I've seen Pickering play under two managers and he's been mostly terrible throughout his time here, whatever the tactics. Hyam unfit. JRC injured. Wharton injured. Carter injured. Brittain for me has given up trying. His cross into the box which ended up in the stand was a highlight. The defence was awful under Mowbray and they are awful now. Venkys blocking signings because they are too old won't help the cause. As was established earlier, we haven't signed a decent fullback under Venkys in over 10 years.

We are going up (the optimism thread)

https://www.besoccer.com/team/injuries-suspensions/blackburn-rovers-fc I've no idea how accurate that is but if we do have those players coming back between mid January and mid February, you'd hope some of them could make a difference. How's that for optimism? -

Pickering, an unfit Hyam, Hill and Brittain were/are a fucking hopeless defence. On paper and on the pitch. I wouldn't put Pickering and Brittain in a pub team, but at least Pickering tries (and scored a nice goal). Brittain was so poor both defending and going forward. When is JRC back? -
Glad to see him score tonight. Sunshine on a rainy day. Sadly he'll get sold at the end of the season and the squad will be dumbed down even more.

There'll be a change in league before there's a change in manager. -
Luton also spent years gradually building up to that point too. With two very good Championship strikers in their squad.

How do you get a defence right when you can't bring in any players and your decent ones are injured or unfit? He won't get sacked. The two seasons we ended up 15th under Mowbray tells you all you need to know. And he spent money!

Scoring the winner in the Burnley match at Ewood is the overriding memory of Chimbonda for a lot of people. -

Looked unfit to me in both games. -

I never rated Olsson but he seems a class above what we have now. He left a decade ago too. What is it with fullbacks since Venkys turned up? -

I don't rate Carter either but he has the odd solid game where he gets stuck in. Hyam is too quiet to be our only senior defender as well. Not signing Baath really hurt us, and I can't see how signing a 20 year old kid from L2 will bolster the defence. But I suppose he fulfills the Venky transfer policy of buying cheap young players who can hopefully pay the bills when sold. -

Currently third in the greek league I think, with Olympiacos. -

All I want these days is two decent fullbacks. I can't remember the last reliable fullback in a blue and white shirt. Can anyone else? -

I can't see a 20 year old from league 2 solving anything but checking a box for Madame D. -

I'd love Steve Cooper here, but he won't turn Pickering and Brittain into better defenders or turn our pound shop strikers into goal machines. -

That doesn't quite tell the whole story does it. We already struggled to score goals with Brereton and we've had a bit of luck with Szmodics stepping in. Combine that with the CEO announcing to everyone that the goal was to stay up and these results become acceptable and normal. -

You're aware we're potless and have owners that don't give a f***, right? -

Still a poor line up but at least I wouldn't have to watch Brittain phoning in his performance again. -

I think it was more of a brief prayer from Broughton, then he went to Borussia. -

We can't afford a striker but let's pay our current manager compensation and bring in Steve Cooper. -

If we're skipping through the realms of impossibility I'd prefer Farke.
