No one is shifting blame. The owners have put the structure and finances into place to get us into 6th. They should have further gambled on this manager and trusted the process in January. It was a risk worth taking. Give him two or three quality Championship players and he would have stayed for 15 more games. Eustace could have left in the summer with everyone's blessing. But his head has been turned. And the easiest way to do that is with an improved offer.

I would guestimate his salary jump will be circa 5k a week. Time will tell. Of course the reason he's moving mid season to a team who have not won in ten with zero recent history of success is personal gain. Stop being so gullible. He doesn't give a shit whether Hedges or Siggy or Dolan gets a new contract. He doesnt care one iota if Travis or Batth gets an improved deal. They are work mates not family. He doesnt even care that six new players have just signed, based on us being 6th and him being manager. Imagine how they feel? He clearly doesn't care about the Rovers at all. I think it would be a very brave, interesting and exciting call to make Travis player manager for 16 games. It would unite the fans. It would unite the players. It would get everyone talking. We've nothing to lose and we should think creatively. I'm not making any mistake. Unlike you, I'm not fooliing myself he is leaving for any other reason than money. He's a grown up, he is making a commercial decision regarding his future. Yes and well said. It is definitely all about the next three months. Nothing else matters. And with that in mind we need to turn a negative into a positive. Some bland no mark like Lowe, or Harris, or Grayson, simply won't do for 15 games. More qualified managers would be acceptable if looking further ahead. But we are not. Therefore we need to make a statement or do / try something left field. Absolutely nothing to lose. Warnock or Allardyce would frighten the shit out of every other rival and show we mean business. The key thing is to unite the group which both would do. Like someone else has said its a total no brainer but completely wishful thinking. The players have given their all. We need to give them a lift. Bring in some cheap, crap option on the managerial gravy train and this season will end with a whimper immediately.

How can he discuss stability when they are in the bottom four? They can't even guarantee him Chanpionship football. They can only offer him assurances on hypothetical positions. If they could discuss salaries a week ago they could also discuss strategy. I guarantee its now about his pound of flesh and personal terms. Derby have been a mess for years. We obviously weren't nailed on for relegation as we have been top six all year. That's just guesswork about relegation fodder. We have proved otherwise, despite no strikers. Eustace united the group, focused on the defence and hard work, made us hard to beat whilst creating a very good team spirit. Nothing ground breaking, eminently sensible, the sum of the parts and all that. I also believe Travis has played a major part this year. Not just on the pitch. He enjoyed a promotion campaign with Ipswich and came back full of belief and confidence. I'm looking forward to seeing how the players respond tomorrow. We might just get a no manager bounce!

You are thinking of a longer term plan. I'm simply thinking of the next 15 games. I'm not labouring the point but many Forest fans were happy to see him go even though he got them promoted. He was despised at Leicester for obvious reasons, who granted have struggled even more of late. He only however won 2 of 12. Edwards had Luton stuck in the bottom six all this year with the parachute money. The divisions underachievers this year for sure. I'm not sure why impressed by that. Allardyce, Souness or Warnock would be exciting and interesting short term choices. Ex England. Rovers, Liverpool, Rangers, etc in fact ex everybody with Warnock.. None of which will happen of course so expect someone like O'Neil, Lowe, Edwards, Grayson, Sherwood, etc trying their best but doomed before they even start.

You mentioned Forest Green and the under 17's niko. Not much relevance to the Championship. Obviously Allardyce will not happen pal. He was the first one sacked. You have spectacularly missed the point with your 'jog on' post. Eustace is simply a pawn in the game. He's not selfishly leaving for money, or a better opportunity. He's leaving for decency, honesty and transparency. He's protecting his own sanity and professional reputation. Plus he's going somewhere he is really wanted, knows he will be supported financially and emotionally and as an added benefit he is also closer to home. Your Rob Edwards suggestion is a tad weird as well. He's had Luton marooned at the bottom of the Championship all year, even though the club were amongst the favourites and flush with money. That takes some doing. Reminiscent of the Rovers when we were relegated.
