  1. Gilmour is a fantastic guitarist, but I am with American on this. Waters songwriting (especially his lyrics) are vastly superior to anything Gilmour has done.
  2. Best intro Alternative Ulster by Stiff Little Fingers, Hanging Around by The Stranglers (Hammond Organ Flops!) or of course anything by Pearl Jam. Oh and just to add another Hammond Organ song, Riders on the Storm by The Doors.
  3. Another list for you. The Mercury Prize nominees announced today. So who has got any of these? Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Ballad Of The Broken Seas Editors - The Back Room Guillemots - Through The Windowpane Richard Hawley - Coles Corner Hot Chip - The Warning Girls Aloud - Black Holes And Revelations Zoe Rahman - Melting Pot Lou Rhodes - Beloved One Scritti Politti - White Bread, Black Beer Sway - This Is My Demo Thom Yorke - The Eraser
  4. Pearl Jam released 10 in 1991 and it became one of the best selling albums of all time. They followed this up with Vs, Vitalogy and No Code. All reached number 1 in the US. in fact Vs sold an incredible 1 million copies in its first week of sale. Oh by the way I am not doubting Nirvanas commericial success, or the influence they had and continue to have. Just their place in the early Seattle scene.
  5. True American. The "Seattle Scene" started with a band called Green River, who morphed into Mother Love Bone who then became Pearl Jam. Other notables around at the time were Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Mudhoney. Nirvana arrived very late onto an already burgeoning scene. It is a complete myth that they were early leading lights.
  6. According to todays Sunday Telegraph Lord Stevens has named five clubs who are at the centre of his bung report. The clubs are Man Utd, Newcastle, Middlesborough, Portsmouth and Bolton. Investigations are continuing into 320 transfers conducted by Premiership clubs between Jan 2004 and Jan 2006.
  7. Good idea. Teach them how to headbut.
  8. Au unimpressive 1-0 victory to England.
  9. True Bryan. But he was set up for life already. He hardly needs the pay-off from Newcastle or in fact another job. Isn't life wonderful!
  10. Black Velvet, isn't that Guinness and Champagne or to a poor man Guinness and Cider? Guinness and black was quite popular at one time. It used to leave a purple splodge in the head (and round the mouth!) Also a few years ago I remember people drinking pints of Golden. Half lager and half bitter. Does anyone still drink that?
  11. Not far from the Boatyard you will find The Royal Oak at Riley Green. They serve a fine pint of Thwaites as well.
  12. Three B's is a lovely pint. Enjoyed it many a time. Although we are not going to get a decent pint of ale at Ewood, Thwaites do a good job at places like Old Trafford as I find out when I went to the cricket last year. Lets just hope they get good staff in to serve the thirsty hordes.
  13. It might be heresy but a nice pint of Moorhouses Pendle Witch pre-match would go down very well.
  14. I think it was Jansen who was half out the door FLB. He was on his way to Rangers when Souness arrived. Souey insisted he stayed put.
  15. --> QUOTE(Ste B @ May 24 2006, 15:56 ) 410187[/snapback] Thwaites cant brew anything thats not gnats ######. Kaltenburg HELL Thwaites ale is pretty decent. Don't know anything about the lager though. Afterall, its for girls.
  16. You can have the best camera on the market, but to achieve photographs of this quality you need talent. And dillo you have bucketloads of it. You have an eye for everything that makes a good photograph. Composition (use of the rule of thirds), perspective, use of light and shade, a vocal point, in fact the lot. Well done. Have you had any formal training?
  17. I got the same call 30 minutes ago. Recorded messsage with press button 7 to speak directly to the ticket office to renew your ticket now.
  18. That can't be right. If Morten scores we always win.
  19. That is one of the funniest articles I have read in ages.
  20. The really annoying thing about it was later in the game Viduka commited a blatant hand ball, the ref gave us a freekick but no yellow card for Viduka. Consistency?
  21. According to reports in this mornings paper Saunders is in the hunt for the job at Walsall and Souness is quoted elswhere as saying he would like one last crack in management. Hmmmmm.
