The following is rumour and speculation so we can't say for sure either way. For discussion purposes though: According to a poster over the road, somebody made an approach to buy Rovers as recently as October 2025. The rumour goes on to add that the enquiry was refused by the owners via their conduit. How true this is, I don't know. Maybe somebody with sources could look into this? I know two posters on here have mentioned interest from two different potential investors recently. One using the word 'significant' regarding a bid. It could all just be gossip, but looking at this US/Saudi guy who is trying to buy PNE...I'm wondering out loud. Please don't tell me this guy tried to buy us, only to then turn his sights towards PNE as there was nothing doing here. I hope that's just me overthinking things. It would be a sickener if such a scenario occurred.

It all started off so well. He was a highly regarded poster who would provide us all with important season ticket sale updates using his own calculation system. He loved being the "go to" man on this matter. He duly took the praise that came his way. His opinion was respected. He was a part of the family...and then suddenly... things changed. They say "never meet your heroes" and you @Goozburger are the embodiment of that for me. I can't say how disappointed and stunned I was when I randomly one day, happened to stumble upon the other forum, only to see Goozburger laying into this forum and it's members for being "negative" and using other hurtful words that I can't bring myself to repeat. I couldn't believe it. I thought things were cool? How wrong I was. It really did feel akin to that gutting feeling you're left with after seeing what your hero is really like. He stated it was the negativity and moaning that drove him away from here. What he calls "negativity" is what I call people "saying it as it is". I do not recall anybody personally abusing him or telling him to shut up or anything as such when on here. He'll know better than me on that front. If anything like that has happened, then I may understand his disdain for this place, to a point. However if any of us "saying it as it is" over the years about Pasha, Venky's, the crooked agent tossers etc is what has upset you and caused you to do a Sol Campbell on us...then me and I suspect nobody on here will ever apologise for that. We cannot apologise for speaking bluntly about what has happened to our club and the people at the heart of it. They deserve every bit of stick that comes their way. It's nothing personal against you, Gooz. It never was. Of course, you are entitled to debate on here and share your opinions. Nobody is telling you otherwise. However, I can't tell you how sad it was to see you turn up here on Saturday evening with a smug 'ha, how did the boycott go?' type of vibe. If you're honest with yourself, you will know that I am correct with that assessment. That's exactly what you tried to do but then tried to bat off as respectful opinion. Anyway... it's never too late, you silly sausage. Pull yourself together and remember what we once had. Get away from those no hopers you associate with, and get back home on here, is my advice. You will see when the poison has left this club and we are back in the Premier League under new owners that the noisy lot on here were spot on to be calling out all the bullshit. Spot on to be trying boycotts and more. That time is coming.

Of course, we'll never know for sure regards his motivation, Rev. We can only put forward our opinions. I suppose it is theoretically possible that somebody might have asked him to put something out. If his statement had solely urged fans not to boycott and to support the team instead, I'd personally lean towards that theory. However, I see this statement as being his genuine thoughts on the matter. Within the same statement he also tactfully calls out the leadership, he tells them to show some humility, to take the first step and to do something to unite the club and the fans. He has also called for Venky's to sell the club and stated that they have wasted a lot of money and that their ownership of the club is doing nobody any good. IMO, those are not the words of somebody who has been asked by whoever at the club to put a few words out to discredit the boycott. A PR man wouldn't act in such a way. Last night he said the same again. That's where he is coming from. He wants the club to be fixed and for the fans and the staff he knows at the club to be happy again. That's how I see it. Why has he piped up now? Well...I suspect he is exasperated that the same problems he faced in 2014-2016 are STILL occurring today, 10 years on! Current events are likely resonating with him. Remember, he left the club out of principle in 2016, unhappy at how the club was being ran ala JDT, Eustace. He's a football man who has just heard/seen us put in a shambolic display at Swansea, with arguably the worst ragtag side ever seen in a Rovers shirt. The mood around the place is understandably low and we are three days away from a planned boycott. If ever he was going to speak on the matter, I'd say now is the perfect time to do so. Nothing sus about it, IMO.

The bit in bold is explained by Myers in the interview below, at 1:58:20. Myers had just left Everton and was out of work, when he received a call from Venkatesh Rao in India telling him how much they wanted him to work for Rovers. He told Myers to get himself down to Ewood and that they would sort it all out for him. Derek Shaw met Myers the following day and told him he had been given instructions from India to appoint Myers as a Director. Myers explains how he found this bizarre because he thought he was coming to Rovers as a Press Officer, not as a Director. This was a call made in India. Why? I presume it is because Myers went out to meet them in Pune in the early days of the takeover when working for Sky. Remember the puff piece Sky did on the owners back then, when covering the 'Pune 9' trip etc? I seem to recall there was footage of their mansions, a brief couple of words from one or two of the family about Rovers and something about one of the brothers having a collection of 70 vintage cars or something. Anyway, I'm sure Myers was a part of that trip, leading the coverage and he was somebody that they struck up a friendship with. In the interview below, Myers reveals that he was asked several times to join Rovers before he actually did, when working for Sky, but he didn't want to leave Sky for Rovers. This suggests he made quite an impression on Venkatesh and Co who were eager to have him on board ever since that initial meeting. He says in yesterday's statement, that Venky's are lovely, respectful people who had ambitions for Rovers. This is almost certainly based on what he experienced when in their company in Pune. They might well be respectful people, they might be fantastic hosts, but they are not fantastic football club owners. To be fair, Myers acknowledges this in the statement, when he notes that saying something and actually achieving it are two different things. He has called for them to sell up and leave in a respectful way and we can't really expect him to do more than that. He's never going to lay into them or criticise them and I wouldn't expect him to. IMO, Myers is a genuine guy who shouldn't be copping stick for anything in that statement. I don't think there is an agenda behind it. He states in the interview below that he wanted to bring a divided fanbase together at Rovers, he wanted to try and fix a fractured club and fanbase. You can see these same sentiments in last night's statement where he says he understands both sides of the argument. He wants the fans to back the players and staff, hence he doesn't want fans to boycott, but he also understands the 15 years of frustration and that change needs to happen. Him calling for the owners to sell up, in a respectful way, should be enough to tell us how he feels. He's not a Rovers fan, but he understands how we feel and why we want them out. It's just that he, personally, has a respectful relationship with them so he can't go all out like we can. Incidentally, Myers reveals that he left Rovers out of principle because he didn't like the way the club was being ran and the direction things were heading in. Does that sound familiar? I suspect he, JDT and Eustace would have a lot of things in common to talk about. All these years on from Myers leaving Rovers and we're in the same position again as a club. We can all see where this is heading, including Myers. He's not the bad guy here. He's one of the very few genuine people that we have had here in 15 years of chancers, snakes and bullshitters. I recommend everybody to listen to this from 1 hour 58 onwards for context. His statement will make more sense after doing so. Myers spends a good 15 minutes or so talking about Rovers and Venky's, the running of the club etc. He was the man responsible for putting the historic timeline around the ground, the mural. Myers wanted to showcase the club's history and was trying to get the fans to reconnect with the club. The timeline was discarded not long after he left Rovers, which says it all about the bastards who remained in place after he left.

It came to light last year I think it was, that Pasha is on a salary of £500k a year. He's been here for 10 years, officially. Even if he was on lower than that in the years 2015-2023, he has still accumulated millions by way of salary in over a decade. If we still need around £20m a year from the owners after all these years, as the hierarchy keep alluding to, what is he doing exactly in his role that keeps the owners satisfied with him being their man here?

Poor Val. You know when you have seen a movie so many times before and you know how it ends? That's the feeling here. Expecting multiple signings before the Hull game? Good luck with that one. If Val or anybody close to him was wondering why we dislike Pasha and this regime, he/they should have a fair idea by now. They will be in no doubt come Feb 1st. Lee Bowyer is the prediction I made a few weeks ago based on certain patterns and I'm sticking with that call. Former Charlton. Former Birmingham. Has Championship experience. He has not long left Montserrat and is out of work. How desperate is he to get back into club management? That's the question. Anybody with any ambition has to be desperate to want to work under this setup, IMO.

Good spot. If it's the same guy, the owner of Best's agency was also Brereton's agent when this lot last spent big on a signing. No chance they spend £5m on this guy. Not that I want the player here anyway.

My first thought upon seeing that Preston looking kit was that somebody, somewhere, was deliberately trying to piss the fans off. I had the same thought when Coyle was appointed. Then again, it is possible that this lot simply failed to notice that the full kit resembled a PNE kit. One word to sum up everything about today, kit included. Embarrassing.

I think we're quite lucky to have Cantwell here and should be more grateful. The state we're in, we may not have another in the Cantwell mould for a while. As others have said, he is surrounded by dross, players who aren't on his wavelength and this is clearly resulting in massive frustration. You know what I loved about that game today? Seeing 'big', 'scary' Middlesbrough dumbfounded and being unable to cope with Blackburn Rovers. They had no idea what to do. A superb performance today where we made Boro look very ordinary. The fact they are currently in 2nd place shows what a huge opportunity we have missed this season and all due to people with no footballing knowledge deciding they want to 'transition' and cut costs. Go and f#*k off and transition somewhere else. Professional football certainly isn't for you. Never mind the play offs, automatic promotion was there for the taking this year. A smidgeon of ambition from that shower would have seen us right in the mix. They aren't winners in any way though. Those who defend these people and use the 70s and 80s as some sort of cover for their own egos are exactly the same. Just imagine where our club would be under normal owners and a normal Board. I was impressed with how we hassled and harried Boro for the majority of that game and with how dangerous we looked on the break. That was more akin to a Premier League showing from us. We just lacked that bite needed in the final third. There were so many counter attacks where we took too long to play the final ball. Despite that, it was fantastic seeing Boro being swamped and they could have had no complaints had we come away with the win. I don't think they'll see a better away performance at the Riverside all season. Big performances from Tronstad, Miller and Pratt in particular today. Baradji is a tank and there's hopefully a lot more to come from him. I think we are a lot better than the League table suggests and I expect things to pick up soon. Just like Ismael keeps saying. He and the team are giving it everything in difficult circumstances. Fair play to the young lads who are stepping in admirably and doing a decent job. Pasha out. Venky's out.

I think we'll have too much for Pompey tomorrow. We look a different team altogether on the road. Baradji is just getting into his stride and if he's paired with Tronstad, I can see us dominating the midfield. Even if he's on the bench, Tronstad and TGH are a good enough pair for tomorrow afternoon. Morishita, Cantwell, Ohashi. There's plenty for Pompey to worry about, I'd say. There's talk about their vociferous crowd from some of the fans and from Val too. They do have good support, true. Their team isn't much cop though. He is a proper manager, but just like those before him, he has realised this isn't a proper setup. I agree with the bolded. He absolutely should be insisting on both. It should never be an either/or situation at our level and especially not with so called billionaire owners. The fact he has made such a suggestion is, IMO, quite likely due to the "woe is us, we can't spend, we need to cut costs" kind of vibe around the place. What are the chances that Ismael has been hearing a lot of that lately i.e we've got limited funds, player x, y and z are too expensive to sign, we need to cut the wage bill, yada yada. That lot crying about funds. It would be easy to conclude in that scenario that we can't do both, hence the suggestion he has put forward. It feels like a desperate suggestion from someone who wants the situation resolving quickly, rather than a Mowbray type thing. That's just my view though. It would not happen at any normal club.

His offer to remedy the pitch immediately even if it takes something off the January budget are the words of a man desperate to fix the situation. He is showing more urgency and desire to resolve this than any of the hierarchy are doing. He doesn't want the fans, the players and staff to lose out because of the incompetence and lack of knowhow of bastards like the shadow man. A common theme around this club is the notion "that's too expensive, we can't do that". All he has done is offered a begrudging compromise. I.e take it out of the January budget if you have to, but fix this now! I do not think this is some sort of ploy where he is distancing himself from blame and giving his superiors an easy get out.

Ismael is no yes man, his track record should tell us that. I think he has been misunderstood by a few. He has had this 'transition' put upon him in the summer by somebody who knows nothing about the game and who is only interested in saving money. Gestede, Sufi, Talbot, Ismael, they are all taking the flak because of the decisions of one tosser. These people mentioned are not the problem, IMO. IMO, Ismael has gone along with the transition and the project because he believes the end goal at some stage down the line is the Premier League. It looks like the drainage specialist is the new angle. A "wee gem" is that one. I can imagine the opposition kicking up a huge fuss were this to happen again and they were winning at the time. I'm all for it. I want more of this because I want the spotlight on these people.
