Torgeir Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Ferguson was among our best players after getting a few games under his belt. His problem was that he got homesick. His skills as a footballer were more then good enough to be a regular at our team. He was okay but didn't stay long enough to prove himself. He certainly never justified his price-tag, and we lost a lot of money because of his disloyalty. You're right about the homesick part - how on earth he managed that is beyond me...so called professional.

BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Didn't hold out much hope for Huddlestone. Hopefully we will get Koumas. News from McDingle farm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ley/7217661.stm
modes98 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 If Benni and MGP can finish the season on fire then we will make the top 6. There are a lot of ifs and buts in your start there. You are relying on players who have known injury concerns to make it through and players who have a history of not making it through a season, doing just that and maintaining form. I seriously doubt that they have the confidence in themselves anymore. Granted they are top class players but MGP has had 12 months where he has been nothing short of a passenger in the Bentley show. Benni i just don't know about, he doesn't seem set for a move but Hughes doesn't want to play him, if Hughes won't play him then he won't do anything. Roberts/Derbs are never going to hit the same levels as Benni which leaves us with a problem especially looking at The prem strike partnership goals % list
tchocky Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Like I said jobsworth, maybe I missed it when I looked. Would it not have been quicker to answer the question than be an arsehole? Rather than ask here and waste everybodys time by making them read the same things over, you could have found the answer with a quick search either here or on Google in less time than it takes to pose the question.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 News from McDingle farm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ley/7217661.stm I thought you said 'news.'
philipl Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Porque Burnley? Burnley pigs for the McDingle farm?
robborover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 No, we haven't gained Reid. Given that he only played 3 games last season, then yes we have got another CM. Most people worried about our midfield due to mokoena not being to pass forward, Dunn being a sicknote for the best part of 5 years and Reid being injured. Savage was unreliable and Tugay is only getting older. Dunn, Tugay, Mokoena and Reid can do a job. Our biggest problem is MGP's invisibility and Benni's bad form. Don't forget our team has got us to 8th and 4 points off 4th!
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 McCoyley's quote I had not read before. Pointing to all the signs of not happening. Do thye still want Whelan? He's been linked with Wanky Wanderers.
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 McCoyley's quote I had not read before. I BELIEVE THE CHAP IS A SUNDAY PEOPLE READER NOW TOO... Pointing to all the signs of not happening. WELL, I'LL TAKE YOUR WORD FOR THAT... Do thye still want Whelan? He's been linked with Wanky Wanderers. IT'S STILL ON THE RADAR...BUT THEY HAVE A BETTER ONE AHEAD OF HIM IN THE QUEUE RIGHT NOW.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 I was under the impression that Ramos really liked Prince Boateng and actually attempted to get him for Sevilla? So selling him seems a bit strange. He may well have flattered to deceive so far but he'd definitely be a good addition for us. Now just the matter of rustling up the 4-5 million which it would probably take to get him and other quality players.
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 They still getting one today? I'm still confident of beating them. Since I said 1-0 to them, I think we'll get two.
modes98 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Dunn, Tugay, Mokoena and Reid can do a job. Our biggest problem is MGP's invisibility and Benni's bad form. Don't forget our team has got us to 8th and 4 points off 4th! That's no that strong when you look at other teams in and around us. As long as Reid and Dunn stay fit and keep up the current good form we will be ok, but it is unlikely they will and the other 2 just aren't up to the job. We are 8th but we could, i stress could as pompey and west ham have difficult games in hand, be 10th. Signing 1 quality midfielder really could be the difference between Europe and no Europe. Mind you we didn't make the most of Europe this season anyway.
Wolverine Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 True, Modes, but would Roque have signed if we hadn't been in Europe?
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Says here we were interested in signing the Macedonian; http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...own/7217884.stm

I think the problem is that there isn't a quality midfielder going in our price range.
philipl Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 An interesting league table of accuracy of paper rumours here. The Mirror, People and News of the World get mentioned but you've got to click on the continuations to find them! Your colleagues are obviously not holding their end up Nicko
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Most are saying Koumas wouldn't be a great signing, but I think he would due to his versatility. Have him rotate and scrap for a place with MGP, then if we have an injury problem in the centre, bring him into the middle and tell MGP it's his chance to prove the left is his own...

Mozzer Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 i agree. i think koumas could prove a decent signing..he can play anywhere in midfield, his delivery is good, and he can take players on..im sure mark hughes could get the best out of him.. if he did come in. i would like to see him fighting for the left wing spot with pedersen, and as you say, if theres injuries in central midfield he can cover there..
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 As I mention it nicko, looks like Whelan is off to WBA. You still think they'll sign one today?
BRFCGrez Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Koumas would be a great addition for us but I wouldn't pay over £3.5m for him.
fozzer Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 John William is quoted in the LET about long term Midfield and Striker Targets? Do you think this is HUddlestone & Lita?
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 As I mention it nicko, looks like Whelan is off to WBA. You still think they'll sign one today? If someone would allow me to go to Istanbul and bang somebody's head against a table a couple of times...the answer would be 'yes.'
nicko Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 John William is quoted in the LET about long term Midfield and Striker Targets? Do you think this is HUddlestone & Lita? More likely Jam and Tomorrow.
