That *was* the January Window

I remember a Chelsea fan laughing when we signed Le Saux. “He’s facking awful.” -

No he really is. He's one of those hypocrite superfans who won’t criticise anything about the club but then says things like it’s decaying and no one would ever want to buy it. -

Since when has anything they've done made any sense? They wanted to sell him before the end of last season, with a view to a Summer sale. He rejected it on the grounds that he loves Rovers and wants to develop here. They then gave him a longer contract. Presumably if they couldn't cash in they wanted to tie him down. Palace come in in January and suprise everyone with a mega offer, they turn it down. Presumably because the penny has dropped that he's worth more than they originally thought so they are trying to squeeze every last penny out of them. If we've learned anything from them they are stupid and make silly decisions. Time will tell whether this is one of them. One thing that you aren't considering here is that in the corridors of power they aren't all on the same page. -

And say it’s a decaying club, but pray they stay. It got even more ridiculous and before I’d finished my reply I was doubting he was even a Rovers fan. -

I did but then he replied to someone else, and after reading it I realised he was a lost cause. So I deleted my reply. There are others with similar views but without the antagonism who I’d happily debate it with. Especially younger fans who may not know or remember when the club was ran properly. It seems to be the older fans who are defending Venkys. -

I’ve just had to block someone on Facebook. I was going to comment then quickly realised there was nothing separating them from the average Burnley fan. He’s replied several times to exasperated fans and he’s still going on. He calls it a decaying club then says pray they stay. -

I’m beginning to believe the rumours that they won’t sell because they don’t want anyone to see behind the curtain. -

I’ll be fair, they seem to be holding out for extra now, but that’s only after they’ve seen what PL clubs value him at. -

They were pushing him to go last season but he dug his heels in. He wanted to stay. Waggott wants to sell. He’s 19, has his family close and living his dream. However the money being offered for him to disappear to a far away land (aka Palace) is madness. If Rovers do sell for £20m it’s not because Waggott or the club held out. Thank Adam for that as he would have sold for a lot less in Summer. -

Some think that JDT has "sold" all the players that have gone out and been responsible for all the signings, so this wouldn't surprise me. I saw a bloke dissing him for signing Telalovic last week, saying this is the only type of player he can attract. -

I know it was a fact last season so I imagine you aren't far from the truth with your thoughts. -

It's going to happen, the lad will become a millionaire overnight, at 19. And if it does happen and we were running normally, we'd sign a prolific striker, a good midfielder and CB, and the best goalie any spare change will buy, and base the team around them with a view to a promotion push next season. Sell Gallagher, loan Ennis and use the money to bring in a good experienced forward to go alongside the striker. Let Leonard learn from them whilst being our super sub. Keep Szmodics. Sadly we aren't a normal club. -

Gilsenan is very good. He played well in the cup then was injured for a while. 1 min 22 in, nice free kick. Not so good celebration. Not the first time he's played well in the cup. -

If Wharton goes, it's reluctantly. He was getting a push by the club (not the coach) last season. -

If Palace are offering Sakyi on loan, plus £18m, plus add ons, I can't see us passing that up. Sakyi would liven up the attack and Broughton will be thinking job done on signing a goalscorer. It won't be as we'll still need a striker with or without. Then 6 months later we'll lose Sakyi and the £18m will have disappeared. Back to square one and without Wharton. The only good thing coming out of A Wharton going would be if we could put it towards a CB, LB, CM, winger and a quality striker (and a goalie if we can manage it). -

Didn't Glen M say that snowball victim Mr Desai was pretty much in charge over here now? Every morning he must shake his fist whilst thinking of that cold ice meeting his forehead. -

Oh there's a power struggle alright. You've got Waggot wanting one thing and Broughton/JDT wanting another. Then add Venkys and their underlings to the structure and it's totally dysfunctional. The season was still ongoing when the players discovered the cost cutting/generate cash through player sales. Which makes me think, why wasn't this kept from them? Some of them will have known that no matter how well they played they were being released. Some incentive. Some motivation. I suppose that's why I'm willing to cut JDT some slack more than most. When I see the players playing like they've only just met, I wonder how much of that is the club executives affecting game preparations. -

I can see Hodgson wanting to take him under his wing but it's a long way to go when Rovers have been your life since you were 6. Money talks as they say, he could be set for life. Such a shame all ambition has been stripped from BRFC. -

I'd be surprised if Carter isn't being touted too. I'm also surprised Gallagher hasn't already gone if anyone's interested, just to get him off the wage bill. -

Yes his family go to the games. I was sat next to their Grandma's early on last season. They seemed very nice, very proud and down to Earth. His family live locally so there's plenty of people that know them, and have known them before Adam and Scott got into the first team. And when they were both children. Just a shame club officials are pressuring a young lad who is happy where he is. In normal circumstances he'd have a chance to develop and chase promotion with us. Speaking of which, back when he "allegedly" said he didn't want to leave, promotion was the aim. But that's gone now. I can't see it being Palace though.
