  1. Also, another thing to consider when you compare their scoring records is the fact that Dickov took penalties for us. Now I'm not saying that makes a huge difference but it is worth taking into consideration. They were both good signings and we would be in the championship had either of the not come at the time that they did. The difference is that when we signed Cole I think we had one of the best strikers in the league, when we signed Dickov we had one of the hardest workers.
  2. Rooney making perfect recovery says England doctor
  3. It's nice when it happens.
  4. I would disagree with that. If anything there is more pressure at Arsenal. There he is the leader and the star and expected to produce the goods or else the team fails, at Barcelona he could easily not perform at his best and the team would still do well.
  5. Of course they do, they would be silly if they didn't. That isn't to say that it they are pinning their hopes on him not being fit, but just as we would be pleased if France didn't have Henry or Brazil didn't have Ronaldinho they will be pleased if we do not have Rooney.
  6. I think you're being overly harsh there on Arsenal's tactics. If that is true then I have to say Barcelona's lack of a a cutting edge up until the 75th minute was quite shocking, while their inability to handle the Arsenal attacks also quite poor.
  7. If you think AC Milan, Juventus or whoever else might not be interested because when he was there as a young man he didn't score goals is simply ridiculous. He's gone on to prove that he is one of the best strikers and players in the world, he could score goals anywhere and everyone will know that.
  8. To say he failed in Italy is ridiculous. He was a very young man and not the footballer he is today, as for Barcelona not being interested in him, that is pure rubbish.
  9. That is fine, but would they really have done that in the Champions League final?
  10. 71% to Barcelona actually and as for not trying to win the game they played a very good game for being down to 10 men for such a long period of time and actually had better chances to score than Barcelona did up until the 75th minute. I'm not an Arsenal fan, never have been, so it isn't as if you are discussing this with horribly biased people. Would Barcelona have also gone more defensive had they been down to 10 men? Yes, of course, no team goes down to 10 men and continues to play in exactly the same style, that is called stupidity. The calls didn't go both ways, apart from the free kick that Arsenal scored from I doubt you can show me any decision that went there way. I could name countless bookings that should have been for Barcelona players which could well have changed the way in which they were able to defend.
  11. Show me a good loser in football. The officials didn't do a good job and it is difficult to take a defeat when you feel as if things might have been different had there been some different decisions made.
  12. I'm happy as I think it is nice to see a bit of loyalty in football and also great to have such a talented player in the Premiership. It is also nice as I don't like Barcelona very much and it is good that they won't have him there to strengthen their side.
  13. I think you'll be surprised. There is a reason he is in that squad and it is because of what he achieved while in France and even what he did while at Rangers. I'm not a France supporter so I'll enjoy it if he makes some mistake that sees them knocked out, but I do rate him as a defender and I'll be interested to see if he plays the way that he can and goes some way to restoring a reputation that he has destroyed amazingly quickly at Newcastle. Having said that, there are some very good players at Newcastle and I would say that only Given and Owen are left with their reputations intact after last season.
  14. I'm not sure who it was but a Barca player made a horrible attempt at a dive just outside the Arsenal box which was ignored by the ref and still the player wasn't booked. It was laughable how few bookings were shown to Barcelona and how many were shown to Arsenal, in particular the booking of Henry when he simply kicked the ball.
  15. If Boumsong plays I have no doubt you will all see why he is so highly rated it France. As for the entire squad there are several players I would not have included there, for example cisse. I would have gone with Barthez as well, he works well with the French defence and has the needed experience. Giuly and Anelka would have made it for me, but overall it is a pretty decent squad and I think quite a few of the French based players will make a name for themselves in Germany.
  16. I don't agree with that. I think because of the fact that he did not stop the goal and because it is not 100% clear as to whether or not he took the player down on purpose or in an attempt to get the ball that he could easily have allowed and issued a warning or a booking.
  17. Well then under the rule of law he was in no position to allow the goal and send the player off as he blew the whistle.
  18. It would be stupid to drop Beckham. He has been in great form for Real Madrid this year and has also performed well for England in recent games. He seems to be a good captain and also what he can provide from dead ball situations makes him very valuable.
  19. I'll do the France games if no one else would like them.
  20. He could have done that but that would have been plain stupid in my opinion. Personally I would have booked him and allowed the goal to stand, which for the sake of the game is what I wish had happened. What would the result have been had it been 11 v 11, no one can know. The one thing I will say is that Arsenal were the better team up until the sending off and were the better team up until around the 75th minute.
  21. If you don't care then don't post. I wasn't expecting you to be upset by the fact that I don't agree with you I was simply saying that we have differing opinions on the matter, a comeback like that is utterly pointless.
  22. Once again we disagree pleasure, I believe your dislike for Wenger is unfounded. He has always come across to me as a very nice and well spoken man and also an extremely talented manager. He may suffer from the big team syndrome from time to time, but they all do. He didn't seem to be that bitter to me, he didn't say anything that we wouldn't have had the game gone the same way as that for Blackburn. Henry was a little surprising, but I think Arsenal fans should be pleased as I think last night, despite the defeat, made it less likely that he will be heading to Barcelona.
  23. I don't disagree that it was a sending off, though he could have played advantage and not ruined the game. Arsenal were the better side.
  24. Feel sorry for Arsenal. Gae was ruined slightly by the sending off and have had several good chances and could have put the game beyond doubt had they put one of them away.
  25. People have been saying that for decades and it just isn't happening.
