  1. Didn't mean it in that respect Den - just wanted to highlight to others the fact you have raised and that he is amicable about it and willing to listen to people's opinions. As with Abbey , I am against the drums which is what I tried in a (presumably drunken stumble) explain to him. However, I have tried to highlight the fact and will go and have another chat with him at Saturday's game but if he wants to continue its his choice until the club bans the drum or he chooses to give up or gets bored. Anyway to start , can everybody stop singing that ferkin embarrassment of chants 'gerrr int to em' and the' easy easy easy kid hand slapping' ball sacks.
  2. oK ok ok - meant to post this last week but totally forgot. Bumped into our infamous drummer (the main one) the other Friday at Whittakers in Accy so decided to have a little chat with him. now before I start for those who don't know the guy (I knew of him but not really know him if you get my meaning) at the end of the day he is a decent bloke and a Rovers fan to heart ( he has been watching them for years) who feels he is doing his best for the club - I explained the discussion that has been going on on here and the relevant liners that people including myself would like to do with his drumsticks and said I would relay it back on here Now from my drunken depths of memory from what I can recall ... is that as of yet he has not been told to stop and does get alot of backing for the cause. After a long discussion from what I can remember -more pints later he said he would reconsider hanging up the drum if people really started to express a real no no against it but at the end of day he still feels he is doing something worthy for the Rovers cause. Anyway he did say he would stop the banging at the back of the keeper (and also have a word with the others not to do it) when they are taking a goalkick after I said how embarrassing it actually is. So lets see what happens - and if anybody has any qualms against him , go and have a chat with him and let him know - in an amicable manner please ... because I have said he is really a decent guy.
  3. The irony in it to me though is can anybody remember the last time Neill missed a game for us because of injury?
  4. Sorry Den, didn't make it clear.... I thought this was your point here in a sort of snap your fingers sort of way (if you get my drift) and writing off the reasons that people had already posted.
  5. I have to slightly disagree on that Den - there are alot of valid points made in the threads and as mentioned its not all about the money /prices etc even though that is probably the majority issue. Maybe by doing what you suggest would bring everything else into line but I feel its bit naive in thinking that, but thats just mine and your own opinions. The thread above from Jordan is probably the best I can go to explaining football from my own point of view simple but sort of too the point (and should be points and not pints) of what it should all be about. Obviously it might not be the same for everybody but I am sure it will be /or used to be for a lot of fans
  6. Thing is its more than likely that Tugay will have to start most games now, which in my book is exactly what should happen anyway. Friedal is another obvious choice but I'm a bit against giving it to goalies as it needs to be somebody out in the play of the game ie be able to make an influence across the pitch. So if not Tugay, forget Bert , the alternative would have to be a centre back if playing (Zurab/Todd/Henchoz)
  7. Weren't you on with us that day yb? Pandemonium when it finally went in - I too have it somewhere on video
  8. Or mellowing and conforming to our way of thinking .....finally
  9. Rev as you are aware we tend to see things from the same perspective, but I have to agree with Scotty here and as per others cannot see how Neill has been poor. In fact for a guy that seemingly wants to leave for ' a challenge' he has done alright for me and has arguably been our best defender. Yes he makes mistakes and has conceded alot of penalties but I haven't seen anything to make me think he has not been commited to the Rovers. He does seem to think he is better than he actually is, but for us he could prove to be a big loss when he eventually does leave - if at all, but if he does I wish him well and thank him for his time at the Rovers. As I have said before, if a player does not want to play for a club anymore they should let them go, but there appears to be more to this scenario and as previously posted it all appears a bit 'Miss Marple'. Overall I think the issue of him being Captain (not his fault) and his reaction in the Euro game is clouding the judgements of some people.
  10. Wrong TND - we don't know they offered more for his services, and from all accounts Rovers offered him an even better one to his exisitng one And according to himself he wants a new challenge so this shouldn't even be an issue - which is what alot are posting about- he is going for the money However I do agree - what is the big issue - as per many, not my favourite but Thanks Lucas you did ok for us shame it looks like it has to end in a Miss Marple sort of way.
  11. premier windfall So what do ya reckon - some used to offset the dwindling numbers at games ...?? Probably not
  12. Well moving on another possible gate affector - don't think this has been posted anywhere For all you 5.15 lovers - WHAM game now moved for PPV WHAM KO TIME MOVED
  13. I think this used to be the case for alot of us Jordan - except it was two points and three cans of Tennants Super/Thwaites bitter or Skol
  14. Funnily enough FR, in Derbishire I see similar attributes to the younger and old Gallacher maybe however with bit more pace
  15. Sorry Rev but for the first time ( I think ) have to agree with Theno again!! (omg ) on this but I do agree on video evidence not being the complete answer though.
  16. Can't see anything other than a defeat Elm Parkers 1 v Rovers 0
  17. Bloody Hell TND I agree whole heartedly Was mentioning this before the Nancy game - my view is that the officials are looking for something that is not there rather than refereeing to what they actually see ie oh, there is one man on the floor and another still running so there must have been a foul etc. This may not be the refs or linemans fault though - moreso the watching eyes putting the pressure on that they MUST make a decision regardless.
  18. Totally agree AESF. Going back to last night , Neill shouldn't have done what he did but its was understandable given the booing on Saturday - however, as what has already been said he should not be Captain and Hughes has directly exacebated the situation as a result in doing so. Lay off the newcomers give them a chance, the one I thought was awful last night was Mokoena. Personally as we won I would start with the same line up on Saturday, then we might see what the players are made of.
  19. Reports would suggest they are an 'underate at your peril' team and their home form is quite impressive. However, add to the fact they appear to adopt a different strategy away we shoudl be going all guns for them.... but as always there is always a but. We are absolutely crap at the moment, Hughes is suggesting players will be rested and when I always predict a win we lose. So even though I think we will win 2 v1 I am saying we will get beat 2 v 0
  20. I don't think you will realise Paul how close you are to predicting the reaction here until tonight , if the responses I was getting underneath on Saturday before I left are anuthing to go by ( how many people where there down there!!) and that includes from ones who already had tickets.... then you could well be getting a call from Mystic Meg. Theno - I don't know if you are deliberately misreading or can't fathom what people are saying, but your responses would deem that you seem to think its all down to cost (including LANCASHIRE BLOODY UTD!! )
  21. Obviously taken no notice of my posts in the Newcastle thread then The Officiating - its either that or I am just a stuck in the mud hankering for football when it was footbal - which is not too far in the past.
  22. Agree FLB, however pricing the Liverpool game will not endear anybody. As I have said before , its all after the horse has bolted, the price plays some part but there is alot more to consider. The fans have already left and sporadic cheap prices are not going to bring them back overnight - the enjoyment, the matchday experience etc has been lost for want of alot of things happening in the game, and what happened Saturday is just a typical example.... I'll be there tomorrow and although away games, after what happened last Saturday I will now not be going to Reading , and I won't be at Wigan either due to the ticket prices even though I now live there.
  23. How many does it have to be seen OR? If you are taking that as an example then every incident would have to be viewed and different speeds etc. The decision on Saturday was just total bollux and to top it off Henchoz won the header first anyway - if players are getting sent off for that and this is what football is coming to then they can stick it up their arse and get ready for even more mass exodus. Not a conspiracy because we are too good (which we are not) but as I have said on another thread , somebody does not want lil'old Blackburn in the Premier League.
  24. Totally Tot agree TND. Too many rules 'interpreted' in my book. Black and white, black and white, black and white. What really annoye me more though is there are ruling bodies that govern the numpties in the middle - there is so much outrage about what is what etc yet nothing seems to be done about anything for the better except the constant harping on about `bloody video cameras'. What has happened to good old common sense and reading of a game ffs? Most in the game know what a genuine tackle is etc but more importance seems to be given up to stupid decisions like taking your shirt off yet and what could have happened instead of what has happened. If All of it is really getting me to the end of my tether and my enjoyment of the game is fast deteriorating much the same as alot who don't go watching anymore. Players managers and refs and their governing bodies all have a part to play it getting this sorted - by this I mean managers punishng players , players getting back to concentrating on football rather than playacting and cheating, berating refs... - refs to question the stupid rulings and black and white areas etc. If Henchoz was a sending off - why wasn't Lehman for Arsenal or in fact both of em especially the shennanigans that went on yesterday. All of it is spoiling the game - most of it down to money. Also with Abbey on this , there is a conspiracy somebody does not want lil'old Blackburn in the Premier League (Media)
  25. If not the players then the Fans certainly do!! Still not taken in by the performance in the 2nd half as this is what should have been happening in the 1st half especially after the performance defeat at Charlton. The annoying aspect of it all is, that regardless of the 2nd half we where still the better team in the first half yet we end up conceeding two sloppy goals and against poor opposition yet again and the geordies for the 2nd year running scored x3 at our place.
