  1. Bennet already been skinned and given away a free kick on edge our box.
  2. I'm actually looking forward to watching this team today for the first time in a long time. Bar Bennett at right back we look solid, if we're going to get picked apart then it will occur down the wings. I think we can really hurt this lot today if we win the midfield battle. Trav and Evans need to get the ball forward.
  3. Just sitting in there spreading the ball around, think he'd do a solid job. He has played there for large portions of his career tbf.
  4. You must've missed that stat of points gained with Mulgrew at centre half! Williams is a dogger full back but a decent CB IMO. Rather have him in there at the moment. Quicker and more aggressive, Mulgrew is where he should be from now on.
  5. Anyone else that would have preferred to see Mulgrew in DM than Evans?
  6. He keeps referencing Sheff UTD in the press but we all know by now that what media Mowbray says, manager Mowbray will do the other.
  7. Well, I didn't call him a bad manager, who could? The question from many fans is, is he the man to take us forwards? I'd bet large section of the fan base are unsure, especially after his many blunders the past 2 months. It's been a very public and self inflicted dip in results, with the manager largely to blame. No manager is perfect, I can accept that but what he needs to do is start learning from his mistakes and play to our strengths. Perhaps also reign in the outlandish comments in the press too, currently he's talking a lot of nonsense that I just cant fathom. I hope he gets it right, he's a good bloke, I want to see good people in football succeed, especially at Rovers. That said, it comes back to that same question, at this level, is he good enough? We'll soon find out. If he learns his lessons, plays our strongest side then he'll do OK. If he starts reverting back to chopping and changing after every result and continues to play Smallwood/Evans in midfield... He'll get what he deserves.
  8. Agreed. Williams is actually a decent centre half but a dogger full back. QPR at home Williams was MoM easy whilst at CB. He's quicker, more aggressive and I don't often see him diving in back there, which is good. Think back to how many last ditch tackles Mulgrew has had to throw himself into, one against Stoke certainly sticks out but there are countless others, like Maldini said... It's not the sign of a good defender, if you're having to dive in it just highlights poor positional sense and bad organisation.
  9. I was enjoying my day until you p*ssed on my chips here. In all seriousness though its a valid point, if he's on substantially less than players like Dack and Graham and TM is serious about playing him from now on then he probably needs to be offered another contract. He's not going to turn it down at this point I don't think.
  10. I think we need better than a reserve keeper, bring in someone who's obviously going to improve us in this critical area, some that he can learn from and has to fight tooth and nail to get his spot back from. Can only be good for him, an abvious reserve keeper will keep him on easy street. His complacency has cost us too many points for us to rely on him again next season.
  11. Never have I seen on this site SO MANY FANS saying the same things about how we play and how these opinions conflict with the managers actions. This is no coincidence, the fella has simply been so fundamentally wrong in his decision making the past 2 months, this win just further highlights this fact. I'm quite taken back by how badly he's got it wrong after winning a game rather than losing a game because its pretty clear to see how we've lost games these past 2 months, after a win of this nature it's very a very difficult pill to swallow knowing how many points and restless nights he's cost us.
  12. Its a lot easier to portray yourself as a good manager with the biggest budget in league 1, he's got some way to go to convince the masses he's a good enough manager to take us forwards in this league.
  13. This is exactly how I feel. I find many people think that a football manager knows best because their in the job and we aren't. They don't always know what's best. Case and point is Mourinho at United, too many square pegs in rounds holes, not picking his best team, gets sacked, next manager comes in, picks their best side, attacks teams and wins games. Think managers can almost get too involved at times that they can't see the wood for the trees or are too stubborn in what they perceive to be their ideal type of side that they overlook how to get the best out of what they have which conflicts with their beliefs. I certainly find this to be the case with Mowbray and it seems to be quite a public lesson he's learning right now, it shouldn't be something for him to be ashamed of, I just hope he learns from it rather than being stubborn and reverting to type. I want him to succeed, we all do but I can only back him if he see's the obvious mistakes he's made, takes it on the chin, learns and doesn't start playing silly buggars again in a few games time.
  14. 100%. Not sure Joe will ever be the goal scorer that Dack is but will be a better creator of goals than him I think.
  15. I just can't... ?‍♂️ Let the lad play football Tony, he's a better quality footballer than you've ever been. Can you imagine him saying stuff like this to Hazard, Messi, Neymar? He's trying to make things happen pal, it's not as simple as running forwards, you have to find pockets of space to open teams up and only good players can exploit this. His thinking at times worries me.
  16. Don't think anyone can question it being Graham. He wins it hands down. Goals, leadership, playing through pain, hold up play. Top bloke.
  17. I don't think thats good enough, he's the type of midfielder you build a team around, he will have games where he will try things and it might not come off but you just have to take the rough with the smooth. Dack gets this allowance and it shouldn't be any different for Joe.
  18. First of all, well done to the manager, he's had a lot of stick off me but I think its only fair to give credit where its due too and he deserves it after an unexpected win. Still don't agree him picking Bennett over Nyambe at right back, I've seen enough of Bennett there to know he's not a good full back and one win doesn't change that. He should be a squaddie, not a starter. Think he needs to show a bit more faith in Nyambe, he's a good player that needs to develop and he can't do that whilst sat on the bench. He needs to be first choice going forwards and allowed to make mistakes. Great result for Mowbray but also shows him up that many of the fans have been right about picking the midfield he picked last night (bar Conway). Feels almost like a 'look what you could have had' situation. Had he been picking Dack and Rothwell all season with Reed in the centre mid... Christ knows how this season would have turned out, I simply can't comprehend how someone can look at last week's midfield and prefer it to this one, there simply is no comparison, last night's midfield is superior in every single aspect. Rothwell and Dack on form should be unstoppable in this league, I can't think of any sides capable of dealing with that sort of quality. Most importantly, Joe's quality lifts the burden off Dack and allows him to find more space. His finish and general performance just underlines why fans like myself have been so insistent he play, he changes the whole dynamic of the side. Certainly made a few questioning him eat their words for sure. Would still like to see us sign Reed if possible but I think the managers use of him may have burned that bridge unless he puts an arm around him and tells him he and Trav are his first choice going going forward, makes him vice captain and plays him there for the rest of the season. He's a quality CENTRE MID. Chuffed with the win, especially for Mowbray but a definite feeling of what could have been having seen that.
  19. The problem is celebrity culture isn't the fault of people like his moronic girlfriend, its the fault of the people who let themselves be poisoned by it. Watching shite big brother, love Island or basically anything on ITV is truly low IQ stuff, dumbing down the masses and making us all superficial obsessed consumers. Unfortunately for Dack, this person has poisoned him so much that the thing that makes him unique in this world is no longer a priority to him anymore. From a business perspective, Rovers need to see this and get big money for him whilst they can.
  20. Not an idea between 3 of them seemingly. His back room staff concern me as much as he does. They're all prehistoric in their methods.
  21. Since he took over he's not put his own stamp on the team at all, a few face changes perhaps but he's still dependant on the players Coyle and Lambert signed which took us down... Who have already proved aren't good enough for this league and will only mean one thing. He so often says on thing and does another. Back in February he said Rothwell and Brereton will get more games, since then both have had the sum total of 3 starts, Rothwell has 2 but only since Sheff Wednesday. He has no faith in many of his own signings. Will do anything to play Bennett at the expense of players like Harry Chapman or even Rothwell who should have been a natural replacement for Dack. Has absolutely no involvement in the European transfer market, says that its something they're looking to explore but in typical Mowbray style I can guarentuee (if he's still here in the summer) he wont make a single foreign signing. As a manager he's not learning from his previous managerial mistakes. Didn't sort out the defence at Coventry and played too many players out of position at Celtic. On current form, he's as bad as any manager we've had since we've been relegated. A much nicer bloke mind but that counts for little in football.
  22. I think people are a bit harsh on Arma. Lad was unlucky hitting the bar and I can think of quite a few efforts this season that he's had that have hit the woodwork. At times this season he's looked unplayable. I question the managers use of him to be honest, if he's not created anything out wide he should have been given opportunities in the last 15-20 mins through the middle instead, few times have we seen his pace up top playing on the shoulder. To critisise him out of all the dross we have... It's definatley harsh.
