Tony Mowbray new manager for Birmingham...

That's about 180 miles (3+hours'  journey time) back to his missus' lemon drizzle cake.  Twice the journey from Ewood / Brockhall.

Has Mrs Mowbray lost her touch in the kitchen or was 'being so far away from home' just more Mowbray  bullsh1t!?

No I wouldn't be signing a keeper in this window. When Pears is fit I would put back into the team and I'm fine with that for rest of the season and next.

I would be focusing on signing players we need. For example a striker who can finish the chances we created.

We need a goalie as neither Pears nor Leo are up to it.

On average, I reckon our two goalies have averaged a mistake per game leading to a goal meaning you need to find a striker capable of netting at least a goal per game in order to 'stand still'!  Mission impossible!

If it was up to me, I'd be trying to offload Leo (there was competition for his signature when we signed him), accepting it wasn't working out for either party and use whatever we got to sign another goalie.  If that enabled us to sign Beadle permananently then surely we would be no worse off?!

Isn't there a rule you can only have 2 players on loan from 1 club ?

Think you are right, however, pretty sure Rovers have been having discussions with many clubs about many players and Beadle may well have been a conversation before Ayari was agreed if indeed it was a loan deal they were seeking.

  4. Great to be in the hat for the next round.

Sadly, we are Sammie Rovers at the moment and goodness knows where we would be without him.

Is there any official news on Sammie's injury - is it a groin or a hammy (heard it's a hammy issue)?  Poor game management by JDT - Sammie should have been off after 65 minutes (at the latest)  when we went 4-2 up.

Today's win just masks all the problems we have as a football team and I expect 'normal business' to be resumed next Saturday with a resounding defeat at The Hawthorns.

Szmodics just signed a new contract here, made vice captain and happy here

I have question the hierarchy here but JDT has told the fans the situation and I have no reason not to trust his word

    So?

If one of the likes of Ipswich, Leicester, Luton, Brentford, Palace etc come in with an acceptable offer to Rovers then little Sammie's leg wont touch the ground as he races off to bank his little fortune!

You have been around long enough Chaddy to realise loyalty in football in the main is to the bank account!

I think we all know we're in financial distress, which is no fault of anyone but our owners & is why I don't understand why folk are throwing pelters at JDT & GB for what's happened today.

Anyway, forgive me if this has been covered as I've not been on here for a long time until today, or if I am mis-remembering, but during the summer window weren't you one of those offering reassurances about good news being around the corner? What happened to that?

As Harold Macmillan said "Events, dear boy, events".

  7. A sad, sad day in the history of Blackburn Rovers.

To lose a relatively experienced captain on loan to 2nd in the Championship and then bring in two young lads (Ayari and Chrisene) who have it all to prove, and it is doubtful even Chaddy has heard of them, tells you all you need to know about the state of our football club.

Seems we are also struggling to agree a financial deal with Crewe for O'Riordan.

The sirens are screaming and anyone who does not think we are in a financial mess needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

By 1 February, I think the hatches will need firmly battening down at Ewood and Brockhall as I think there is worse to come on the transfer front.

Ayari cost Brighton more than £5m when signed in january last year. Must have something. Also got alot of caps on international level both for U21 and national team.

Ashley Ward, Christian Dailly, Nathan Blake, Mauro Formica, Corrado Grabbi, to name but a few, were all 'big' fees and we thought they 'must have something'!!!

I have no expectation of this lad based on what the Coventry fans have to say about him.  Robbins is no fool and I'm sure Coventry would have wanted to keep him if there was a player there for the Championship.

Think we'll do more business and try and push upwards in the table.

If not then Ayari for Travis doesn't make much sense to me. We're inn freefall form-wise at the moment so would think JDT wanted to keep his experienced captain until the summer.

I think it's by no means certain Sammie will be with us come 1 Feb.

What a signing he would be for  a Championship club with real ambition to reach the PL.

His fee and wages would be a pittance relative to the PL riches.

After today's absolute debacle, nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, could be ruled out this window and it would no longer be surprising.

Any money left over from the summer sales is now ancient history.

We'll only be able spend if we sell in this window... I mean, you'd hope that's the case at least.

    First point correct.

As for second point, I would suggest we will only be able to use a portion of any transfer fees realised this window.

Given the club's overall cash flow position and uncertainty over future funding from India, it would be no surprise if there were not targets in place for January's window re achievement of a net surplus on transfer fee trading and also further wage reductions.

We might not yet be in danger of the 'lights being switched off' but I think some of the optimism on this MB about things easing to allow new signings is misplaced..

We will know by 31 Jan. but I ain't holding my breath about good news.

JDT brought in 2 of his staff with him. He was happy with those 3 staff as he publicly when he got the job. Also I think if JDT wanted to change them now he would have done. JDT sees them at work all the time. We dont

Rosen is good bit fatigue is down to lack of options to rotate players in 3 games week.

JDT was hardly going to publicly express his dissatisfaction with the three was he?  I fear if he has wanted to changed them, he hasn't been allowed.  JDT does not have 'carte blanche' as evidenced in various press conferences - his frustrations are plain to see.

Think you've been brain washed by Mowbray who was always banging on about 3 games per week.  3 games per week are almost as rare as rocking horse sh1t.  The usual pattern is a midweek game (either Tuesday or Wednesday) followed by a Saturday game - that is 2 games per week.  Very, occasionally we will play 3 games in a 7 day cycle ie Christmas and should a game be moved to Sunday for TV where we would then go Sunday/Wednesday/Saturday - this has only happened twice this season (once in October and at Christmas) and is not scheluded to happen again in the 2nd half of the season.

On hopeless keepers, Jason Steele at Ewood but watch him last night.

Just hope we don't have to wait ten years for Leo to come good...

He looked a basket case here - a remarkable transformation and you have to ask how?  When he came here, think he had some 200 games under his belt so certainly not an inexperienced young 'rookie' (older than Leo and Pears when he joined us).

Clearly JDT is happy with coaching staff otherwise they wouldn't be here. He is happy with each one of them. He was also happy to work with them.

I think it's clear JDT had to accept Lowe, Johnson and Benson and had no other option if he wanted the job.  That is not being happy with them!

It's also strongly rumoured we 'lost' two other managerial candidates (if I recall correctly Carvalhal was one but the other name escapes me - sure folk on this MB can recall) before JDT's appointment as they would not be allowed to bring in their own people and had to accept Lowe, Johnson and Benson.

JDT effectively brought in one coach (Remy)  and also Rosen as fitness guru - based on number of injuries, recovery times and reported fatigue, not sure just how good or poor Rosen is.

John Achterberg is in charge of Liverpool keeping department

Plus we aren't Liverpool size of club either or in the premiership

You are right about Achterberg, however, I didn't say Taffarel was in charge!

Think you'll find Achterberg has hundreds of games to his credit as a professional goalkeeper whilst Taffarel's pedigree speaks for itself and he is still Brazil's national goalkeeping coach.

No we aren't a club of Liverpool's size or in the PL yet we do have 3 goalkeeping coaches (Benson, Andrew and Renshaw).  The gulf in pedigree between Liverpool's goalie coaches and ours is as wide as it can be.  No we haven't the same financial resource as Liverpool but surely, surely we can find an experienced goalie coach out there who has played the game professionally and knows the game inside out (a Bobby Mimms type).  Without being disrespectful, I think Andrew and Renshaw have very limited playing experience (mainly non league) and therein lies the rub - you would not get a Bobby Mimms type coming to work under Benson!  You dumb down your goalie coach and therefore almost certainly have to dumb down those who work under him!

IMO, the coaching support (Lowe, Johnson and Benson) for JDT is very weak and underwhelming and I do not think I am the only Rovers' supporter who thinks so!  It is no good skimping on coaches when average / less than average players get paid £thousands per week - lose one of those costly Joe Average players and use part of those wage savings to employ some quality coaching staff.  It aint rocket science but just plain feckin commonsense.

I don't think Leos issues are anything to do with Ben Benson the player has only been here 2 mins and although has good reflexes he's always looked like a schoolboy flapping at crosses etc.

He doesn't know the Championship/British more physical football style and is clearly struggling to adapt and his nerves are probably shredded.

I think playing in front of bigger noisier crowds and raucous away support is a bit of a problem for him as well, he looked like he was visibly unnerved in front of those PNE and Leeds followings.

A good coach should inspire confidence in  players, make them believe they can 'walk on water' and develop their all round game including technical abilities.

If Leo's 'nerves are shredded' and he still looks like 'a schoolboy flapping at crosses' after 15 games or so on the spin then just what the feck is Benson doing!?

The same Ben Benson that was highly praise by Kaminski when he left. So maybe we know very little about the coaching he does on a daily coach.

The same Ben Benson who Raya, based on what I saw in pre match and half time routines, had little respect for and needed proper coaching to further his development, the same Ben Benson who has, seemingly, reduced Leo to a goalkeeping wreck and the same Ben Benson who, presumably, 'signed-off' on the acquistions of Walton, Pears and Leo - arguably, 3 of the worse goalies to don the Rovers' number one shirt.  Whatever coaching he does on a daily basis has certainly not helped Leo!!!

Liverpool have Taffarel, a Brazilian World Cup winning goalie, on their goalkeeping staff whilst we have Benson from Carlisle's Community Department who has never played professional football.  Tell me, if you were a goalie, which of Taffarel or Benson would you most respect, most likely listen to and most likely learn from !?  It aint rocket science.

Wake up and smell the coffee Chaddy.

Benson should be focusing on working with keepers, improving them and sorting out their weaknesses

    Sheron is just a suggestion.

When will the penny drop about Benson?

He has no professional football experience as a player.  He has not lived or breathed the work of a goalie.  He has nothing in the memory bank about the trials and tribulations of a goalie.  Just how on earth can you coach a Championship goalie if you have not been through the ringer yourself?  As for being our set piece 'guru', it is the height of absurdity.

As for set pieces and defending, I find it incredulous that with 5 coaches (JDT, Remy, Lowe, Johnson and Benson) we struggle so much defensively both generally and specifically from set pieces whilst offensively, I see nothing imaginative with our set pieces.  Just what the feck do these 5 guys get paid for?  If there aren't up to scratch they shouldn't be here.

I would suggested defending properly, mark our opposition players better and putting the ball into the box would be better suggestion plus appoint Mike Sheron as set piece coach or someone

This is the second time you have advocated making Mike Sheron our set piece guru.

Just what makes you think he'd be any good in that role other than, IMO, no one could be any worse than the hapless Benson.

I would bring in Mike Sheron or Ryan Kidd to take over in charge of set pieces. Benson doing it isn't working and his focus should be improving and working with Wahlstedt improving his catching and taking charge of his box

Benson's only focus should be on trying to find a new job when he's sacked and that should be tomorrow along with Lowe and Johnson.

Not convinced by JDT but when you haven't a pot to p1ss in and when you are surrounded by, IMO, muppets and incompetents like Broughton, Benson, Lowe, Johnson, our recruitment and medical teams, I'm prepared to cut him some slack.  Sack JDT and replace him with whom other than a desperado when they will face exactly the same issues.

Our club is in one feckin mess and, IMO, this is down entirely to the gross mismanagement by our owners and their dumbing down of staff from top to bottom in our club.
