G Somerset Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Sounds like a few 'Tommy Smith' situations will be happening then. We're probably in for him knowing our luck.

67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 James has been absolute poo this season, did anyone see Clements and Capello's face on MOTD at the weekend during the game, the shaking of the heads said it all.
mhead Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Just signed Chimbonda...it says for over 2 million. Warnock?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I'm sure I saw Fabio mouth the words "you f**king clown."
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Gouhouri is signing for Pompey, isn't he? Chimbonda at 1,5m is a snip, very highly rated by the Spurs fans I've talked too. And versatile, as mentioned. Probably highly rated because they want to get rid... He's rubbish.
67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 With a camera? Hughsey is working I think, maybe he can get up there in is lunch break.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 We need to get his grandad out there with his Canon.
Amo Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I can't see us signing a midfielder. Dunn, Grella, Emerton and Reid (albeit a minor setback) are all returning from injury. I know we'd all love an extra playmaker, but those guys have to earn their paypacket.
colbert Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Not sure about Chimbonda, i've heard he likes to party alot and when he was at sunderland he was always out with his best mate there, Diouf. Dont know how true it is.
Fife Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 We are becoming to right backs what Man City are to strikers! A very talented player who at Wigan he was absolutely superb. This is strange to say the least but according to Wiki he's a centre half and left back who normally plays at right back! He's lost his way in recent times and SA will prob be the best man to resurrect his career. Moving to Spurs has proved a massive set back for him and a move which he must regret ...... now where have we heard that before? My only worry with some of these signings is that maybe there are one or two too many who are proven but ageing. BRFC will likley be their swan song. We made a massive profit on the Hughes era and when Samba goes the profits from Hughes will be complete and verifiable but in 2-3 years time who or how many will we be able to sell? Well now there you go Theno! That's a whole lot better. You see you can do it when you try: A proper reasoned and sensible argument, tempered with just the right tone and completely without the usual trumpet blowing and boring remarks of "how right I am again". That's the way it should be so please keep it up. Oh and I nearly forgot: properly thought through as well. I think also that Sam is aiming to get the balance right between bringing in a mixture of older and more experienced players and a smattering of young players with obvious latent talent. They will be for the future and will eventually blossom into excellent players and thus keep up the pool of "sell on at a profit" talent.

Dont know how true it is. Probably why we've signed him. I think Jonesey's also best pal's with the pair of them..shame we coudn't have got him before last Saturday!
beerwins Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 The lad Jonas Olsson from west brom isnt a name being thrown around at ewood is it ? seems funny west brom have just brought in another defender and so many clubs sniffing around central defenders wouldnt surprise me if he goes somewhere in prem.
Fife Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 if we spend even 5m on a midfielder i will jump from my office window, dash across whitehall and scale big ben but naked. I sincerely hope your office is on the ground floor Mark.
67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 if we spend even 5m on a midfielder i will jump from my office window, dash across whitehall and scale big ben but naked. What time is the shuttle to heathrow.
ffan Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Owen Garvan has been transfer listed by Ipswich, a good decent young attacking midfielder with potential. Could get him for 200 - 500 thousand. Worth the risk in my opinion.
herbergeehh Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Re Herbergeeh: I know we have numbers, but they are always injured. I'd like to put one or two on the transfer list and get a player with creativity who doesn't have breadsticks for legs. Who, though? No one will take on Reid at this point, surely, and we can't sell Andrews as he's one of just two midfielders at the club capable of playing all games. We want to keep David Dunn, Stephen N'Zonzi and Brett Emerton, so that leaves just Vincenzo Grella. Signed for £4m (ouch!) just a year ago, he is probably good enough for someone to take him on for free, but I doubt Sam will allow that. I totally agree with you, although I'm having trouble seeing how it can be done.

Worth the risk in my opinion. Why has he been listed? Is he upsetting the applecart down there or does keane not rate him ?

Fife Rover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I'm intrigued as to whether or not Chimbonda has a say in the matter He's bound to have a say. Nobody can force you to go and play for a club if you don't want to.

Still, we know what a good man manager keane is.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Not good enough for Ipswich ffan? Roy Keane's player judging is quite questionable, look at the donkey's he bought at Sunderland for ridiculous prices.
ffan Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Not good enough for Ipswich ffan? Hell no. This is all down to Keane. He has already helped Shane Supple who was going to be a class goalkeeper quit.
