  1. I'm sure Chris could install XP for you. It's not hard anyway, pretty much the same as installing any application. If you don't have the software then you should at least have the license key. It's usually on a small rectangle sticker with lovely Microsoft holograms all over it. If you have that then all you need is a copy of the XP media which someone could provide as you already have the license. Why give Microsoft another £60?
  2. I think a lot of it depends on what you want to do with the machine which will determine how long it would last you and how much you need to spend. If you want to run the latest games then, yes, you need to be spending the £700-£900 type prices. If you are going to be just working/browsing the internet then you could lower that. Looking at the three systems you highlighted, they are all pretty well spec'd and would do anything that you wanted for the next few years. They are certainly a lot more powerful than my current machine and I have no plans to upgrade. Do you really need the O/S by the way? Did your last machine not have a setup disk? Interesting that Novatech appear to charge about £60 for XP Home on top of the list price. Add to that, I personally wouldn't buy from Tiny, but that's only from the things I've read.
  3. I was thinking the PS3 looked horrible too(maybe I'm getting old). Although the XBOX 360 still looks huge.
  4. However, if you got rid of the Riverside, you'd have even more annoying people sat in the BBE along with not being able to see the last 10 minutes of the game due to them all leaving early.
  5. Eddie's response has just got me thinking about perhaps introducing a pick and choose type season ticket, mainly aimed at those of us that can't make it to all home games but would be willing to commit to say half. If I could buy a season ticket for 9/10 home games then I would be able to come to the games that I can actually make it to without buying a full ST and wasting lots of money. This would benefit the club as it is more guaranteed money and full seats for at least half the games. As there is not exactally a lack of available seats, the club could still save the seats for these tickets, maybe having a section in the least desirable areas of the ground. The season ticket itself could be just a normal ST card that subtracts a game for everytime you swipe into the ground. Or, if you want a particular stand/seat, you could call the Ticket Office to let them know you are coming to that game and to reserve a seat. The advantages to people like me would be:- 1) guaranteed seats for only the games I can make it to 2) Already bought the tickets so would get me off my lazy arse to actually get to more home games. 3) Buying in advance for 10 games is significantly cheaper than buying a full ST. 3) Half season ticket holders could be given 2nd priority over purchasing tickets for cup games / away games 4) can't think of any more! I know it's probably not feasible but I'd buy one!
  6. Are you after just the Burnley games from 2000 -2001?
  7. OK the second half was ok, only one team in it but Spurs didn't exactally try to go out and win it. I really did find it quite a dull game.
  8. Just got home and I've got to say the beer was about 1000 times better than the game. I'm sure that spurs did have something to play for but I'll be damned if they showed it. We were not effectual but at least we didn't lose in the last game of the season. Cheers for a good day out all. See you next season (or pre-season if all goes well)
  9. I saw Wolvesbane support Iron Maiden at Manchester Apollo a couple of years back. Bailey came on towards the end of the Maiden set and did a number with them. Could be a very good signing. Hope Dickinson continues to write more books in the Lord Iffy Boatrace series and his album was class. Can't see him missing Maiden too much. As for Rovers I can't see them changing it too much apart from having gold lions on our sleeves
  10. Oi, you should be working, not thinking about pubs! Although I would like to know where we're meeting.
  11. or create a script to run from cron every night which picks up the new graphics from that day and runs convert (free ImageMagick tool). Free simple and quick.
  12. If the post counts end up staying then I think they should stay for all threads. I don't see there being a problem with users bumping their post count through the word association thread. At least a contribution is being made to the board as a whole. If the count is limited to certain areas or threads then this enhances the idea that there is a status attached to the post count which maybe there shouldn't be. For the Avatars, it would be nice to see them back for a while. Maybe in a moderated fashion or perhaps run through a filter once they've been applied to make sure they are of only a certain size. I can see the issue with copyrighted pictures but surely the Simpsons pictures and some of the others already on the boards are also copyrighted?
  13. Its stored in your profile - ie I can see you joined in May-01 by clicking on your name. There must be a way of adding it on.. I can't see much point in adding that joining date to post information, it would just be used as another excuse to not read someone's post as they "only joined yesterday". Of course I may be wrong and it could be a wonderful feature!
  14. But we'd need to get there early to get the towels on the seats.
  15. Class idea. You provide the sheep.....what am I saying?!?
  16. It means you don't have to have 20 Internet Explorers in your task bar for every page you open. Basically they are all open within the same browser, just on tabs at the top of the page. Kind of like worksheets in Excel (if you use excel).
  17. I know it's not going to happen but I really hope this all back fires on the FA. Arsenal and Man Utd have all been there and done that many times in the past few years so I really hope the fans say enough is enough and stay away. If this sells out then it is setting a bad precedent whereby the FA will think that they can start charging whatever they like. If the stadium was half empty, that would certainly put a dampener on the show piece final for them. If only. Personally, I would have gone to the final for £65. Any more and it would have been a toss up on going to the game or just going to Cardiff and spending that money on the night out instead. Most certainly wouldn't even entertain the idea of going if all you could get was £90 tickets.
  18. Fair enough. Is that how long it takes them to crank the cogs into motion at the FA? At the FA after a football weekend:- Monday - Eat drink, drink, be merry and count all the cash from the fine games at Cardiff Tuesday - Decide to start governing the game again.
  19. I think it speaks volumes that the FA haven't even announced that they are looking into it. Could it possibly be because there's not that much to look into?
  20. I don't think they'll be too gutted at losing the two late goals. We had taken a defender off for an attacker so left gaping holes at the back. I think we'll bounce back nicely to humble Palace. That is always assuming we keep them out of our area. Sky's Goals on Sunday showed a penalty league for this season. Palace were top with 12 awarded and Bolton were second with 6. Double the amount of penalties, how on earth do they get them? no wonder they are still in with a shout!
  21. But Viera did have his leg broken at least three times during the game. That spray the physio uses really is a miracle cure that even mends bones these days.
  22. However the money does go to a very good cause indeed I regularly give to Macmillan. I think someone got a bargain at £51.
  23. However, what about people like me who have to wait until April 2nd before I can get a ticket? If the ticket office bent the rules just a little for all the season ticket holders to get extra tickets for people who never attended, that would leave little choice for us who do attend just without the luxury of season tickets. Although I do agree with what you are saying. Shame there isn't a way of reserving tickets (using information like my details to reserve the seat that I will get as I have a history anyway) when ST holders buy them. I would love to sit with my mates who have already got theirs but I have to wait and will be sat miles away. Never mind, I'll still be there.
