  1. That crouched forward style, long extension and excellent follow through, great feet and movement, all with a fierce determination. Some fighter Triple G, but as you say his chin is absolutely top drawer. Believed in Brook and thought he could pull it off. Proud he went out on his feet. Looked like he trained for power and hoped to knock Golovkin out. Still IBF world champion at welterweight, but this now feels like a defining moment for Brook having championed the extra weight gain.
  2. Ok. So Abbey has had a sneaky bet, Gav and Tomphill are increasingly undecided. Brilliant! A proper fight at last. Call me patriotric, or confused, or a wishful thinker, but Kell Brook will win tonight against all the odds. I wanted Brook to beat Porter, Khan to beat Canello, Fury to beat Klitchko, AJ to beat Martin, Smith to beat Canello, Brook to beat Golovkin. Yes I want the Brits to win. All you fence sitters will give me grief tomorrow if Brook gets bounced in 4. Well believe it or not and you can check back if you want but the only fight I have called incorrectly in over 12 months is Khan v Canello. Pity I am not a betting man! Kell Brook - And the NEW.....,
  3. Boxing is booming in the UK. Genuinely believe that Brook has a very good chance and said so from day one. I am going to have a score on Brook inside four rounds. Also saw him sparring Smith. I rate Smith and didn't see anything negative. Brook took a couple of shots to the body and got clipped on his chin as you say but came back with his own shots as well. Seen a lot of complaints regarding Stub Hub and wondered how it worked. The only thing I didn't like was the ease with which Smith pushed him away. Also available on you tube about 2 minutes after the final bell. Until it gets removed about an hour later. Funny old story all that Tomps. Irregularities spotted in Feb 2015. Investigation deferred to September / October of that year. Further delayed awaiting more tests allowing the Fury / Klitschko fight to go ahead. Details published in the Mirror or Sun in June 216. Fury threatened court action against the board. Further delayed until after the re-match. Hughie Fury also under investigation.
  4. Good times following Hatton, bet that was a great trip. The build up to the Mayweather fight was good fun. I'd have bet on Hatton too for all the wrong reasons. Thought Khan had a chance and would suprise a few. Badly mistaken. This feels different even though Golovkin is better than Canello. Can't understand Brook taking the fight unless he believes he can beat up Golovkin. Brooks a winner and it's an interesting match up. Remember the full members cup, anythings possible. COYB and Brook.
  5. Brook v Golovkin. Bet your looking forward to that Tomps. Explain how Stub Hub works please when time allows. I watched all Golovkins knockouts the other day. He lifts people off their feet. Clubbing power. Brook is top drawer. But triple g is the same. Can Brook handle his power? Murray lasted till later rounds. I'm sticking to my guns and banking on him staying stood up. Brook on points.
  6. We have rarely conceded four, if ever, in any of the previous two seasons if my memory serves me correctly. Would I fancy Allardyce, Pulis, Warnock, Souness, Pearson, Lambert etc to keep us up this season with the existing squad. Yup I would bet my mortgage on it. Am I confident this oxygen sucking, money grabbing, self serving parasite will keep us up? Nope, as he will endeanger little respect or true belief amongst his charges and it is a long, hard season at this level with your backs against the wall. Whilst Venky's are of course to blame for all my recent heartaches and headaches, I personally believe that a succession of obnoxious money grabbing individuals have legally raped the club for little or no return. Both players and managers. Few can hold their heads up and state they did what it said on the tin, tried their hardest, contributed fully and earnt their huge salaries. I imagine that cycle will continue this season. Lambert, minus Hanley and a couple of loans, was supposed to get this side promoted. )) Coyle is supposed to keep us up? I am all for being even handed, but that doesn't quite stack up. .
  7. We are not nailed on for relegation. There is still some right old tosh in this division. In terms of our expenditure, even at this moment in time, we should be comfortably clear of relegation come the end of the season. We are a bad team alright, with a number of very poor players but once the season kicks in, with injuries, loss of form and suspensions you will see other very poor teams trying desperately to escape this division with poor results. With the lip licking, lying, smarmy, spin doctor at the helm, supposedly a huge improvement on the underachieving Lambert, we should be rocketing onwards under his astute guidance, especially coupled with the huge budget the owners simply couldn't trust Lambert to waste. Anyone stating we are certainties to go down, gives Coyle a reason for chronic underperformance and a get out of jail card immediately.
  8. Watched the fight again last night. Hard to pick a winner for sure and if Santa Cruz had got the verdict I wouldn't have complained. Cruz threw over 1000 punches and rarely took a step backwards. I feel a better scoring system needs to be implemented. Not because this fight was so hard to call, but due to the continued vagary amongst the referee scorecards. One judge had this fight even (which I though fair), one at 117-11 and one at 116-112.
  9. Great result for Carl Frampton. Two weight world champion. Every credit. Likeable kid and very good fighter.
  10. Decent player Bumble. Played when pitches were left uncovered mid-week, hard hats were a thing of the future, the Aussies had Thompson and Lillee and the Indies had Holding, Marshall, Croft, Garner, Patterson etc. Sh*t your pants bowlers with no helmets with variable bounce. I think I'd pass at that!
  11. Has Whyte v Allen been sanctioned? The last I heard Allen was not deemed a suitable opponent by the British boxing board of control as he has only had 10/11 fights. Santa Crus is a decent fighter. Both have speed, good feet and good hands. Don't think either can knock the other out however. Personally fancy Frampton as I rate his trainer Mcguigan very, very highly and think he will have a very good game plan for this fight.
  12. Great innings by Root. Off stump gaurd to counteract the left armers. Has so much time available and looked so much better playing straight after two cross bat dismissals in the first test. Top player. 50th - 50 for Cook in his 50th test as captain. Another top player for England.
  13. Who asked you? Yes Tomps very interesting that one. Got a feeling Smith stops him to the body late on, but Groves is a handful for anyone and Smiths chin hasn't been tested yet. Smith looks very big at the weight as well.
  14. Wise words. Smith is also defending a title. I hope he knocks his head off.
  15. You know Tomps I was sure Billy Joe Saunders would win his tital fight (opponents name escapes) and I was sure Fury would also win. Just too chicken to bet big. on a cracking double. What do you think of Liam Smith v Canello? I think Smith has a great chance in that as well. maybe my English bias clouding judgement. Ingerlaaaaandddddd
  16. Bet against Brook at your peril. He walks around at about 13 stone, so will have to come down in weight to fight anyway. The weight difference and power will not be as noticeable as Khan v Canello. Personally believe he has a very good chance and will bet on him to win if offered fair odds. Tough fight of course and a big ask. Have seen Brook sweat down to Welterweight and he looks totally drained at that weight. If he wins he is catapulted into a global star. Lose and he remains welterweight champion and one of the very best in his division. Brook will be earning in the region of 3 million for this fight. As for Eubank senior. What a total plank. Eubank junior is a top fighter and improving all the time. Brook snapped up the terms on offer, the same agreement that Froch and Joshua work to, whilst Eubank fannied about over the referee, the amount fighters on the undercard received, wanted direct control of the promotion etc. Matchroom are a big brand in sport in general but boxing, darts and snooker in particular and are very good at their jobs. Where does Junior go from here? Turned down the Billy Joe Saunders rematch and now lost out on this fight as well, Talk of him fighting the winner of Brook v GGG, but as only British Champ Brook will have far bigger fish to fry if winning. GGG is keen to promote a global brand and fight in many countries. Should he win, I doubt he would rush back for Eubank Junior. Very exciting fight indeed. Quodos to Brook.
  17. I've followed Fury for a while now, seen him be avoided by all and sundry, seen his weight baloon between fights, his salesman antics, stupid comments etc. But I've always thought of the boxer only and quietly rated him as a right old handful. Watching seasoned pros like Klitchko and Haye collapse mentally was also very interesting indeed. Credit to Chisora, another fruitcake, but hard to bully. Fury was allegedly tested for high levels of nandrolene in Feb 2015. Along with Hughie. It took till September to have a formal meeting, to conclude further investigation was required. Until now. Doesn't sound good, but I will wait till we hear more. I've a lot of time for his Uncle so I'm hoping not for the group as a whole and UK boxing. One thing is for sure bad news follows him around and he seems all over the place. Not sure why he thinks it's a good plan to act disgracefully and tarnish his brand and reputation like this. It's never dull. In fact it is dull. Very dull. We've seen it all before. I want to see clean athletes. I'm done with him if he is juiced up. I can tolerate him being a knob if fighting fairly.
  18. Fury v Klitchko cancelled. Ankle strain for Fury.
  19. Very good news indeed. I am sure he would have received other offers. He states that the relationship he had with our fans encouraged him to sign again. Good team player, focal point for the attack and someone we can build around.
  20. Yeah I am edging that way as well, younger guy, longer reach, naturally heavier. Just wondering what happens when Murray gets close and starts unloading. Different type of fighter to Froch and Jack and will pressure Groves no end. Decent fight, hard t call.
  21. Groves v Murray is very interesting indeed. Groves now trained by McGuigan who will have improved him no end. Murray is a tough lad however and I am not sure Groves can stop him, although Murray has always fought at middleweight and may be small at the higher weight. Murray stating he will take Groves into the later rounds and put it on him. Stamina issues and a tendency to lose concentration could be a problem for Groves later in this fight, although McGuigan must surely have looked to work on that with Groves. As an ex-convict, huge admiration for Murray in the way he has turned his life around. Nowhere to go for either fighter if losing. Shame really as both have come very close to the ultimate glory.
