  1. The Latvia v Germany match was very entertaining. Thought Mike Riley was poor though. Latvia probably deserved more than a draw from the game. Can't wait to hear what the German press have to say after they called the players "cucumbers" after their defeat in a friendly to Romania recently! It was nice to see some England, France and Sweden fans all supporting Latvia! P.S. Watkinson out!!!
  2. Interesting..... 1. PNE sales are up - they have been awful this season (i know, i have paid to watch them, though I did negotiate some of my money back!) and 2. They are offering Under 8s season tickets, while Rovers are withdrawing theirs. If there is eveidence the two are linked I think that should be passed on to our club. Not sure it was dramatically increase our attendances, but it can only help.
  3. That is a very good point! There are a lot of people even in this country who don't know where Blackburn is, but they have heard of the Rovers. I have travelled a fair amount overseas and when people ask where you are from they do say, "Blackburn? Oh yes, Blackburn Rovers!". Ok, well they dont all say that, but the people who have heard of Blackburn only have done so because of our football team. I have never told someone I'm from Blackburn and then heard, "Oh, that's the place that won joint council of the year", or, "Isn't that Jack Staw's constituency?", or, "That's where Thwaites' Bitter is from".....etc. Outside of East Lancashire, Blackburn is Blackburn Rovers.
  4. Just out of interest, did you ask the person who cited £10 tickets as their reason for not renewing how many £10 matches there were last season?! I think they will be very surprised with the answer! The club have got themselves in a difficult position because there is a percieved view of reduced tickets being reguarly available, which they are not. I would warn anyone who is considering not renewing soley because of the £10 tickets. We dont know how matches matches will be like that this season, but if it is like last season, it wont be very many (certainly wont save you money over a season ticket!!)
  5. My renewal pack came in the post this morning, but my Dad's hasn't arrived yet. It looks like they have tried to personalise he letter and the application form, so I guess that will take a little more time. The application form states the type of season ticket you are entitled too and how much it will be if you dont want to move seats. My letter also said about changing from a Young Adult to "fully-fledged Adult".
  6. Nice to see the BBC have fully understood Rovers' situation. I like their accurate approach to reporting. "Souness intends to use Dickov as a striker partner for Jon Stead in place of the out-of-favour Andy Cole."
  7. You obviously can't criticise Souness for the signing of Stead, but does anyone else agree that Souness just got very very lucky with it? I think it was more of a lucky signing than an inspired/asutue buy.
  8. My point is > to reserve your seat you have to return your application by the 19th June. Yet they havent sent the application pack out yet. I didnt realise that date had been announced. Where has that officially come from? Why would the club put that date out if they knew they werent going to get the renewal packs out in time?! Just spotted the date on the back of the postcard (10.45 is early for our postman!!). Strange that they put 'the application pack will be out soon, but if you cant wait call the ticket office now!' That looks like either, there is a problem at their end with getting stuff ready, or they are responding to people panicking.

  10. That's a good point Nuclearsox! I am not bothered how soon they get them out, so I cant understand what people are making a fuss about. But, if we are getting the new system then it seems silly to have competed application forms hanging about Ewood while they wait for the new system to be ready so they can process them. I am sure people would be more upset if the club took your money, then you didnt get your new card or whatever for a month or two.
  11. I am gutted that yesterday's result cost us over £1 million!!! I know everyone is in 'oh well we stayed up' mode, but I cant forget how poor this season has been. I am not going to start 'Souness Out' rants, but there are still questions I have about his managerial technique and team selections. Case in point again yesterday - we finally have a left winger fit and starting a match, so Souness plays him at right-back!! Reid did ok, and Douglas has played on the left a lot, but I'd rather have only one player out of position instead of two. I am very worried about next season already.
  12. Yeah it was an interesting interview with Coley on RR. Not sure what to make of what he said.
  13. Maybe we could arrange something like this to add a bit of humour at the end of the game. Better still, i'll have a word with Graham Liver and see if we can get a live feed from the Reebok to Ewood! Allardyce kisses ass...
  14. Irony Bob?? Everyone has called Ewood that this season - especially all the Man U fans.
  15. Oops forgot to post this earlier - sorry SAR!!! Rovers 4 - Brum 3
  16. That one is classic!! You should send the club a copy of the one so they can forward it to him!
  17. You won't be saying that after they've had your eye out with the inflatable banana... That happened to me at Slane last summer. Got hit in the eye with an inflatable chair - should really have seen it flying towards me! Be careful lads! Inflatables can be dangerous!
  18. Least he came out of his battle with Souness with all limbs and facial feature intact. That's more than most do!
  19. Presume 7x Cat C, 6x Cat B, 6x Cat A. Cat c = £23, Cat B = £25, Cat C = £28 Total Match Day price = £479. Season Ticket is £415 this time I think.... Minus from the 479 the discounts available from the card - make this 3 lots of 5 stickers savings you sixty quid = saving of £4!! But the above is based on presumptions, I have no idea how many of each Catergory games there is, nor does it include the £1 booking fee for over the phone for each ticket, each game, nor does it include all but guaranteed away tickets, nor the discount on club merchandise. You mean 15 X £5 = £75 4 X £28 = £102 Total £177 Season ticket £400 ish ?? This is Williams/Rovers problem next season. One of their own making. Where have you got those figures from Blueboy?!?!?! where is my name mentiond in the above post???? ROVERS FOREVER Ooooppppssss! Sorry Blueboy! Too busy looking at avatars than ready who wrote the post! So, Duncan...where do you get those figures from?

  21. I hope I am ok to say this, it is straight from JW's mouth... The reason Rovers don't include cup tickets in the season ticket package is because they could lose an awful lot of money. The ticket sales from cup matches belong to the FA (just considering the FA Cup) and the money is divided between the FA and the 2 clubs. Firstly we dont know how many home cup matches we would get due to the nature of the draw. If the club included say the first FA Cup match in the season ticket then Rovers would effectively be paying for all season ticket holders to watch this match (I know you have said a slight price increase, but I dont think the club would do that or that £10 would be sufficient). If Rovers drew a home ties against, say Rotherham, then you wouldnt expect a big gate and the money would split between the FA and the 2 clubs. Rovers (hopefully!!) would have more season ticket holders than the number Rotherham fans than travel to the match, but the gate money is divided equally between the clubs, therefore Rovers will effectively be giving money to Rotherham!! Maybe they could live with giving Rotherham a few quid, but imagine the situation if we drew Man Utd at home!!! ROVERS WOULD HAVE TO GIVE MONEY TO MAN UTD!!! This would be money directly from the club that could be spent on transfers etc. I hope that makes some sense and if I have got any of it wrong please correct me, but basically there is no way the club can include cup tickets with the season ticket.
  22. I'm not going to say sack Souness, but anyone who wants to offer Tugay a new contract needs at least their eyesight testing, if not their head reading! He is casuing more problems for us than he is for the opposition. I was very releaved to hear his new contract depends on what happens the rest of this season. I guess John Williams saw sense and leaned on Souness to try and save the club from wasting more money.
  23. And it is "there's an alehouse in Burnley", not pub down in. Apart from that - spot on mate!
  24. Those aren't the words I sing! Isnt it: "Forever and ever, we'll follow our team...."
