  1. had too many that day myself also - been on a bender night before at Peps and continued the day after Indeed due to the building work we where in our BB End seats in the Darwen End and managed to find myself flying past Bob Fleming when Shearer scored. Don't know if anybody can remember in the Darwen End but one of the lads who used to come on with us ( no idea where he is nowadays) was absolutely blotto'd on wacky baccy and booze and was literally crawling up one set of the steps after Shearer scored as he ran down to the front then his legs just gave way. Not sure if this is when we played Southampton not so long afterwards as I had bought tickets for the away game and lost them inside the ground -but that could have been another match - found them later but that's another story.
  2. They where comparing the two forwards to see what they did in the game - which as we all know McCarthy did bugger all (as mentioned on another thread neither did DERBS but at least he tried) and has done for the last two months IMO. It would appear some are closing their eyes - yes he has scored goals and some cracking ones, but don't be blind to his poor performances which are not one offs - as mentioned he has the talent and the aptitude and should be able to show it on a more consistent basis which is what he hasn't and that is what is so annoying. I think its what is called as a kick up they arse (remember the Arse (sorry) game and goal)?
  3. Don't think anybody has mentioned anything about them wanting him to track back or run 6 miles , but I think they would like him to look, like he is at least interested by closing players downa and challenging for headers. News of the World commented upon him at Tevez at the weekend about how Tevez tried to get involved and create things and referred back to Gary Lineker running six miles during matches - what they said about McCarthy was he was lucky if he ran 2 miles and his performance bordered on being absolutely lazy. So not just some people on here - he has the talent which is why people probably get angry and for the last two months his performance have bordered on on what the NOTW described
  4. Oh I remember it ... questions as to why so few Charlton fans, crap match but atmosphere was excellent especially when they paraded the cup at the end. The difference between one step to another on the terrace especially higher up towards the back and when we scored a number of supporters went literally from top to bottom. Another one I have the video for somewhere as OJ comments on - those where the days of Skol.
  5. Not anymore Blakey - used to go to a majority each season. Went to Portsmouth the opening game (first time been seeing as how many times we have played them) and Everton away in the cup (£20 ticket). Last Season Wigan and Citeh. If I didn't have my season ticket - I wouldn't pay it at Ewood either. Mostly down to principle but some because I simply cannot afford it anymore ie I am now married and have a little boy and don't have the funds to justify spending it on Football.
  6. More willing than me Abbey - £20 is my limit unless a one off - there are far better away games to go to than MU IMO
  7. And typically also incredibly bad finishing by the Rovers .. coming back to what I always say about us making opposition keepers look good (has always been a habit of ours) although he did net well that day.
  8. Not if a secret Bellamy deal has been done again ie Sparky - 'quick word in yer ear Craig mate'
  9. Agree on one respect MB but to me and think they are fairly similar, except that Bellamy used to do alot more running and start and finish a move. McCarthy is a better header but far more lazy yet has what I would call an eye for goal more than Bellamy. One thing is for sure, yet again though I thought he was very poor again yesterday and does blow far too hot and cold for my liking.
  10. Ok managed to get down and have a chat with the ow'der one last night... would appear he has a Fan Club now especially made up from those that went via Amsterdam to Feynenoord. Anyway, he is still resident until told to do one by the club, even though I will be having another word about the barracking of the keeper at goalkicks. As for those who haven't shown face to chat to him then you only have yourself to blame - as he says those who don't like it give him your side (amicably) However, thought they did ok last night (maybe because most of the crowd seemed up for it) and he managed to beak the skin on the drum. So there you have it folks
  11. Ok dependent upon what time I get on if at all tonight than I will attempt to have a chat with our resident DJ. If not somebody else can step in if they like, as because of the movement of the game I can't make it Sunday
  12. Wasn't this the one where the highlghts where shown on the Sunday on Granada (when it used to be on) - then used in the opening highlights when the programme was on for other games?
  13. And in true FA fashion JEWELL HIT WITH FA CHARGE
  14. Colin this is the point I was referring to above - IMO The problem is the refs do not give the decisions as they see them. There is too much off the field activity in my book and again I refer to question i have raised above. Welshrover states what we all know - FR backs him and TND ( at last TND not just about the money ) confirms another reason why people are turning their back on the game. Interesting comment , from Jewell and Hughes last night on the radio - Jewell commented about refs being professional saying they weren't professional as 'professionals' are supposedly good at what they do. Hughes comments where in a way supporting the outburst of Jewel in stating that there should be a medium where managers could vent their feelings and have them heard as it is a highly emotional game and the refs decisions could/are costing people jobs.
  15. I'm not ... not totally anyway - maybe for goals and possibly 'off the ball incidents or a penalties but that would be about it for me. I don't think the refs are bias towards any team really- I just think they are all bad and have no 'authority' to control a game and go off what they actually see rather than what they think they see 'ie their mind is already made up before thinking about something than what they have seen. My reasoning for this is because of the way the rules are interpreted - (why can't they be black and white and who dictates the intepretation?) and the powers that be that enforce and run the rule over the refs with the monitoring of the performances. I might be wrong on this, but can anybody recall somebody coming out and saying a decision was wrong (not a ref)? So bearing this in mind who would suggest a video replay being used (ref? - what if he feels he was right and if not what is the point of the ref) Yes odd times refs have done it, which is fair enough and what people want to hear but I still feel this is major part of what is wrong - refs will never call any incident right all of the time and will always make mistakes, however there are times when it is blatantly obvious even from where a ref or assistant is positioned yet they still get it wrong.
  16. This to me says it all really - as a referee (or official) the guy is totally inept and useless as with many others. Watched this with Wigan fans in a pub yesterday and their reactions of disgust where more of its expected rather than total damnation. The thing is we should be bothered about this , as we should if it was anybody as this could easily have been us and as Aggy posted has been us on many a occasion this season. Top it all off for Wigan , looks like jewell is going to get it in the neck now as well for his comments - when all he has done is stated the bloody obvious that everybody can see bar the officials and those that monitor them.
  17. Mmmm ...Abbey didn't you post you didn't get that job in Liverpool
  18. Leaf it to me Abbey , as a corn understand what is is yew on a bout
  19. The funny thing (or maybe not) is to resolve the situation they would probably cut the tree down first
  20. Well folks did anybody see him? - I saw the two young lads but I was later getting on today and went looking for him but didn't see him so looks like it will have to be the Pompey game.
  21. I'm on it MR -just don't blame me for the mess As mentioned I will go and have another chat with him on Saturday.
  22. Didn't mean it in that respect Den - just wanted to highlight to others the fact you have raised and that he is amicable about it and willing to listen to people's opinions. As with Abbey , I am against the drums which is what I tried in a (presumably drunken stumble) explain to him. However, I have tried to highlight the fact and will go and have another chat with him at Saturday's game but if he wants to continue its his choice until the club bans the drum or he chooses to give up or gets bored. Anyway to start , can everybody stop singing that ferkin embarrassment of chants 'gerrr int to em' and the' easy easy easy kid hand slapping' ball sacks.
  23. oK ok ok - meant to post this last week but totally forgot. Bumped into our infamous drummer (the main one) the other Friday at Whittakers in Accy so decided to have a little chat with him. now before I start for those who don't know the guy (I knew of him but not really know him if you get my meaning) at the end of the day he is a decent bloke and a Rovers fan to heart ( he has been watching them for years) who feels he is doing his best for the club - I explained the discussion that has been going on on here and the relevant liners that people including myself would like to do with his drumsticks and said I would relay it back on here Now from my drunken depths of memory from what I can recall ... is that as of yet he has not been told to stop and does get alot of backing for the cause. After a long discussion from what I can remember -more pints later he said he would reconsider hanging up the drum if people really started to express a real no no against it but at the end of day he still feels he is doing something worthy for the Rovers cause. Anyway he did say he would stop the banging at the back of the keeper (and also have a word with the others not to do it) when they are taking a goalkick after I said how embarrassing it actually is. So lets see what happens - and if anybody has any qualms against him , go and have a chat with him and let him know - in an amicable manner please ... because I have said he is really a decent guy.
  24. The irony in it to me though is can anybody remember the last time Neill missed a game for us because of injury?
  25. Sorry Den, didn't make it clear.... I thought this was your point here in a sort of snap your fingers sort of way (if you get my drift) and writing off the reasons that people had already posted.
