I can't wrap my head around signing this lad for this quoted fee. He played half the games for a small club in Portugal last season... I know inflation has driven the price of players up but 1.7 million for a lad who only started 15(?) games last season. Something feels off.

So he says "around 2 million euro" in English thats £1.7 million. I think we could probably round that down to more likely 1.5 mill including add-ons. He'll probably initially cost about 800-900k. Which sounds more like us tbh.

He'd need to have an unbelievable pre season fitness wise because last season the lad just couldn't move, his legs had gone. I don't know if it's injuries catching up to him or whatever but I watched him walk through games almost. Shame because he has some leadership qualities and is a really strong lad, he bullies people in most duels. At his peak, a really useful player for us. Thing is, the game requires so much more from players now and last season it looked like he was running in treacle. I hope he comes back as the old JRC but I doubt it.

Players are like avatars these days... Remember Szmodics being told exactly what he wants from JDT? Run there and only there over and over. They're told exactly what to do and it's down to them to cope with the physicality and win their individual battles. Reaction time, body shape, fitness levels etc... They obviously think that given his pace they can coach him into something potentially useful. Those talking about his frail looking appearance, remember Beck, he looked like a school boy when I first saw him. As usual, best to set your expectations low of course. It's likely he probably won't be good enough to improve us.

If he's as quick as they make out, he should at least do ok for us. I'm guessing we've spent something like 200k... Tops.

I'm as critical as anyone over the bastards running our club but I've always maintained that money doesn't always guarantee you much in the championship unless you're spending mega like the yo-yo clubs. The rest of us have to try to do smart business. I'm not saying De Neve will be one of those but the price paid for a player doesn't always equate to success. Take Gallagher for example he cost 5 million and Ohashi for 100k did better numbers. Don't get me wrong, by the sounds of it, he'll probably be shit.

Jade Jones wouldn't be terrible. I can imagine he would frustrate a lot of our fans, he can be a big threat because he's absolutely lightening quick but can be wasteful in front of goal. For those who want more pace in the team, he's arguably the quickest player in this country. The sort of player this lot could make a fortune on if they can get consistent end product out of him. It's the sort of signing we should be making in my opinion... A good age and a lot of potential. The issue is getting him at a reasonable price from Posh and they're always (rightly so) tough to deal with.

Football seems to be stuck in a bit of identity crisis which in my opinion is a good thing. As we're starting to see a bit more variety in different methods rather than just attempts at total Guardiola football. A lot of the big boys have built reputations on being the best at this type of football but look at the trend now, they're all looking for a big physical centre forward and are slowly conceeding to the reality of how effective having a player like that up front really is. It was unfashionable a few years ago, now it's becoming a bit of a blueprint. My point being... We have that sort of player in Gueye, like those teams, you need to be making the most out of him by playing to his abilities. Get early balls in the box, have pace out wide and have a pacier option on the bench in case it doesn't work. I really think Makhtar is that sort of player that could bang in 15 goals+ if he can get off to a good start.

To counter that, I think he wins almost everything. Including a few times when we were defending a lead at home he was the best at heading it clear and did it numerous times. People are way too overly critical of him IMO... We've hardly ever played to his strengths.

Lot of talk about Hedges, I'll sum it up for you... He's a "it'll do" type signing for the club. Wages, versatility, professionalism... Has he got the quality to help improve our league position? No. Do the club care about that either? No. An uninspiring player, for an uninspiring club.

Charlie Kelman at Orient looks a proper player. I imagine a few champ clubs will be sniffing of they don't go up.

Wanted to come on and say fair play to Val. 4 wins on the spin is never easy in this league so it's only fair I give credit when it's due because I always give criticism when it's due. To win from behind is something we never do so that's really positive and lifts confidence going into this last must win game. To win 5 on the bounce with the 5th being at Sheffield Utd, a ground we hardly get anything from I think will be a stretch to far but at least there's something to play for. My thoughts on the remaining fixtures... I don't think Bristol will win any of their remaining games, I think they'll get beat off Leeds and draw with Preston. Cov and Boro is anyone's guess. Gut feeling says draw. Burnley will beat Millwall. Unfortunately I think we'll come up short against Sheffield United, have chances but end up with a draw. There will always be these willing to eat shit and have 0 fucking perspective of what has happened to the club over these 15 years and you'll never get these people to effectively protest. The message has to be short, simple and clear. SELL THE CLUB. You're done, no more chances, no exceptions, no gestures, changes, statements.... LEAVE.

Not sure where the fans are with the protests but in my opinion... There needs to be a clear focus on the end goal... SELL THE CLUB. Whilst I enjoy seeing the fans direct their discontent with Waggot, Gestede and Pasha... they're just pawns being used as a barrier for the 'owners'. I know the fans are acting on the "express yourself' moto but I fear the anger is being diluted and shifted away from the real problem. We all know this can't be fixed.
