth Academy Director. Turns up at Rovers. JDT - Apparently had talks with Hibs but they couldn't afford him. Now he is heavy favourite to be the next Rovers manager. Ronan Curtis - Been linked with Rovers a number of times, now Hibs want him. Is it simply a case of fishing in the same pond? Normally it would point towards that, but with somebody in place at Hibs, you can never be sure what it is.
  21. I used to buy the training tops regularly. That was until they started bringing them out in garish colours and the prices went a bit silly. I quite like this shade of blue though. On another note, good to see Dack wearing the blue Predator Manias. When did they come back out? I used to be mad about the Predator Mania range back in the day. Think they went big around 2002-ish. My favourite boots to this day.
  22. On the same day we have Haaland signing for City, Darwin Nunez going to Liverpool and Jon Dahl Tomasson heading to Rovers. The big guns mean business 😁.
  23. Last year the same thing was being put forward by a certain poster. We don't need to sign two strikers, we've got Butterworth and McBride. We don't need to sign two central midfielders, we've got Davenport and Garrett. We don't need to sign two right backs, we've got Pike. None of those youngsters did a thing. 12 months on and no lessons seem to have been learnt. The likes of Phillips, Garrett and Vale might be decent, they might not. Phillips is highly thought of and I look forward to seeing what he can do. However, to count them in at this stage as being able to contribute and suggest that this reduces the need for a signing in their position is madness, imo.
  24. My first thought upon seeing the interview was, that's another yes man in the building. He might have plans and want to make changes, but these owners don't allow anybody to get ahead of themselves. He'll do as he's told.
  25. Was always going to be the case. Liege actually have some ambition. It's why I'm not getting drawn in to the JDT talk. This can easily go the same way as Farke, Carvalhal and Deila. If he is the man to come in, I will back him. However, I can't shake off the idea of a potential sting in the tail. Woodgate. Boro connections and no doubt will be championed by the Boro supporting agency man. On the off chance that Vineeth or any family member is looking in, do not go for Woodgate. He would be an awful appointment. Him playing for Real Madrid 15 years ago means nothing! He was one of their worst ever signings. Oh, and tell the agent to F.O, his opinion isn't needed.
