  1. Ronnie Hildersley. Norman Bell, running in treacle. Kevin Davies. Ashley Ward. Nathan Blake. Christian Dailly. Egil Ostenstad. Darren Peacock. Grabbi. Think we paid over 15 million for Davies, Ward, Ostenstad and Blake when 15 million was a fortune.
  2. Haye has never been a true heavyweight. Blown up Cruiserweight. I think the heaviest he has ever fought at is just over 16 stone. Joshua and Whyte have just come in at 17 stone 12 for their next fights. Always liked Haye until he dodged Fury twice citing injury. Lost a lot of respect for him at that time in a fight I and he both doubted he could win. Some of his excuses and general pantomime behaviour irritated. Rumours he has waxed all his dough and that is the reason he is fighting again. Bellew doesn't take a punch well and often ends on his ass. Stevenson knocked him all over the place and although Haye has annoyed me considerably this last few years I still hope he sparks the gobby scouser out. Looking forward to Whyte v Chisora and Joshua v Melina. As Tomps says the Smith fight is also interesting as is Dave Allen against the South American big hitter. Allen is very hard to knock out. Should be interesting. Kal Yufai is another good fight as well. Hoping he makes the step up and wins.
  3. You chatting with yourself OOT? 218 behind at close of play with 4 wickets down. Draw written all over this match.
  4. Joe Root = top cricketer. One of the best I have ever seen playing for England. When playing in the Palace Shield, I was caught on the boundary. The player threw the ball up all in one motion and the ball flew backwards over the fence for 6! Amusingly the umprie ruled the catch had not been properly taken and I survived going on to make 70+. One another occasion I turned to pull a short ball and twatted forward short leg right between his eyes. I caught it sweet, it had four written all over it and I hoestly thought I had killed the guy. The ball ricocheted off his head and their lot tried to catch it. The mush fell bakwaqrds cartoon like. He thankfully re-appeared from hopsital dee into their innings later in the day with a teniis ball sized welt on his forehead. Go on Ali. Always getting us out of jail with bat and ball.
  5. H - Norwich - 1-4 - Lost - 0 H - Burton - 2-2 - Draw - 1 H - Fulham - 0-1 - Lost - 1 H - Rotherham - 4-2 - Won - 4 H - Sheff Weds - 0-1 - Lost - 4 H - Ipswich - 0-0 - Draw - 5 H - Notts Forest - 2-1 - Won - 8 H - Wolves - 1-1 - Draw - 9 8 home games - 9 points from the 24 available. 1.125 points per game. A - Wigan - 3-0 - Lost - 0 A - Cardiff - 2-1 - Lost - 0 A - QPR - 1-1 - Draw - 1 A - Leeds - 2-1 - Lost - 1 A - Derby - 1-2 - Won - 4 A - Birmingham - 1-0 - Lost - 4 A - Bristol - 1-0 - Lost - 4 7 away games - 4 points from the 21 available 0.57 points per game. 15 goals scored - 23 against - -8 goal difference 13 points from the 45 available. Shocking!!!! We are not very good at home, even though we have played a number of struggling teams. We are even worse away from home. Average points per game to date - 13 points from 15 games - 0.866 points per game. To come; Villa away - 0.57 Brentford home - 1.125 Newcastle away - 0.57 Huddersfield home - 1.125 Preston away - 0.57 I therefore confidently predict 3.96 points from our next 5 fixtures. Call it four as I am amongst friends! 13 from 15 games - plus 4 from the next 5 games. 17 points from 20 fixtures or the 60 available. Over the course of the season 0.866 points per game x 46 = 40 points. Pretty confident we will be relegated with that return!!!! They might send us down two divisions for being so pathetic. We have kept one miserable clean sheet all year against high scoring Ipswich! On the plus side.....................trying hard to be fair. After conceding 7 in two matches against Norwich and Wigan we have not conceded more than two in any other game. In the last 8 games we have won 3, lost 3 and drawn 2. 11 from 24. We have only conceeded 8 goals in those matches. This compares with 15 conceeded in the first 7 matches from which we collected 5 losses and 2 draws - 2 from 21. The Venkys business masterclass in full flow, guaranteeing a pathetic start to any season. However the Venkys latest stooge new the dance, was well aware of our problems pre-joining, took the gig on the basis that little money was available and to date has done exactly what I imagined in losing many more than we win, struggling to keep clean sheets, whilst struggling to score enough to put games to bed. Wee Coyley's return is worse than Bowyers. And worse than Lamberts. Try as I might it is hard to see any other result under Coyle than trips to Swindon, Wimbledon and Oldham next time round.
  6. Tough as old boots his opponent Tomps. Never been stopped. Won 6 from 26 I think. Hurt Fitzgerald to the body and head. And yes getting up off the deck shows some heart and a will to win.
  7. Scott Fitsgerald - Preston pro won on the undercard after being floored. 5 fights - five wins - four knockouts - floored once. Looks a decent British Title level fighter at least but wont be happy winning off the deck. A name to watch out for. Mark Bolan. Young middleweight from Eccleston near Chorley. Fought on the Crolla undercard, damaged hand ligaments but still went on to win. 2 and 0. Coached him at snooker for years and watched his progress through the amateurs were most got sparked out.
  8. I am aware our defence has been poor but still believe there are some very poor teans at this standard and a quality manager would keep us up. Coyle is getting off very lightly with minimum expectation due to enhanced focus on the owners and a lasting malaise amongst the fan base.
  9. Flores was in the sauna twice yesterday. Presumed he would struggle. Much prefer Bellew at the heavier weight. Good win for Campbell. End of the road for Derry.
  10. Yup. My belief also. Lower mid-table sounds about right recognising all the upheavel.
  11. Mmmm. Not so sure about that. Booze and drug abuse? Almost guaranteed to cause unhappiness, depression and mental health in-balance. What came first the chicken or the egg? I have a lot of time for Fury the boxer, but have run out of patience with Fury the man. It is always easy pointing the finger elsewhere but as my dad always used to remind me when pointing the finger bear in mind that three fingers point straight back at you! Am not falling for the 'feeling sorry for myself' act in place. Fancy subsequently blaming social media and negative press when actively using it to your advantage for years. I ain't crying in my milk about Fury's supposed problems, that have only seemingly manifested themselves since Nandrolene was allegedly found in his system and he made ridiculous comments about Jews, Homosexuals and other minority groups. His lifestyle has not been condusive to professional sport and this sounds like a convenient cop out to me. I appreciate this post isn't overly politically correct in the current climate, but I do not believe the current convenient spin. Genuine mental health problems are very serious indeed and cause major unhappiness and upset for those affected and also those charged with caring for those afflicted. You don't treat mental health problems with booze and cocaine. Simple as that.
  12. After Fury's retirement and subsequent u-turn the champion's legal representative, Lewis Power QC, said: "Tyson Fury’s recent startling mixed comments on social media as to his retirement and later as to retraction of such we hope can be seen in the light of recent events ; his belief that he has been subjected to constant harassment, hounding by social media and commentators, and his ongoing disputes with certain sporting bodies. It is unsurprising that someone who is in such a vulnerable mental state would be pushed to such bizarre behaviour. "He has recently been diagnosed as suffering from a major depressive illness. He has commenced a current and recommended treatment protocol. "He needs time to benefit from treatment and a chance to recuperate fully. "These comments are paradoxically and effectively symptomatic of his seeking to end all the mounting pressure on him due to his state of mind and are indicative of a coping mechanism deu to the deterioration in his mental health. "The hound of depression is more fierce than any opponent and Tyson’s struggle with his demons is now the biggest fight of his life. "We would appreciate everyone to respect his privacy and give him the necessary time and space in order to recover."
  13. Mmmm. I do keep sticking my neck out. In a two horse race you'd think id get the odd one right. Congrats to Cleverley. Strange old ending. Anyone seen the Parker fight? Another strange ending.
  14. From the BBC. Dundee boxer Mike Towell is in a "critical condition" in hospital after becoming unwell at a bout at Glasgow's Radisson Blu Hotel on Thursday night. Towell, 25, suffered a fifth-round loss to Dale Evans in a St Andrews Sporting Club fight and was rushed to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Club officials and the boxer's family were at his bedside through the night. "All of our thoughts and prayers are with Mike and the Towell family at this very difficult time," said a spokesman. "Mike Towell is in a critical condition in Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth hospital after his fifth-round defeat in the British welterweight title eliminator with Dale Evans at the club last night. "Club director Iain Wilson and Mike's manager, Tommy Gilmour, travelled with him in the ambulance after the fight and have been at his bedside through the night with his family. "We took the immediate decision to suspend last night's show in the wake of Mike's contest." Evans, from Carmarthen, wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday night that his "celebrations were on hold".
  15. Bit of a joke Cleverley getting another shot. Really dislike him. Can't see him knocking anyone out, can't see him winning on points over there either.
  16. Very nice fighter Linares and he deserved the win. Unfortunately for Crolla he has always had to substitute what he lacks in raw talent with hard work. That often shows at the highest levels. He is honest enough to admit that and has been a breath of fresh air this last three years or so, working hard to improve, acting professionally and winning a number of tough looking fights and a version of the world title. Talking of acting professionally, good old Tyson. Tremendous representative of boxing and the UK in general. No idea what he is playing at, but now he's alienating even those who tolerated his nuances.
  17. BJS has really irritated me though his blatant inactivity, cradling his title, unwillingness to fight triple G, and all the social media BS on IFL TV.
  18. I wonder if the owners can find the ground for that one?
  19. The levels really show at boxing. Simply no hiding place.
  20. With Khan and Brook maybe. But I really thought Smith had a good chance. Fought well, gave his all, credit to Canello.
  21. Wish these British lads would stop getting beat. Smith dropped by body shots. Interesting really as Jimmy Kelly hurt Smith to the body a couple of times as well and I had wondered if body shots would tell in this fight. Wish Froch would come back. It was good knowing our guy would still be stood up 12 rounds later.
  22. I was wrong about Khan and Brook, but Smith is not a blown up Welterweight. Still feeling patriotic and letting it cloud my views. Smith to stop him to the body in the 10th round.
  23. Bad night for Eddie Hearn. Three world titles, three defeats.
  24. 117 - 111, 116 - 112, 115 - 113. Personally thought Hall won. He kept coming forward, won most of the rounds after 5 and looked fresher at the end. Neither genuine world class although both have held titles. Both lack a decisive punch.
  25. A bit deceptive only following boxing on Sky Khod. You end up thinking only the Matchroom lads are any good or at a decent level. Loads of good boxers out there with limited opportunities. Impressed with how boxing has gone to the fans via social media. Behind the scenes access and comment from the main players co-ordinated to benefit all. Football could learn a few pointers from boxing's current promotional strategy.
