  1. With the current squad we have some very inconsistent players capable of playing well now and again, combined with some decent players, kids still learning their trade, some awful players and a top scorer who is sleepwalking his way through every game. What sets us apart from other teams at the top is scoring goals and after the lack of investment over the last two or three years it's hardly surprising.
  2. It's a reason why we don't score so many goals though. We haven't signed a striker since Summer 2019.
  3. This is true, most people including myself thought we'd get beat by more than one goal tonight. Instead it took a cheating goalkeeper and inept officials to rob us of two points.
  4. Lost it in the debacle that was the January transfer window, we all knew it but we all thought there was a chance. Our inability to score goals was always going to bite us on the arse eventually.
  5. We can't kill teams off. Not enough firepower. Dolan was poor when he came on but he's not a centre forward, he should replace Brereton if any.
  6. Disgusting that, handball and if it wasn't handball it was a foul. That said, not one player was winning the ball in the air in the last 15 minutes. Coventry won everything.
  7. I'd have Dolan on instead of Brereton. Sorba for Hedges. Both players make room for others like Szmodics due constantly nagging at the oppo defence.
  8. Even when he's not playing well he makes space for the others. I don't understand why he's not in. Glad to see Wharton coming in and Morton out but unhappy to see Gallagher again. An absolute waste of space.
  9. If we had the quality of Newell and Speedie upfront I'd believe we could go up. Gallagher would struggle in League 2 and Brereton has gone backwards a few years. Which of our current players would get in the 91/92 team?
  10. There's no need to be deliberately obtuse about it, you must know you're going to get people's backs up. You know the history of the club and the years of disappointment. Most fans are conditioned to have a glass half empty. I believe in the manager and even my glass is quarter empty.
  11. I said unless you're trolling, I didn't say you were. It's telling how it hit a nerve about trolling but not about your ability to think though.
  12. With a modicum of brainpower, you may understand why. Come on Chaddy it's not beyond you, unless you're enjoying a good troll in which case, as you were.
  13. I didn't expect us to be this high up but there will be no apologising for the inept chancers behind the scenes.
  14. Looking at the teams directly below us and who they are playing, we probably will be.
  15. He was fucking terrible. Managed 9 goals at this level for us over two season, and before you say other players were ahead of him like Jansen and Bent, there was a big reason for that. Lazy, couldn't be arsed, plodded about. I remember his main contribution as coming on as a sub, then rugby tackling the oppo keeper while we scored. A big waste of money. When he played for Bolton I remember saying to the bloke next to me, what a donkey he is, he only goes at one pace. I'm glad we don't have to watch that every week. Then during Hodgson's nervous breakdown, he signed him for £4m.
  16. That's a hiding I'm not willing to set myself up for. So far Gregg's idea of a striker was George Hirst in his first transfer window and absolutely nobody in the second, despite being in an excellent league position at the time. There can be no excuses for the failure in January.
  17. I think it's guaranteed he'll bring in another donkey of a striker, a midfielder from somewhere, and some loans. A report last week said we were after a league 1 right back, which sounds the level of our ambition. Would be a bit baffling that one when we have other areas that are much more in need of strengthening.
  18. Down there with Ward, Blake, Davies, Dailley and the pointer sister.
  19. I think we were on the same amount of points at this stage last season, sitting in 8th but we'd played two more games.
  20. Don't do it to yourself, expect nothing and you won't be as disappointed.
  21. That's because the backing always falls short somewhere, no matter what.
  22. Despite all of the clubs failings, we'd be in the automatics. Gregg and co really fucked up.
  23. Unpopular opinion perhaps, but even if the manager had got the team selection right, we still wouldn't have scored if we'd played all night.
