  1. Familiar to most away games in Europe Use your head be on your guard and don't wander off on your own. Just one point of mention - England play Holland a week before in Amsterdam - hoepfully without any problems.
  2. mmmm .... possibly the one I mentioned above that I couldn't remember the name of then- could possibly explain why I just had the recall of the big metal grasshopper in the middle of the roof
  3. Strange it was 3.60 euro the other week. Anyway if t/o queues, they have machines you can use for speed dotted about the place( they accept most cards) as cash was exact change only. As already mentioned trains are regular from the Airport to 'The Dam' and from there to Rotterdam. Where about's is this - seem to vaguely recall it for some reason
  4. Don't know if this counts , but asked a Bolton fan yesterday here at work re the ticket price before it was confirmed - he checked it out and said yes it definitely was. Guess what - there are now x10 of them going to the game that would otherwise not have been going. Now just need to recruit the Rovers fans
  5. Twas a good day (except for the match) - looks like our paths might have crossed
  6. For ease of memory 'The Old Sailor' in the the Red Light District is a decent one and easy to find - not far from Centraal Station either walking - 10-15 mins if that. Alternative - as you come out of Centraal Station and keep walking straight down 'Damrak' traversing the canal past all the 'tourist' boats and turn left there is a pub overlooking the canal - can't remember what it is called though and is a tad expensive for drinks and does food - not far from Tris's hangout for the duration the Ibis Hotel - there is also Teasers not far away either
  7. Impressive ground that it is though , the acoustics are not vey good so don't know what effect this would have on the atmosphere regardless of who is playing there in the Final
  8. Doubt Saprky or the Club would stand in his way if he wants to go - probably a mutual agreement would be reached. Question is - would he go?
  9. As per my previous post - on Radio Lancs last week he said (don't quote me but words to the effect) aside from the financial gains its about the raising of the the clubs profile in Europe and they are committed to it.
  10. So what was JW going on about then Lee?
  11. Not in a minority camp here more sitiing on the fence , but this is what I have been referring to re the showboating etc. in the Euro game and against Wigan (also Portsmouth). Its good that we are creaitng the chances but we need to me more ruthless if we want to progress further than where we are at the moment -especially Benni.
  12. Not sure on that but I remember seeing a program re the hooligan problem in Holland and at a Rotterdam game - and there where definitely fans with Rovers gear on them - strange
  13. Where you in that Jack Daniels (?) pub before the game - the one where the Celtic fans came in.
  14. Why? - looks similar to us though with what looks likethe harder games away from home Anyway here ya go FIXTURES
  15. GROUP H NEWCASTLE Celta Vigo Palermo Fenerbahce Eintracht Frankfurt Group of death
  16. According to JW interview on Radio Lancs last week they will make money but can't remember how much (corporate, advertising, dependent on who we draw etc) -but he made it known its not about the money but about the prestige and raising Rovers Profile given the history in Europe and how as a club they are committed to going as far as possible.
  17. I wouldn't FR but that's just me - I live in Wigan now, and I know its not quite the same but I would never consider going to watch them turning your post on its head as I understand your predicament but not the reasoning in terms of 'supporting' - what would happen if these teams you secondly support played ROVERS in a meaningful or any game for that matter? This is the million dollar question, which those such as myself can't understand - difficult for me as I have not been in the position you find yourself in so I can only summise and go with what I feel, as I suppose others who question such as yourself also do. I have no doubt it would be the Rovers for you, however this might have something to do with me being 'old school' but I still can't get into this my 1st team is ???, my 2nd team is xx etc. As MB posted this is what is grating about Jan - and she/he still hasn't answered what I keep asking - Rovers or Celtic? At least you don't bang on about it Fair enough going to watch another game etc but supporting another team?
  18. Make your mind up ER - you posted the defence are gelling on the Tugay thread. Been on the juice or something
  19. Yep, the green hooped one!! Neither did I. Maybe they could try it for the Chelsea cup game, as I suspect the whole crowd situation will raise its ugly head again.
  20. --> QUOTE(Ste B @ Oct 1 2006, 15:44 ) 449322[/snapback] i'm pretty sure that the computer draw only actually takes into account the fixture conditions - ie no team from the arctic circle playing at home in december, and is structured to enable the top 2 seeded groups to have a home game as the last game. Resulting in as you say us playing somebody from pots 1 and 3 In other words .... its fixed
  21. Totally agree Paul - especially nowadays with it being a 'squad' game that they all keep mentioning. Well, living in Wigan made the victory all that much sweeter especially after the atrocious start, which is what worries me as Hughesy said there would be no repeat of the Citeh game - how wrong he was , but whatever he does at halftime it certainly works... Anyway, the first goal to me all started with the lazy pass by MGP literally moments before their goal and then his feeble attempt at a tackle before the cross OOJER - not convinced at all with this guy, and as already mentioned by TND think he is a liability. McCarthy - nice to see him playing further forward unlike in the Europen game (possibly because Jeffers was doing all the running -especially in th 2nd half when he definitely found his feet) -personally I would have taken him off instead of Jeffers due to is misses - hopefully it was just an off day and his finishing will improve. Jeffers - as above thought he had an excellent game once he found his feet - a bit of drive at last when attacking with the ball. Bert - worthy of mention again (yes from me) - what a transformation - why couldn't this have been seen before. Brown - how confident is this guy Neill - Have to agree with the decision for his MOM. The Officials - Officially awful - don't care if the goal was offside or not the amount of decisions they gave against us, even though they where bad for both teams. Strange that again there are questions about a dodgey goal - remember last season. A good win - but the cracks are still there so lets not hide away from them - we played into the hands of Wigan in the 1st half in that they more or less dictated the pace and momentum of the game, however we could still easily have gone into the break in the lead with the chances that fell our way. This is what brings me back to the showboating I mentioned in the midweek game - lets not mess about and go for the jugular -goals breed more confidence and we need to improve ours dramatically. Heskey - what has he got against us?
  22. Ok congrats to the lad but I am probably going to annoy some people now. Got to agree with Philipl on the fluidity -lets hope the gelling is starting to set in. Maybe its only early days or just me , but I am still not impressed with McCarthy and his how I can only decribe as nochalant laid back strut style of play. Fair do's he worked hard but he is not an friggin midfielder , he drops too far IMO and would not have scored that goal in the Premiership. He might have scored a few goals but I think he could have scored more by now and I expect more from him. Thought Nonda worked his socks off - but please can they both stop showboating and just be more direct - really annoyed me in the last 10 mins when we could have gone for the jugular and crucified them with more goals. There whinge over ... Good win - decent crowd for a Thursday considering our recent numbers (still think more should have turned up though at £15) Oojer getting better - anybody else think is style is very similar to Todd Kish - had a good a game as I have seen from him for a while. Neil - Also had a good game - starting to show his commitment again? Emerton - listen /read .... everybody my .. yes my MOM. MGP - better than recently - is he back to form. Savage & Tugs - Savage not my favourite player but thought these two controlled the game. Bentley - except for his goal - personally I thought he had a poor game. Friedal - Did what he had to do So we are through - Excellent - just a shame I don't have any holidays left to make it a European Jaunt Once again weel done to the SPARKY and the team. BTW - Don't know if should go again as Bob Fleming decided to take the ###### out of me all night
  23. There's your answer Roversmum its been done to death before on here - and personally I'm not into all this multi club fans business whcih woul appear to be the same for others
  24. According to JW last night on Radio Lancs they where hoping for 20k with tickets sales just short of 17k at the time of the interview yesterday (presumably this includes the s/t holders all turning up). Anyway for the first time this season I feel confident - but giving our inability to score in previous attempts in Europe I feel it could be a nail biter. 3 V 1 After going a goal down. Lets get it ROCKING!!! COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
