[Archived] Foreign Fans Subscription/club

On the back of criticism from Damage and Thenodrog, as well as comments that I have seen appear every few months on here, I was wondering if foreign fans actually would have some interest in having some sort of subscription that they would pay to Rovers? Obviously this is something that we can't arrange ourselves, but on the back of the great work done for the children's season-tickets it shows that with a bit of effort maybe something could be done. I would do it, but I have to admit only for something in return. If there was the option a rovers world subscription, discount on x amount of tickets and some sort of priority for high profile games I think it could actually be a scheme that would benefit both sides. Anyway, just thought I would see if there was any interest and if anyone had any ideas on how it could be improved and then if it seems like something that would work we could suggest it to the club.

Feel free to delete this if it is not a popular idea.

Thats a NO eddie btw.

My guess is that you'll have to get used to that response. I take Philips point about the players remuneration but that unfortunately is down to the laws of supply and demand. imo so many people know the price of everything yet the value of nothing.

Rovers World, trips across the north sea, a drawer full of Rovers shirts. £30 a month to watch them on TV twice a month if I'm lucky.

I don't think I owe them anything. It's not my privilege to be a Rovers fan (if you understand what I'm saying). In fact it's Rovers privilege to have me as a fan.

Well done Tchocky. You are a proper fan!........... and incidentally putting others on this thread to shame. :tu:

I freely gave of my money in the pre-Jack Walker, pre-Premier League era despite living a considerable distance from Ewood.

But come on, Rovers are hardly at penury's gate. The players are not living on scraps.

I'm not talking about giving the club money because of financial troubles, I'm simply saying that maybe it is something that could benefit us all. Let's say you created a scheme whereby you could pay either 5, 10 or 15 pounds a month. In return for that you'd gt a rovers world subscription, then a 15-25% discount on a certain number of games (which would vary depending on which band you had signed up for) and then the chance to buy tickets early for games like season-ticket holders have. This money could even be used for a specific cause, such as the season-tickets for children that was started up this year. It's a sort of foreign persons season ticket. I'm not willing to hand over money to the club for nothing, as you quite rightly point out they don't need and the players certainly don't, but that isn't what I'm suggesting.

So let me get this right, you aren't happy when the foreign fans say that they already do and spend enough, but then when something is put forward that is actually sort of what you ask for, you then decide that is stupid and what we do now is the proper stance?

QFT.

Also add; the 2am starts for Saturday 3pm game when daylight savings finishes in the UK, the 4:30am starts for mid week games during the start of the season.

I'd love to be able to go to games every week, but unless I inherit the money from some rich long-lost Uncle, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

BTW thenodrog, as I suggested to Damage in the other thread, if you've got the money to pay for me to have one season following Rovers home and away I'll gladly take the cash.

Actually better yet, why don't us foreigners get our money together and build a mosque next to your house, just for giggles

I'm sick of this! Some people just have to drag the disastrous muslim issue in Blackburn into every debate on here don't they?

Dave Birch sums you up perfectly in the Rovers sold thread.

Was there any need for that comment?

Plenty of people share my opinion of you around these parts Philip I can assure you. You have been mentioned in despatches. Your supercillious and conceited persona is hardly your best kept secret is it? However unlike you I don't feel a frequent need to intervene and stir the pot at every available opportunity in the hope of drawing out a damning response. No doubt you'll be PMing some mod /admin as soon as you read this in a state of mock outrage, but I rather think that there is no one willing to act as your personal marrionette any more.

btw Big loss for your devisive board politicking that. ^_^

I've heard of club memberships and the like, but never knew what exactly what was involved with that membership. I'd be interested depending upon what exactly is entailed.

I already subscribe to RoversWorld and get a load of good stuff from that, but what would a club membership be about?
