  1. And basing it on your comments on various threads ... who can afford it. Except of course TND and Chesh
  2. Something I totally agree with and brought up in a topic previously except the tactics(come to that later). Either Den or Rev mentioned the existence of natural talent - this which I feel everybody agrees with , needs to be evident to some degree but what also needs to be evident is an understanding and reading of what the game is actually about. Not everybody needs the speed of Linford Christie or the Bulk of Arnold Schwarzenegger outright but they need the mental side 100% - it needs to be in the blood this can't be installed but it can be brought out and developed this by playing games. Now TACTICS - I hate this word in the world of football - now it might be me but IMO there is only one tactic and that is to win the game. Too much emphasis to me is placed on this is the modern game which I think contributes to the problems with the game. ITS ALL ABOUT NOT GETTING BEAT rather than scoring GOALS. Players need to be able to go out and enjoy the game, be able to express themselves and impact their own style/influence - something which is quite evidently subdued nowadays for the majority which leads back to the post from Billy.
  3. Good points Rev and if the situation is as such no funds are available, then alternatively ( which I think a few would advocate) is the issue of Faith being put into youngsters coming through. If we find ourselves in such a situation and cannot give rise to this faith then questions need to be answered re the benefits of the academy and the relevant people responsible for bringing them through the ranks - why are they not considered good enough, what is going on etc?
  4. Improve in apparent ability maybe not ys but might see a difference in performance and application. Would also get the apparently better players thinking.... we would hope anyway
  5. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Xmas everybody and welcome to the Wonderful (or not so Wonderful at the mo) World of Rovers. Taken the Blue n White specs off yet? Yet again I have to pat myself on the back for another foresight I gave you all about the front two at the beginning of the season and how it would cost us - fancy flicks but no directness ... and look now everybody jumps on the bandwagaon as if it something that has not happened before. Worry thing here is .. we have not played in Europe for over a week so cannot blame that but yet again its not just one player who does not perform.. something that is becoming an apparent on a regular basis. Add this to the lack of concentration, misplaced passes and lack of application and ideas and you can see why we are having problems. Forget the injuries, we are making mistakes at an alarming rate which is just not acceptable at professional level regardless of whether they are a first team or fringe player. Two numpties up front who get caught offside numerous times yet never seem to be in the box, couple that with the attempts at controlling a ball especially Nonda and wasting good opportunities and we end up with what we are seeing. 5 goals in 9 matches - pathetic Some players need a really big kick up the arse with a reality check ... give the benchers a start and we might start to see some response.
  6. 0 v 0 Charlton nervy because they need a win - Rovers normally the charity case try to abstain from getting beat and our forwards flatter to deceive.. 20,127
  7. Funnily enough TND .... I did which I don't think people will be surprised to hear , don't know if BobF was listening though
  8. Benfica - their ground is tremendous and the Tube runs straight to it with a shopping centre next too it with bars and food outlets and a bit of fairground on top.
  9. Not for wanting to repeat others .. the Palace play off immediately comes to mind but as some have said the actual outcome may have been for the best. Trelleborgs home and away/Citeh at home as mentioned One not yet mentioned and only for the particular reason that the Rovers fans seemed to be everywhere was the defeat at Stoke in the old first division when we where on our unbeaten run. Sheff Utd in the cup .. and the resultant (expected) on penalties defeat. Away at Port Vale 2 v 0 - again in the old Division when they had already been relegated but moreso to change the performance rather than the result - we where awful. There are many more.....
  10. This will be more difficult than people think and we always seem to struggle against them for some reason. Given their morale boosting win over the Gooners and it adds a little more to the situation. We need a win and to start scoring some goals We have had a rest so should be a little more refeshed and on that basis make home advantage count. 2 V 1 Rovers - nervy first half with us possibly going behind but responding with x2 Jeffers goals in the 2nd half when Hughes finally realises Nonda is just a no no no. Crowd - 13,281
  11. A bit premature eh bobski the months not ended yet - plenty more could happen yet - also threatening to retire!!! Take some viagra man Anyway another good essay - you'll get A++ - but then again doesn't anybody nowadays.
  12. Complete guess but just seemed to ironic not to be 7 OUT OF 10
  13. FA CUP DRAW Its that time again.
  14. Probably would if he was given the opportunity in the team. However due to our labourius rhythm of atatcking and 'inability' to somehow create shooting chances at the edge or just outside of the box without a line of defenders getting in the way - unlike when opposing teams seem to manage at will against us.
  15. Gav - I have heard about this before - seem to remeber something similar happened with MU fans as well the other year in Italy.
  16. Fall asleep on the train again Glenn?
  17. Think most people do 1864 especially those who have been to the Euro away games before, but still think people need to complain otherwise nothing may get done. It can't be the first time Feyernoord have had to deal with a large group of away fans and they knew in advance how many where going so the police and respective authorities had plenty info regarding what to expect. Unfortuantely I didn't go to this one, however if it hadn't been Rovers it could have been far more messier from what people are saying StuWilky is probably correct saying to contact John Newsham - however it didnt' appear to do any good after the incidents inside the ground in Sofia.
  18. Think those people who are casting it off as a 'no worry' situation are burying their heads a bit. Firstly, most if not all are expecting those injured to come back and just automatically slip back into the team no problem ... and we all know it doesn't work like that. Secondly ... if we are playing well now ( and not getting the results) .. what happens when we hit bad form? Think the EURO form is glossing over the problem somehwat .. there is no doubt the injury problems have not helped but we have a major problem up front at the moment. Worry might be too strong a word at this stage of the season and at this moment I don't feel that we will end up in the relegation dogfight , however certain aspects of our game are of a concern that need sorting before it becomes inevitable that we do - especially up front which a few people have commented upon.
  19. not according to Sparky and Savage we didn't - we went to win. This is my point of worry as IMO we sure didn't apply ourselves to do that except for the first 20 mins.
  20. Gav - nice to know you are in one piece and what sound like another excellent Euro trip Honestly, it didn't come over that way on TV - look at all the other comments on here. Suppose its the usual you only get the true reflective by being there, or TV tends to highlight things more. Anyway - did they put a shelf up for you. Have a safe journey home
  21. This is what I was getting to - people on here seem to automatically think he will be coming back. Seems to be a long time for what would appear to be a relatively minor diagnosis of the injury.
  22. No, but I think it is for many naive people who think that was contact to warrant a penalty ( if it had been outside of the area this would not have been called as a foul) - inc the people who are supposed to apply the rules and regulate them. All part and parcel of what is wrong with the game - if you think there was contact to warrant a penalty never mind a foul then go and be a ref - think you'll find that most people are disagreeing with your interpretation, and not just Rovers fans. I'll say it again seeing as you missed reading before - if that was a penalty then every challenge in the penalty box should be called as a penalty. So who is finding it difficult now??
  23. Don't think questions need to be asked - Oojer is beginning to look class. My worry is about Nelsen's prolonged absence - will it affect him? If he comes back the same player - then it will look very promising at CB.
  24. After the last 5 games - I think its quite obvious we need another striker
