RibbleValleyRover Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 jimmy Bullard has apparently withdrawn from tomorrows game with a mystery illness...the cynic in me thinks that this could be something more if true I could see Sam being interested in Bullard, though as many people have pointed out would he pass a medical? Also any idea what sort of salary is he on? or wanted before the contract talks collapsed? I remember reading a few weeks ago that Bolton were considering a £6 million bid, i doubt we could afford that on one player.
Majiball Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I thought I'd read he was after around 50,000 a week for his new contract.

Lot of money what with his glass knee, in my view. Still...
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 His health insurance is supposedly incredibly high.
joey_big_nose Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I thought I'd read he was after around 50,000 a week for his new contract. I think we nearly paid that amount to Savage, and offered it to Bellamy and Bentley before their moves, an I imagine it is not a million miles away from what we are paying Cruz and McCarthy . You would probably have to say he is nearly on a par with them given his current form. However seeing as three of our main midfielders - Dunn, Grella and Reid - are all highly injury prone, what is the wisdom in signing him?

Pugg Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Just to show that I am a true football fan...fickle...watching David Bentley tonight is making me suffer from violent urges. When he gets fouled, the way he goes down is pathetic, dropping his shoulder like he has been punched in it mid-air. No wonder he was booked for diving even when he was actually fouled.
Mozzer Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 david bentley used to go down like that even when is was at blackburn-just you only notice how embarrasing it is when he dont play for your club-it was like damien duff-at chelsea he would go down so easy like he did at blackburn..

That's why I said the 'fickle' comment.

He did it for us as well.
Pugg Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 He does it for us as well. Erm, again, that is why I said the fickle comment. I obviously didn't make it as clear as I thought.
Pugg Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Sorry! Early night tonight. You were just too eager weren't ya?

I have no doubt we could afford him and I wanted him in the summer, but six months of injuries later I'm not so sure. Is he not around the 30 mark as well, he'll end up staying at Fulham.
Majiball Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Zoran Tosic & Adem Ljajić Have just signed for Man Utd Two very good signings. £16.3m for those two. And £32m for Tevez soon!! No Credit Crunch at United then!
John Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear has confirmed that he is attempting to sign Barry Ferguson from Rangers.
alexanders Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Hartlepool - Stoke 0-2 as we speak. The first FA surprise is a fact.
Majiball Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Gooners in melt-down Theo available for 1M tap him up Sam.
Billy Castell Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I'd sign Van Piersie myself. Then he won't score against us all the time!
thenodrog Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Gooners in melt-down Seems under the forthcoming financial crisis that the Arsenal board are determined to run a viable business rather than a wealthy benefactors plaything which will be smashed to smithereens when eventually discarded. Credit to them cos now is a time for prudence.
John Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Newcastle could face competition from several Premier League rivals for Rangers' Barry Ferguson, skysports.com understands.

Dunno if they have any decent players that would interest us but after their early exit from the Champions league Rangers really must be financially weak and easy prey. I don't want Ferguson but after the scam they pulled on us I'd love us to stiff em!

I don't want Ferguson but after the scam they pulled on us I'd love us to stiff em! Nicko is often kind enough to answer my Rangers questions on PM, according to him finances are dire at Ibrox. Barry will likely go for cheaper than we all expect if he does. Bougherra is a good defender but overpriced at the reported £6m. Anyone of Boyd, Novo, McGregor and in particular Mendes would be good signings for Rovers. There are others that would improve the squad.
