modes98 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I am not sure the manager is too impressed with Bentley lately, so I would have my doubts about him signing the player wherever he goes. Nicko do you get the impression that Sparky leaving is likely to upset a significant amount of his bargain buys? Need be we can always send Samba round to have a word with Bentley.

Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I think the more pressing question is what happens to all of the posters with 'sparky' in their names... me thinks the mods will be working overtime with 'can i change me name' requests!!
EwoodGlory Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I don't want to pull the old 'I've been around the block and know a good boss when I see one' line...but. I've been around the block and know a good manager when I see one. And Coppell is that man. You just know at times when someone is real. He is. If anyone wants him please feel free to contact and I will do some tapping. Don't know the geezer but I think he is worth chasing. Please do, Coppell has worked wonders at previous clubs, Brighton and Brentford in particular. Also a brilliant job with Reading. He has a record of over achieving, which is what we need. I guess he wouldn't change too much if he came in, and work with the current crop. Other than Coppell, I would like Shearer or Ince, but after that, I really don't know who I would like. One thing I do know is that I don't want Allardyce, I think it would be a backward step for the club. After the hard work to increase the the attendances last season, I think they would dip if he was appointed. Plus, the media would have a frenzy if Blackburn played his style of football.

vintageadidas Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I just had a look at Paul Ince's very short managerial career on Wikipedia and he seems like a gamble worth taking in my opinion. He is young, hungry, knows football inside out, has his badges, played at the highest level (home and abroad), has the Man United culture..........remind you of anyone? I would rather take a gamble than watch BFS's style of football.
MCMC1875 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Spanish sources suggest Allardyce is nailed on. Anyone still taking bets?
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Spanish sources suggest Allardyce is nailed on. Anyone still taking bets? There is some awful trash being pumped out by Sky and the likes right now...so I would not fall for that one yet. Just a thought - look at who is linking him with the Rovers job and ask yourself why.
EwoodGlory Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Spanish sources suggest Allardyce is nailed on. Anyone still taking bets? Next Rovers Manager Odds Unlock the No to Fat Sam thread!! We need someone at the club to see it :!: Just a thought - look at who is linking him with the Rovers job and ask yourself why. Sky are linking him, so they don't have to have him in the studio, maybe he smells?
Oklahoma Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 If any player wants to follow Hughes, please do. But you have to pay good money for it. The new manager wouldn't want a team of unsettled players. So, let's make some money with the transfers, keep the same scouts and buy wisely.

nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Sky are linking him, so they don't have to have him in the studio, maybe he smells? The Sam for Rovers stuff began in The Sun when his mate wrote it. Suddenly it gets legs. But why would Sam want to be linked to the job right now? If he was getting it he would not leak it. Maybe he is using this to get his face back in the papers and telly. Especially at this time. Think about it...
alexanders Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Nicko, are you going to start a SMS or e-mail service, delivering football news? I am not able to do my job efficiently at the moment This thread is like a drug. It ###### me up, but I love it! Keep up the good work!

Flopsy Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 One of these days I will just make one up and see how far it goes. What do you mean "One of these days"?
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 He wants punditry work during Euro 2008? No, he wants to be in the Man City frame... I might not have written the Book of Media Tricks, but I certainly know its contents.
nicko Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 What do you mean "One of these days"? I will let that one pass. For now...
Eddie Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 How about we have a raffle. One pound entry fee, with the money going to nicko's betting fund and the winner getting an article linking them with the rovers job? We can see how far that can go.
MCMC1875 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Maybe I can propose to Georgie Thompson through this medium... Get to the back of the queue pal........

If Chelsea get Scolari in the end you will be able to find me under a large cloud of cigar smoke...before plunging on the Rovers Next Manager market.
vintageadidas Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Nicko could have soooo much fun in this thread. We all know this site is monitored by other reporters as things mentioned or said on here end up in the national press. I have just seen Steve McClaren in McDonald's at Ewood.

MCMC1875 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Don Mackay, John Coleman and Howard Kendall have just gone into Leavers.
Eddie Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Pretty sure that serving up overpriced sh*t has been his job for a few years...
