  1. Just my opinion but I wouldn't want Hanley back. A season on the bench, clearly likes a drink, I think we need to look to do better than that.
  2. Dru Yearwood at Southend might be one to look at. Ivan Toney at Peterbrough looks, moves and plays like Wilf Zaha. Watched highlights from their games yesterday and looked unbelievable.
  3. Didn't realise Forster played for Southampton against West Ham, his first start since 2017. Pulled off some decent saves too.
  4. I can probably see where you are coming from but then again we have taken a lot of points from teams in and around the top 6 and then failed to turn up against teams like Rotherham. We need more consistency in the defensive areas to push us up there.
  5. I'd love Fraser Forster, well out of favour at Southampton but probably on big money. I have a feeling this is one he might get from the continent.
  6. I think that's a bit harsh, got some good young players coming through, Rothwell, Dack and Lenihan are 3 decent players for us, I also think the same for Arma. There's a lot of crap, no arguments there but there some reason for optimism.
  7. Surely there comes a point where you just wash your hands of it? Give the lad and silly bollocks agent a final offer that they can either take or swivel. If he signs it will be with a bitter taste the greedy prick.
  8. He isn't good enough, else he'd be in the Championship. Sounds like a prick, f*ck him. I hope Waggot laughed and ended their interest then and there. Otherwise, give him a take it or leave it offer that will only last so long before we move on.
  9. I'd tell Bauer and his agent to jogg on. The player will be fully aware of what his agent is asking. Judging by the players words and actions he strikes me as someone believing his own hype... You're a league 1 defender pal, you should expect to be on the some of the lowest wages here.
  10. I admire TM's passion, quite enjoyable to watch that video but it does bring me back to his simplified way of thinking about football. We've conceded a lot of goals not just due to the defence but because of our general style of play, mananger not knowing his best 11, lack of identity, lack of intensity, game management, lack of fouls higher up the pitch and not keeping possession for crucial periods in the game. If you don't have a team or the players to retain poession, then the ball will keep coming back at you and no matter what defenders you have, it's going to be very difficult to defend against. Tony is a good man, I want to see good men do well in football, especially at my own club, I just hope he see's these things too.
  11. Is this something you've heard or are you just speculating? Bauer is a given really, our interested in him has been well documented.
  12. Crap source, any truth in it? Can imagine lots of players like this coming for trials. https://the72.co.uk/129570/blackburn-rovers-bring-non-league-attacking-prodigy-in-on-trial/
  13. Plenty that would do a job in the European market that wouldn't cost the earth. Santa Cruz and Mccarthy were both good ones as an example. Sensible investment I've always found to be one of the things Rovers used to do well. Brereton went against that, I hope Mowbray has learned a valuable lesson there.
  14. See I disagree. I think chucking money at it is a dangerous game in this league and you get little reward for it. Look at Dack and Rothwell, both signed for change and are better than lots of trash signed for millions. It's about the right recruitment done by the right manager, look at Farke at Norwich, Wilder at United, or Wagner at Huddersfield. All managers with a clear vision of how they want to play, recruited the appropriate players and got the best out of them. I'm hoping TM proves me wrong and turns out to be that manager but I'm not sure.
  15. Nice one. My guess he was there to see Petersen or the goal keepers. I hope he wasn't watching Guus Till because we'd have no chance of that one happening.
  16. Its definatley possible, just have to take the risk.
  17. Starting to think a replacement for Graham might not be what we need if we want to progress. Don't get me wrong, the lad has been absolutely brilliant this season, my player of the season without doubt BUT... If we are to progress as the manager wants us to and play a different brand of football then we're going to need someone a bit more mobile and versatile I think. Graham is great at what he does but it can make us a bit one dimensional. If we want to to play quicker, sharper more expansive football then we're going to need someone who can drag centre halves into positions they don't want to be in. Players like this who can finish aren't easy to find though.
  18. Besides the goal, Trav has had a shocker... As has Bennett and Dack.
  19. Having to do that just highlights a number of issues, poor positional sense, lack of organisation and no awareness. Mulgrew is exactly the same, people would give him loads of praise for tackles but it was his sheer lack of a defensive brain which got him into to hose positions.
  20. People were just making the point that it's not everything.
  21. I'd be quite comfortable going into next season with Lenihan and Del at centre half. Williams is a dogger full back but at centre half he looks a different player, mainly because he's not asked to do more than just defend. All I've wanted our defenders to do all season is win their individual battles and do the basics which he and Lenihan do. That said, if there was an obvious signing we could make that is simply better than him then I'd be all for it and we definatley need more depth there. Personally I see Bauer being our only defensive signing.
  22. If we want another older, wiser head centre forward as alternative to DG then we could do worse than Pitman at Pompey. Not always been first choice this season despite banging in an obscene amount of goals last season but has still managed 14 goals. His goal scoring record over the years has been very good. Scored with a tidy finish today too.
