My penneth ... well done for getting through but we are going to have to drastically improve. What penalty(ies) ?? - yet again uproar made against ones that should have been against us which blatantly were not - compared to stonewall ones for us. Its now NO NO NO Nonda - he offers nothing McCarthy - start to pull your finger out - how many times does he want to be offside?? We have to stop giving the ball away for FFS and stop dwelling on it - there where many times last night where we just didn't concentrate and lost some good attacking opportunities - especially in the first 1/2 hour. Jeffers deserves a start - did more in the little time he had than Nonda has done for the past 5 games. Thanks goodness for Brad - still alot of of stand off in defence though Zurab was downright awful. MGP -imo did alright compared to recently and his 'broken' rib - if only he would stop being so lacksadaisical with his crosses and passing. Except for Gray and Whoareya (he is beginning to impress me) the rest was much of a muchness with Tugay probably the only one with any credit - had alot of the ball but not much on for him to pass to. Thought Feynenoord where quite impressive in patches until they got to the penalty box. One thing is certain - the last two Euro games we have got 4 pts - when in all reality we probably should have had none. Now the worrying part - Interview with Sparky last night he said he thought we where the better team and controlled most of the game especially the first 20 mins - and the interview with Savage - he said we went out to win and he also thought we controlled the game .... Doh!! Well done to the fans who travelled - I'm sure you will have enjoyed it. All I can say is thank goodness for the break. -

Tris totally agree with what you are saying - think most who play football would. Le Chuck to me is just one of them and belongs on that panel Ironic (or should that be ironically thing is that Paul Elliot is on it) with his history of the Anfield saga. Correct decision my arse - I'll say it again and I am yet to be convinced there was contact from any replay - if there was and its a BIG BIG IF then every flaming challenge in the penalty box would be a penalty. -

Something I picked up on and questioned Rev. Anyway, the officiating today was downright disgraceful. Regardless of what happened there isn't a cat in hells chance that Tugays challenge was a penalty - he made a genuine attempt at the ball and the Spuds player fell over is sliding back leg. Now if that is deemed a penalty then nearly every contact in the penalty box should be called as a penalty including the push on Pedersen. The ironic thing is the player would have probably scored if he had stood up - cheat. Secondly - Mido smido - wtf was going on in the first half - the ref went over to him to say he so him use his elbow and did absolute bugger all.. Also it was a blatant handball - MOTD2 - What a bunch of tossers!! did everything to try and prove it wasn't a penalty - linesmans view my arse - it was higher up and not even level - look at the replays the linesman is stood in front of Mido so should have seen it. As for Ghalys sending off - IMO ref also got that wrong - yellow at most for a clumsy challenge but thats it - was refreshing hearing Jol's comments but as we all know the refs can't be wrong nowadays. Now gripe for Rovers - Why oh why don't we play like that from the start? Front two shocking again as a twosome up until the sending off then Mccarthy came alive. Attacking wise we where very poor again untill the sending off creating very little Bentley and MGP both poor - again what is going on with Bentley and Bert? We should have won regardless. -

We are gonna win - I can feel it in my Guinness Rovers 3 v Spurs 1 -
No problems rg and I think this is what Mr B's intention is - I agree on this and am not totally whiter than white if you know what I mean ie my reactions might have been of similar nature if a MU fan had been sat near me (depenedent on their actions) but it wouldn't have been a drink I would have been throwing ... it would have been Bobf as he sits in front of me Think fernhurstblue above covers it more to the point in terms of balancing things up.
-
Think you are missing my point rg. Not condoning it - and I can only comment on what people have posted and what Mr B has said in the LET just saying remember the circumstances and who we where playing. Presumably from what you have said you actually witnessed it - but the incident although a one off as such is not unfamiliar ie reaction to an opposition goal etc not customary to an opposition fan. From what I have read it would appear the whole situation was badly handalled , however the ' antagonists' as such sound like they need a civil society lesson. If Rovers do raise an investigation maybe then these people will be told to do one and possibly charged in accordance. Hope this explains better

Seem ro remember the same being said of Duff ..... the rest as they say is history

Apparently didn't just stop at the ground and carried on on the trains according to a UTD fan here at work -lights, seats etc being damaged Also before everybody knee jerks and starts categorising people of the same ilk (Im a BB Ender by the way)- he has said in the report that he does not blame the BB End. There are alot of the more passionate fans who sit/stand there and has always been the case Now let me just throw in the Citeh game and then think about it. What if they had been UTD fans - would there have been any moaning then? Apologies to Mr Brotherston and co but this was a one off incident that he has explained and understands how the situation arose - remember though emotions where running high which the visit of UTD always raises and creates a hostile atmosphere.

Good points wakefieldrawks, and something that I always find mystifying re the attacking midfielder being asked to change his game to a defensive midfielder. Same happened with Dunn and Souness ... Why? As I have said before .. I am not a fan of this holding midfielder malarkey there are two in there that should know what each others strengths are and have the intelligence to read the game each match - There is nothing wrong with having an attcking midfielder in your ranks ... as long as everybody knows there jobs yous should be able to utilise that man for his advantages. This is evidently obvious in what Rovers are short of at the moment, we need some creation and flair - Gally needs to be given a chance as he has certainly shown it in his cameo appearances - then we might see what our strikers are effectively capable of. Build his confidence, give him the chance Sparky and then we can make a decision of yeah or nay - as Abbey says if he is no good then get rid but don't just let him fade to nothing before giving him a go.
-
Managed to sprint half the pitch again though with the ball didn't he before coming off though YSB Not one that was calling him as I thought he also had an excellent game (and season so far), but his previous antics go before him and have set precedence and he he did 'fall over' a few times towards the BB End. Personally, I enjoyed the match and I was more worried with our shortcomings rather than the defeat -was it just me or could the weather have downed the noise somewhat but the UTD fans didn't seem as noisy as previous times. Overall, as others have said looks like Utd have got the makings of the Utd of ' Old' and are far more enjoyable to watch than Chelski.
-
1864 agree with most of this expecially the tactical nous of Sparky - we needed freshening up after their goal so I don't know what Sparky was thinking off. What is the point of having them and waitinf until the last minute to bring them on. As with many on here, I expect more of the front two regarrdless of the minimal service they are getting at the moment - McCarthy has gone of the boil and Nonda is another Ashley in my book. They do not work as a front pairing. Their is a lack of directness and conviction - something I mentioned after the Salzburg game. Mokoena did ok for his limitations but is not the answer and his distribution is awful. What was wrong with Bentley - ddn't seem to want to pass to Bert. As with others thought Utd deserved their win and if neede looked like they could step up another gear if required, but they didn't need too. Overall the worrying aspect is the lack of chances and the few we get the composure to do something with them - yet another game with no goals AT HOME and the reality check in that we could have still be been playing now and not scored again. Againt Spurs - IMO Gallagher, Jeffers and Peter should start - I think its fairly obvious who needs dropping.

For all those doubters on the Wage issue - the Beckham 'image' would probably pay his wages anyway in increased Revenue The big question would be if he would be willing to take a drop in wages ... say £60k pw as DMTP as mentioned - Would be interesting to see what is morals are in this respect - as I'm sure if we where willing to pay the Welsh Wizard this then I am sure as hell they would pay it to Golden Balls -or should that be Blue n White Balls? -
As with many others on here I am worried about this one. Can't see us winning but a gutsy performance may well see us play a little better. Will be interesting to see if Bert will be fit - Sparky may chose to play him in midfield and push BENTLEY into the center. Would prefer Jeffers and Gallagher to start ahead of Nonda and Mokoena as they are more attack minded IM Will we score ... hmmm Will we shoot ... hmmmm Will Ferdinand be on our side ... (again ) hmmmmmmmm Sadly another defeat 1 - 3

Totally agree here NEARREY - not a big Beckam fan really but would be a good ideal shortish term replacement/sidekick job share with Tugay rather than for the Right hand side berth Might not be as pie in the sky as some people think -
So you don't like them either Bobski - no sitting on the fence for you
-
Same here Just don't like em we we are playing em

Cool - game of 'Wall'ie anybody'

Agree talent they must have Den much the same as anything or to put it another way 'natural flair' - however out on the street what they get is freedom to develop and express themselves out on the street - learning the game comes as you grow older. This is part of the reason I am against academies - it becomes too structural for my liking - guidance is required rather than all out tutorial. Anyway, not about Taylor but Tony Kane. Our FD here at work is a big Stockport County Fan and said he had an excellent game for them on Saturday and has not seen anybody that good at RB at that level and is the best he has seen for them. Now itn might only be his first game and at a lower level but looks like it could be encouraging.
