  1. Oh and I urge no one to ever watch Meet the Spartans. A truely awful film.
  2. That does look good, just how I want zombies to look and act. Will that carry over to the actual game though, or just be for the trailer footage? Can't wait for the Demo, if there is one.
  3. Just finished watching Cloverfield and by no means is it film of the year. For a film shot from someones camcorder, it's about 1000 times better than Blair Witch but then again so is Bean and Speed 2. Anyway, I'm bordering straight down the middle, didn't hate it but didn't love it. It's very short (the length of a DV cam tape ie 1hr 15mins) and the story goes absolutely nowhere. Run around, run around some more, run around some more. The ending was predictable, mainly because of the opening titles. And isn't it amazing that in a place the size of Manhattan, the monster always turns up in the same place as the main characters. That all sounds very negative but on the plus side it was very well set out and well realised. Quite suspensful just I shame I didn't care about the characters one bit.
  4. Never had that one, seems very strange if you're sycning with an internet time server. Ah yes, that's a very common one. Vista is just basically crap at file transfers. They reckon that SP1 has fixed the time problem, it's now just as slow but actually guesses the times right! Deep joy. Again, not had that but I have a dedicated 3D card. Have you tried turning the Aero graphics off? Lots of people have problems with than on built in graphics chips. That is quite old now, infact weren't they bouhgt by Corel? I use Corel Paint Shop Pro which works fine. If you really want to run old software, try something like VMWare (which is free) and install a virtual XP machine. You do need a fair bit of memory for this, at least 1gb for vista and a further 500mb for XP. Crap ain't it, thank god other developers can actually make things work! Yep, I've struck a balance. Turned enough off to stop it complaining that it's off but it doesn't whing with every mouse click. Still an absolute pain in the arse when installing a program that in turn tries to install something else (like AutoGK which installs virtualdub and codecs). Vista asks for permission for the parent program but then doesn't pass that on to secondary installs so won't allow itself to write to Program Files. Very f'ing annoying but I can see why they have done it. Actually, going through all that, not sure why I've still got it on my PC! I think it's just that I don't want to feel like going backwards.
  5. What actually is the problem you are having with Vista? All you mention earlier is about hating it and wanting to downgrade. Whatever the issue is, I can't see upgrading to Premium really helping as all the internal bits and drivers are identical. I also wouldn't hold out much hope for SP1 as all the magazines I've read with the ealry release say that it doesn't do that much. Certainly doesn't speed it up any. The only thing I am getting more and more hacked off with at the moment is IE7 hanging all the time. It's also taking it ages to open new tabs. Firefox is fine though. Stupid broken OS.
  6. Who knows what goes on in the minds of tinseltown folk. Isn't Norbit nominated for something. Yep "Achievement in Make-up" Surely it's the same as every other fat suit Eddie Murphy has put on in his career. Oh and I watched Sweeney Todd over the weekend. Thought it was a nice realisation of the story. I just didn't get into the songs, nothing particularly catchy and I found it hard to make out what Helena Bonham Carter was singing half the time. I think it's just me though as the rest of the world seem to think it's the best adaptation ever.
  7. I take it hat by "vista manages to reboot" that you actually haven't been able to format the hard drive or remove vista? Otherwise it would just tell you that it either can't find files or the disk was not bootable? If you have a bootable CD of XP then you can boot straight from that and ask it to do a clean install and then when it asks you where you want it to install, it will give you the option to delete current partitions, you should blat all of them to make sure Vista is gone then select the empty partition and let the XP install format the disk. It's a while since I've actually bothered to try and get rid of Vista but I know I didn't have to go back to Win98.
  8. Yeah, just given it a go. Fairly fun but not one I would have kept if it wasn't free.
  9. It's only free to make up for Live being screwed for weeks after Christmas. Is it any good though? They really should have offered any game free up to 800 points as not everyone has the same tastes in games.
  10. Why? Because of the first person view? I can see your point somewhat in that all those reviews are giving it great scores. The question is, will it travel over the water. Blair Witch was all hype and no substance what so ever. I'm hoping this one lives up to the hype. I've just been through some of the new trailers on quicktime.com and here are my thoughts:- Batman Dark Knight - Can't wait for that one Wall-E (new pixar) - not convinced by this but I do love Pixars. Over her dead body - Actually looks quite interesting. Mamma Mia - Not sure it's going to translate as well as Chicago or Sweeny Todd, far too fun and bubbly. Still, probably watch it. Sex and the City - Good god no! Hellboy 2 - Loved the first one so hoping for good things from this. Hancock - Looks very interesting but you can write the script now. Drags on the bumbling idiot for too long then saves the world. Narnia 2 - Hopefully as good as the first one. Out of that lot, I can only see me going to the cinema for The Dark Knight.
  11. HD-DVD is dead, long live HD-DVD. Well it's as good as dead now Warners (and New Line) have gone with BluRay.
  12. Haven't got it myself as I really can't see there being enough content to justify an extra £10 per month. BBCHD is about the best looking channel and that is free. Channel 4 HD has just launched and you don't need a subscription to see that but you do need a SkyHD box. There is rumour that Channel 4's contract with Sky for encryption is up soon and they will follow BBC and ITV in going completely free to air. This would mean that you could pick up those HD channels with any HD box and no subscription. Of course, if you really want HD footy then you need to pay Sky.
  13. Finally got round to watchin Mr Magoriums Wonder Emporium on Friday night. Awful Awful film. What was Dustin Hoffman thinking. Even looking at Natalie Portman didn't help as she had the strangest "boy" style hair cut. Avoid at all costs.
  14. Yep, had a go last night. Wish I could get my old Kempston joystick to work on the 360. Now that would be perfect retro gaming.
  15. Damn, just came home and couldn't find it. Was wondering. They could have left it up and fixed it with an update. I don't want to play it online anyway.
  16. Excellent, that's the one I've been waiting for.
  17. Just finished watching the "Final Cut" on HD-DVD tonight and it is the best version out there. It is also stunning in HD, the city scapes are superb. Overall, an excellent offering.
  18. Excellent film. But won't you feel terrible the next time you have to kill a Rat? Strangly, I also thought Enchanted looks like it could be quite good.
  19. I wish you would say what games you are referring to, gametrailers is blocked at work
  20. I've got the 5-disc HD-DVD version on it's way from the US. Can't wait. Just finished watching "American Pie Beta House" (How many more can they churn out?) and really enjoyed it. Probably because of all the nudity but hey, if it works.
  21. I particularly like this line "ps this is going to murder the 360 and halo and no im not a fanboy either" lol. I don't know why Amazon allow pre-release reviews. Makes no sense at all.
  22. They can set target Signal to Noise ratios, speeds etc at their end. ISP's usually do it if they think a line is going to be bad so that it doesn't keep dropping on you whilst using it. Nothing worse than irate customers saying they lose connection every 10 minutes. Better a slow connection than none at all. I think they probably just unticked the "We're a stupid ISP" setting.
  23. Also tried Rayman, Crash of the Titans. Again quite fun but bloody annoying linear camera. Good to stick on for kids, not much else.
