[Archived] Rovers 0 - 1 Arsenal

a little bit of overreaction to Arsenals team. Yes they were and are not the first 11 but please that team is worth the best part of £150 million in todays prices. Viera £35m Reyes £24m Cole £20m Clichy £10m Toure £14m V Persie £15m Flamini £10m Senderos £13m Fabregas £12-18m I thought Rovers were the better passing side in the first half but one thing is clearly obvious, when we are in the ascendancy we need 2 that is 2 players up front. The goal was pure class, no complaints about that and please dont blame NEJ, he miskicked his first touch, he was NOT to blame for that goal. In the second half Arsenals young guns could have put us to the sword, they didnt, we had some luck and could have even snatched a point if both Emerton and Reid had a wee bit more accuracy about their shots. It doesnt bode too well for the semi final in the knoweldge that Bergkamp,Henry,Pires,Campbell,Lyungberg,Cygan have all to return from injury. The surface at the MS is NOT the best although it will have probably recovered some by April 16th. A few pointers from todays game. the ref was extremely poor, his linesmen were indecisive and his decisions some of the time were a complete nonsense. Dickov needs to learn to shut his gob, he needs to learn the offside rule and basically for a professional to keep getting yellows for what he does is nothing short of scandlous. Thompson's passing was indifferent, his game was off and he should have given way earlier on instead of Flitty, who I thought was Rovers best player in the first half. MGP needs to support the middle man more often simply as he is so good in the air. Mokoena is NOT a defensive partner for Nelsen, he gives too much away. Great in midfield and leave him there. For me the midfield should be this (from the left) MGP TUGAY SAVAGE EMERTON =====MOKOENA/FLITCROFT===== It provides defensive cover, it allows a central or wide player time to break forward and it provides a second wall for the back 4. Something needs to be done to counter the next threat on the horizon that is manure. They play high tempo stuff from the flanks and the middle. The game is simply a 90 minute exercise in keeping the goals against column intact. -
ticket news tomorrow at the game looks like they go on sale Friday and I am sure that after listening to JW there will be queues, there will be a hotline and there will be a postal vote. Now then DONT all rush at once and please Board.... can we shoot the first whinger re ticket sales ?

on a personal basis its a load of tripe. I blame my wife for having been born on 14th April and its clearly her fault that I am having to arrange a surprise 40th birthday party for her Otherwise I would probably have been enjoying a scoop or ten with Den and the rest of the blue army on Friday night. So, a bit of afdvice for anyone considering marriage. Ensure your good ladies birthday is outside the dates of the football season, ditto with anniversary and holdiays ! Looks like an early start in Cardiff

might be more neurological

As i suggested earlier paul, the easiest route to take is to park in a place called CALDICOT. There is a train that leaves there at 0930 and arrives in Cardiff around 10ish, costs 11 English pounds retunr and provides an easy route into the City. Car parking will be at a premium and like you say shoppers will be flooding the city for the usual saturday morning spree. its all very sad but driving then train appears tobe the suitable option UNLESS of course the CLUB can get there hands on a football special ! Now then, does anyone remember such good times on the good old choo choo ? carlisle anyone ?

The only decent way is from Manchester 0500hrs to birmingham and then 0830 to cardiff arriving at around 1032am

I see Rovers little run coming to an end. I know they probably wont have terry 'enry in the side and Rovers will jsut have to put up with the speed of reyes, the diving of pires and the brattish attitude of one bergkamp. Not to mention the tackling of fabregas and vierra makes you shiver thinking about it -
its an absolute disgrace, the FA in the infinite wisdom have shafted the fans of all clubs big style. Why can the Rovers game not kick off at 2pm ? 1215 does give massive travel problems. from lancs it means a 4am set off just to ensure that you reach cardiff by around 1000 as there is no way you will get parking anywhere near the ground. They have shone themselves to be incompetent, useless, irritating and selfish. they have given the fans of both Arsenal and BRFC no consideration at all, let alone making the Geordies travel down on a Sunday morning with a furhter 200 miles than most of us. I have emailed the FA outling my disgust, I have emailed the ch con of the welosh dibble again outlining my disgust cause if we are to believe the FA its their decision. Truth will out somewhere.

Just to cap it off, on the Friday evening the M6 Southbound is due to be closed for 7 hours from 2200 junctions 29 - 23. This is another pointer in the match scenario re time/date etc.

I dont think ANY Rovers supporter can be annoyed about the result and the point gained. remember a few weeks ago we were looking at where we might pick up points and certainly Everton and Liverpool didnt figure much and now we have taken 4 points. The performance can be excused although I was totally impressed with the defensive display. The point gained was a worthy point irrespective of what ANY media pundit says. We were organised, we fought for each other and the togetherness shown from each and every one of thos eplayers was clearly evident. You could see what it meant as the players walked off. MGP is allowed to have an off day. He didnt pass well, his shooting was awful as was his crossing. Lets hope that come Saturday he is back on song. I dont think the Arse will relish coming to Ewood for a kicking. I can see a few booking and sendings off come Saturday lunchtime especially if the frogs and other foreigners take a bad reaction to Rovers well drilled discipline. I am looking forward to Saturday. Well done Rovers - a point well and truly earned -
You dont have to drive anywhere near Cardiff to avoid congestion. drive to Caldicott and get the train in. it cost £5.50 and takes 30 minutes, a train every 25 minutes

Jordan was at behind me in the Blackburn End on Saturday. Is that any help ?
-
UNLESS they play when they are told to play ! the TV Companies with the FA will decide WHICH games they show and in WHICH order. You can look back through history when teams have had successfult cup runs and inherited fixture congestion that has resuklted in them playing mon wed and sat. On this occasion Newcastle will have no say in it whatsoever should the tv company showing their match decide it is going to be Saturday. This is the FA Cup, the FA will not bow to the fact that one of the teams has a midweek game
-
just for the record and exclusive to this board only sky and bbc have NOT decided on which games they are showing on their respective channels. The FA/Sky and BBC are in negotiation due to the fact that manure have some rights to their Asian tv coverage. However at this time it very much looks like Rovers will play on Saturday evening. It seems that man ure DO have a lot of influence where tv coverage is concerned.

We knew we were gonna draw a big gun before todays draw. I am not bothered although glad I suppose to avoid the real red scum. The only thing that irks me with the draw is the fact that Trevor was the only one drawing the balls. IMO this does not make it a fair draw for the fans. They should have had two persons making that draw, okay, granted there are only 4 balls to pull but it would take away the suspicion of a fixed draw ! Anyhow anyone sacrifice 3 points on Saturday for a place in the FA Cup final ?
-
not necessarily are they not playing their second leg on Wednesday this time ?
-
the odds are wrong Rovers lying at 12/1 now
-
sky have set it up now aint they with winterburns ranting about a final versus manure ! Rovers should play that tape before the game on Saturday to wind the players up. The Axe should fell reyes and lyungberg. todd should goat bergkamp dickov should be able to wind toure up and emo must have a go at cole/clichy set up nicely aint it oh yes and flitty to knock viera out !! not too much to ask
-
Yes pal her indoors 40th, delays the travel to Cardiff by about 5 hours. She dont know about it and when the party is over I will just have to break it gently that the bus leaves leyland at around 0200 hrs, just enough time for a curry at the Viceroy !! Your welcome to go with beswick if you like

please peeps, just woke up after nights and I read on this thread that some readers/members think that de vries is a good player ! FFS he is the biggest donkey to ever set foot on Ewood's lush green turf. For someone who is 6ft plus, large build allegedly got a bit of pace about him and you have Leicesters new image of heskey. The man was and is a useless pile of poo, all he relied on was fouling the defenders. please dont make me laugh so much in the morning, it hurts -

Back in Sunshine laden Leyland with a grin the Cheshire pussy would be proud of. No pointing beating around the bush. It was a poor spectacal. Leicester came for the money not for the result, to piut all 11 men behind the ball showed their intentions from the off. Rovers found it difficult to break down and had all of the possession without any product. Who cares, the game is gone. Rovers won courtesy of a penalty. We are off to Cardiff. We await with trepidation our next opponents. Please God, if your reading, then Newcastle would do (or Spuds). Please pair those whingeing whining nobsters rfw and arsen whinger together so that they can deflect any build up to the semis with their protracted bickering through the media. If Rovers can draw either NUFC or Spurs then great. a semi facing Shearer and Judas ? Now thats a mouthwatering prospect. Our goal laden hero and faceless manager against the club where they had the greatest success in their current roles. bring it on
