Well not really according to this article

Going off the above, the big boys would fail....yet the skysports one doesnt seem to think so.....

Clubs will also be assessed on a risk basis, taking into account 'debts and salary levels

Sounds like the big clubs will be protected to me.....sounds more like the smaller clubs will get shafted by this!!? Or is this not true?

I thought most Italian clubs were in big debts, Real Madrid have MASSIVE debts, as do United & Liverpool....but I bet they dont get kicked out!!

It will be interesting to see how this works. What would stop City's arab investors to agree to a large sponsorship deal through a company they own or through a third party thus increasing Cities income disproportionately?

The rules. UEFA has already thought of that. There will be a committee set up to keep an eye on clubs' sponsorship deals to make sure that no one is playing that game. The phrase Platini used in describing the deals between companies & clubs owned by the same entity was "market rate".

How can we maintain being a trading club this time next year, whilst not selling "star players"

Simply because this years figures do not stack up IMO

This time next year, no Benni money.

Merit money, ????? bonuses and such like maybe 1.5m max left for a similar finish to this season

TV money will be covering various holes in operating costs.

Eight players out of contract, little if no money to replace them, or renew their contracts (they always want moer) circa 10m in wages saved but that only accrues doing the course of the year after they leave.

The club needs to develop young stars...players with either local connections, or if not Gems like NZonzi who will be major assets in the future.

What we need this next season is to see the following continue to make big strides - Kalinic, Jones, Hanley, Olsson, Hoilett, NZonzi, Liganzi & then perhaps one or two others such as Ramm, Haworth, Doran or Fielding start putting pressure on the 1st team.

Realistically of those out of contract in 12 months, WHO would we REALLY miss!?

Jacobsen, Chimbonda, Diouf - 1 could potentially move on this summer

Brown, Emerton, Zurab - would not be suprised to see any of these leave this summer - so potentially we may get 1 replacement in.

Salgado, Roberts - Whilst still of use - they aint getting any younger and who knows what level they will be at in 12 months. Im sure if Salgado is still playing to the level he did towards the end of this last season then he will get an extra year.

11 players who next year will in most cases will be still under 23 years old forming almost 1/2 the squad ???? given the eight mentioned leave.

Granted Jones, N'Zonzi, Olsson, Kalinic should push on this season, the rest your hoping come good, if they don't, then what?

Anyway with tonight"s developments I can put my concerns to the back of my mind for a few weeks.

Two very interesting BBC articles:

Written before we got our backsides handed to us by the Germans, this shows how superior the Bundesliga is in the way it is set up compared with the Premier League

Robert Peston on how damaged and damaging the England Football brand is now.e

With average gates of over 40,000, I think there can be little doubt that it is only a matter of time before the Bundesliga closes that £500m a year gap and overtakes the Premier League. Having two of the PL's biggest clubs totally crippled by their American debts means the PL is effectively fighting with one arm tied behind its back.

Do you get the feeling that people are ganging up on the FA.

FA branded 'not fit for purpose' by Richard Caborn

Phillip Iam not sure if the Robert Preston Artical was made before the Nationwide Announcement. But it looks like he has got it right and will the FA get any mega money sponsorship deals soon.

Nationwide likely to end England sponsorship deal

"Nationwide had tabled a £20m offer to extend the partnership for another four years, but this had been turned down by the FA.

Now, the building society has said that sponsorship, which ends at the end of July, was "unlikely to be renewed"."

Now that Nationwide have been sickened by the greedy wallers at the FA who the hell will stump up the money to pay off yet another crap manager?

I'd even suggest that the FA might ask themselves why we pay our national managers so much and offer such long contracts? Wouldn't someone with half an ounce of common sense realise that the first negates the latter? :wstu:
