  1. Past hour
  2. Ewood Park is like the corner shop these days, develop decent players, and along come the poachers, buy one get one free. We need to hold on to our decent developed players, and build strength in depth in the squad.
  3. Unfortunately, he will want more than our self imposed wage cap, and he will get that elsewhere, with ease
  4. I agree, sell Pears, give Toth a pay rise.
  5. I disagree, Alebiosu gives his all in a Rovers shirt, there's room for improvement like you say with his passing.
  6. I'll take a win by any means at the moment.
  7. Apart from the dismal 1st half hour, there were signs we're beginning to play as a team.
  8. You missed a great fightback from Rovers in the 2nd half. Let's get it together after our 1st home win, and go on an unbeaten run.
  9. I've a feeling there's more to come from Gudjohnsen, now hes off the mark.
  10. I've not read any of the comments in this thread (will just assume everyone is being sensible and cordial). I just want to say sorry to VI. When you made those subs I thought you'd got it all wrong, I thought you didn't know what you were doing. I was wrong, they changed the game. Fair play.
  11. Bad news indeed but totally par for this lot of looters.
  12. If Kargbo had pace, ability, and application he would probably be a premier league player. At the moment he has only shown one of those qualities.
  13. How did Morishiti miss, he was 6 yards from goal with a clear shot at goal.
  14. It'll be any player that another club wants and is prepared to pay for. Anyone. Their value to the team is of no significance.
  15. We could always try to create an overload in the opposition box 😉
  16. We beat a team who have won 4 in 50, and who now have won less games than us this season. It's nice to get a win but we shouldn't be reduced to being thankful for scraping past the dross of the division. Even under Venky's we have, historically, been better than that.
  17. We should spend the next three months helping him get a move away from here. Would be best for all parties at this point. I would be curious to know what our scouts saw in him beyond pace, because I can't say I've seen any other worthwhile attribute that would justify paying money for.
  18. Could well be a blood clot.
  19. Your reasoning is sound, obviously with that pay cap we cannot and will not be paying a reserve (keeper or otherwise) £10K/week Which is why we will end up with a cheap foreign punt (once Toth goes elsewhere for double his current wage, as he will not be signing for longer on £10K/week) with Goddard/Michalski as backup. Pears will obviously need to be sold too, in case the cheap foreign punt is any good, so that he doesn't ask for a wage rise quite so soon
  20. For me this game showed that we do too much on the wings. We need players to be more central affecting the game and pulling oppo players inwards to give cover. We play wing backs so they need midfield cover when they bomb forward but they don't want wingers in front of them getting in their way. That just adds up to tippy tappy triangle play in the corner with the striker checking out his nail manicure waiting for the ball to arrive. Clearly I'm just an average joe from the crowd and not a badge carrying coach but that sounds sensible to me and was my observation yesterday. Trust the player on the ball and find your own space, stop crowding each other just in case shit happens. Creating an overload? Why? You come out with the ball at your feet ready to cross and there's no one there to take it. We don't have an Erling Haaland who can do it on his own, we need several players in there to make something happen. IMO. Anyhow, good 3 points, very welcome.
  21. For me the back up keeper situation is a bit of a special case. These guys typically never get on the pitch so if our top wage going forward is (say) £10k p.w. then Im a bit uncomfortable with the reserve keeper earning that not to play (or even more if he got a new deal before the wage cap was imposed). Id have said the same about Toth if Pears had never been dropped.
  22. If he is on circa £10K/week (give or take a grand or 2), then as mad as it sounds, he is probably being paid relative to his ability by Championship standards (ie squad player), however, at the same time that would mean that he is also being paid far more than he is worth when compared to his teammates, as we have the ridiculous £10K/wek self imposed pay cap
  23. Im aware of all that, do you think Pears is worth well in excess of £10k p.w. though?
  24. What a win. Looks like Hedges meant to do that? Footballing genius.
  25. I assumed the international duty was the most recent one. That does seem odd if it's the case as I think he was pictured wearing heavy strapping during one of the away games as well? That said I dont think it would be too much of a stretch to hazard a guess that he isn't particularly happy here judging by his reaction to his goal he scored.
