  1. "and could revisit the European market once again with a French ‘keeper among those to have been tracked at this stage". Posted about this two or three days ago (and named him) and some dismissed as nonsense / random etc.................!!!
  2. Well, this transfer thread is already 91 pages long. It's going to be a long old summer and sadly, I think we'll be feeding off crumbs falling from someone's table. It's galling, frustrating and sad, however, at least the sun's breaking through and it's a glorious day tomorrow so I'm off for a pint or two, followed by a wine or two and a bite to eat.
  3. The lad is almost 23 and I think it's clearly time for Rovers to either sh1t or get off the pot where Wharton is concerned. For me, he isn't a Championship player.
  4. I think it's clear the lad isn't going to break through at City. At 22 and after two seasons' loans at WBA and Rovers, the lad's agent needs to do him a favour and find him a permanent deal somewhere.
  5. I don't think we have a pot to p1ss in. Think this is the new world, realise £10million / season, slash wages and sign frees and loans.
  6. The lad, IMO, will never been a top 6 PL player - at his age, he would have broken through by now. Let's face it, City aren't great defensively. If a club has the money, I think City will let himgo.
  7. Nonsense. I think Travis is light years away from Rice in ability terms.
  8. Don't think Mowbray will see any of the first £10million raised from player sales and I think he will be only allowed to reinvest 50% of anything over £10million.
  9. Burnley's finances based upon their last filed accounts are in pretty good order.
  10. Not previously heard of him but then again hadn't heard of Nzonzi.
  11. Someone on here posted Rovers wanted Connor Ripley. Understand, we've been watching a French lad (which will delight @chaddyrovers ) - Michel at Auxerre; if correct, think he'd be coming as our number 1.
  12. Perhaps Tony doesn't understand the simple statement that may well be 'you have no money to spend - we need savings of at least £15million through fees in and wage savings'.
  13. IMO, should read at least one....................! If there are sell ons for likes of Raya and King, I think there's a very good chance that money would be winging its way back to Pune to offset what's been, IMO, spunked up the wall on Brereton and Gallagher.
  14. Been posting that for the last few days - the only thing that makes sense to me.
  15. I think he has improved - from what I've seen, a more mature, rounded and confident performer. Surprising what good coaching and management does for you! Think the Arsenal link is because of the goalie coach who went from Brentford to Arsenal.
  16. So would I! The point I'm making is that, IMO, it makes little sense to buy Whiteman, given obvious other priorities, unless Mowbray knows Travis has to be sold. If this is the case, and given we would need to pay a fee for Whiteman (between £1million and £1.5million muted), it would suggest Mowbray would be allowed to utilise part of any transfer fees received. If Mowbray does have a budget and he doesn't need to sell, I'm buggered if I know why he wants another midfielder!
  17. I said a net £2million or so, for example Travis sold for say £3.5million, Whiteman bought for say £1.5million. Illustrative numbers only.
  18. IMO, looking at cheaper replacements for players to be sold! Think there's a good chance Travis is off if we are looking at Whiteman - would net Rovers a couple of £million or so.
  19. So true. Passed Tony in the car a couple of times recently whilst he's been out walking - now walking with the aid of a stick and a carer (I assume). It's so very sad.
  20. Likely to be the result of the 'famed European scouting structure' @Chaddyrovers keeps banging the drum about. Might as well sack the lot and sit in an office at Ewood thumbing through the Argos catalogue of European footballers who are cheap and cheerful!
  21. We all see things differently. To me, Vale has that spark and in two years time will be at least two leagues higher than Butterworth.
