Cringiest moments in Rovers history?
booth replied to Amo's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The entire Kean/Anderson/Shebby mess. -
I think there comes a time when keeping a manager is just as damaging as making a bad appointment and now is that time. So I'd be happy to risk the alternative right now.

Huddersfield - Saturday Lunch for Sky

I can sum up the game in three similar sentences. WTF was the ref doing? WTF was Walton doing? WTF was Mowbray doing? -

They equalize, Mowbray brings best player off, classic. -

Aye, we've gone full Mowbray. -
Preston have a chip on their should because they're used to looking up at every other local team in bitter envy, but other clubs fans look at them in indifference. Must be crap that this is their brightest ever spell in their existence.
-
Yes, because... No adults are ever stupid. No adults have ever acted like kids. No one has ever made the same mistake twice. Footballers don't need to be taught. Welcome to Chaddy's psychology hour.
-
Probably one of the more depressing sentences I've read on this site. How we continue to fall.
-
Some Preston fan wrote that. His more ignorant comments aside, it goes to show that most people outside of Rovers fanbase (and a lot within it I'd say) don't quite understand it's not that we see it "as a right" it's more that we need to get promoted to wipe out the shit-ton of debt that Kean and co left us in, or one day we could be truly f*cked.
-
He thought that his strategy would work and Gallagher would score more goals. Just like he thought spending a lot of money on Ben Brereton was a good idea the year before.
-
Between Pearson and Hughton for me. I picked Pearson as I feel the team needs a bollocking. I'd pick most on that list other than Mowbray. If we're going for a Venky out of leftfield special, Gareth Ainsworth.
-
Me too, his transfer strategy has been woefully laid back. Like someone who thinks they are immune from the chop.
-
And this is where we're going to pay the price for Mowbray's lack of transfer activity regarding defenders. It's not going to be pretty with that defense.
-
We sold him for more or the same amount of money as we signed him for.
-
So you're not aware of the mounting debt then that can only be wiped out by Venky's writing it off or us being promoted? If we weren't spending money I'd be inclined to agree that we should be happy to be a mid-table championship team, but Venky's obviously want promotion. If that's the case we need a manager who can do that. Mowbray doesn't look like the man for the job. He may surprise me but then he's wasted a lot of good money on not very good players, whereas he was quite frugal in League 1. In the Championship he's spent a lot of money on players that won't get us promoted or even get us into the play off positions which is a big problem. He's also continually playing players in the wrong position and dropping players who have previously done well which can't be good for morale. I can see how some worry about another Coyle being appointed but at the moment it feels like we aren't too far away from the Coyle days. The Mowbray of League 1 seems a different manager to the one we have in the Championship. If we start going backwards it won't be long before we're back in L1.
-
Probably the worst time ever to play Preston.
-
Ainsworth or Pearson for me. It'd be nice if Mowbray could turn it around but players playing out of position combined with him wasting money on strikers that can't score makes me wonder if he was ever in possession of a plot, never mind lost it.
-
And paid for himself.

Which day?

January transfer window 2020

He doesn't need a striker, he needs to buy three. Two for him to muck about with in the reserves/bench/out of position, scoring feck all and one to play every week and score 15-20 goals. -
We'd need automatic promotion under Mowbray as we can't string 2 wins together, we'd have no chance in the play offs. We won't get automatic promotion because we can't string 2 wins together.
-
21 shots, 6 on target. Similar to weekend. Stating the obvious but we need a striker.
-
I don't think that will be a question that crosses their minds. They'll just find another manager who will take the job, throw £10-20m at him over 3 or 4 seasons and hope he does better. And hope one of the young starlets nets big transfer money to make some back. That appears to be the business model in play here.
-
I have a feeling Mowbray will get sacked at the end of the season if he's not near the play-offs and I can't see him managing top half personally. They haven't a clue about football but they won't be happy about him wasting that amount of money not once, but twice.
