v Portsmouth (a) - 13/12/25
onlyonejackwalker replied to Elrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They struggle to score, we struggle to keep clean sheets. Their form isn't great, our away form is good. We struggle to score two. Im predicting a score draw. 1-1. Which is not a lot of use to either of us. We most certainly don't want to lose, nor experience a 96th minute calamity. COYB. -

Why did it take until the shit was truly hitting the fan for us to start playing attritional cricket? We lost 6 wickets in 32 overs. Then Stoke and Jacks put on 96 in 37 overs. Stokes scored 50 from 150, Jacks 41 from 92. They survived 3 hours, left a lot alone, only drove at half volleys, played mostly on the floor. I don't agree this is a poor Australian team. We aren't seriously testing them and they've got gears to go up in my view. This is the culmination of two or three years of sloppy, slapdash cricket. You can't suddenly refine your technique against the very best. It was probably worth the gamble trying to transport one day cricket into the test arena. But enough is enough. Th8s series is over afyer 6 days of cricket. Its been entertaining at times, but only because Root has dug in and rescued us time and time again. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. .... Well done to Crawley this test. He is obviously not an opener, but the test selectors know better than me. I don't dislike him as a batsmen, just hate him opening. I'd love to see him at 5 or 6 against tired bowlers and an older ball. If his aversge still remained at 30, then bin him for good. Robin Smith averaged nearly 50 in home tests and over 40 when jettisoned. Because he struggled against spin. Why not give him 30 extra tests to work it out? What a bad decision that was, poor bloke. RIP big man. -

Firstly, catch your catches, win your matches. Second, stop wafting outside off stump with zero foot movement. Third, pitch it up, hitting the top of off stump. Fourth, play each ball on its merits. Five, occupy the crease, protect your castle. Six, take the shine off the ball, tire out the bowlers. Seven, play straight. Eight, hit the ball on the ground. Nine, adapt to match circumstamces. Ten, (see number one) support your bowlers. -

Results not currently going well elsewhere, so another away win would be very pleasing. -
Historically a business was valued at 3.5x its yearly profits. That grew in some instances to 6x its profits post covid. We lose circa 20 million per year. Whatever you pay, add 400k a week on immediately if buying the Rovers. The decent thing would be to release the club at no charge to someone willing to fund the debt and invest.

Fans have spent thousands for a five day match. No guarantees of that, but less than two days on a decent wicket? Now theyve got to go sight seeing in Perth. We always had run a ball players like Gower, Botham, KP, Bairstow, etc. But they played like that naturally. Forcing others to emulate isn't helpful. Playing away is hard whatver the sport. You need an effective plan that minimises home advantage. -

Shit or bust, all or nothing, win or lose, kamikazee knockabout two effing days codswallop. I was a Rovers fan in the 70's, an England cricket fan watching Haynes, Greenidge, Richards, Lloyd, Marshall, Garner, Croft, Holding, Roberts in the 80's, the Atherton years, the Graham Taylor years, the Steve Mclaren years, the Sven years, the Nasser Hussain years, the Venky years. I don't mind losing. I'm USED to it. What i do mind is gifting victory to the opposition at a professional level. Two fucking days. Seriously??? We've got to be better than that. Crawley 60 tests averaging just over 30. Its mind boggling how he keeps his job. Driving on the up not moving his feet time and time and time again when he has just walked to the crease. Against the worlds best. Thick as pig shit. Root and others also. Players caught behind, or in the deep hooking. Hooking!!!! Why can't we just leave anything not on the stumps? And duck? Its so frustrating. Gav, you'd be going mental if Rovers were 5-0 down before half time. Then recovering to 5-4, but ending up losing 14-7. Even if we did win 10-2 one week against some abject mess at home. A five day test over in two days. It's cowardly. Thats what it is. Cowardly and spineless, spun and parcelled as brave and couragious for the unwitting and foolhardy. -

Enjoyable night out. We thoroughly deserved the win. North End didnt turn up. Two or three stand out performers with Tronstad dominant, but credit to all. This division must be amongst the most absorbing and hardest to predict in world football. -

There is no point kidding ourselves. We are in serious trouble this year. We have lost and not replaced four or five solid Championship players, we lack structure, physicality, pace and creativity. And most importantly, leaders. We struggle to score and not concede. We look weak in all departments. I always worry when we are getting turned over at home. I dont think we've got the heart for what lies ahead. -

1-0 come on Rovers. -
Here we go again. I'm here. Not excited, not confident, no anticipation, hopes or expectations. No affinity to any player, the manager, club management, or the owners. Not even to the ground, with all its legacy. But i have respect, love and friendship for everyone of you. Truly I do. Because you are also here. And like me, you give everything and can change nothing. WIn, lose, or draw. It doesn't matter. What matters is we are all here and will be forever. That's magical and truly inspirational. I hhope we win for everyone of you.

2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
onlyonejackwalker replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Gone are the days of 11 regular starters and two regular subs playing all season. With 5 or 6 that rarely get a look in. In fact it's remarkable looking back that you could confidantly pick the same team week in, week out. They are all squad players now. Some are better and play more than others. The ones that play less are back ups to the ones that play more. Our best run of form last year came with a very settled side. Even though our keeper, Hedges, Dolan and the strikers were getting a lot of flak. -

5 defeats, then 4 wins on the bounce! This has to be the craziest division in world football. Can we beat Sheff United away? They looked good at Ewood and deserved the win. -

Unfortunately it's completely out of our hands so I'm not overly excited. We've shown a lot of courage and determination at times this season. And badly collapsed at others. It's anyone's guess. -

onlyonejackwalker replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I can't remember ever scoring four goals from defence / defensive midfield before! Can anyone else? I don't remember Rathbone and Branagan bagging many! Well done to all involved. Frustrating that's its come so late when the pressure is off, but losing every week wasn't healthy. Along with Batth, Brittain and Travis, Tronstad must be a contender for player of the season. He was superb before his injury and I am pleased for him today. To feel non-plussed about the Rovers is a weird emotion after a lifetimes investment. -
v Millwall (h) - 18/4/2025
onlyonejackwalker replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's done and dusted. Shame really, but other than the odd game we have been very poor from mid-December onwards. Too many players overworked, too many injuries, too many individual errors, culminating in too many below par performances and too many dropped points. Easily our best chance for success as the league has been so poor this season. Our biggest problem being the lack of goals we have scored. I can't see it, but i wouldn't mind both Millwall and Bristol City getting in the play offs at the expense of Boro, Coventry, West Brom etc. -

Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
onlyonejackwalker replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm seriously thinking about not renewing. My mate and my son also. I enjoyed our organisation and fight under Eustace, but it was turgid stuff at times. Forget Duff and Tugay, it wasn't a patch on watching Scotty Sellars, Garner and Gayle. -
Valérien Ismaël: Former Head Coach
onlyonejackwalker replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The three stooges didn't stop him getting us in the top six all season. They just couldn't give him an extra 10k a week. He's currently doing well at Derby, but that can change. He's gone, you've just got to deal with it. The three stooges did however recruit this total plank and what is astounding is that no one seems to give a toss about how our season has totally disintegrated. Apart from us lot. -

I've not seen those comments regarding Lowe. But internal politics, empire building, self protection and straight forward bitchiness are rife in football. More than any other industry I have worked in. -

onlyonejackwalker replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I explained Eustace left for money. Rumoured to be 12k a week more. That was it. I'm not sure why that is confusing you. If he keeps Derby up and a Premier League team comes in for him he will be off like a shot. But that is completely irrelevant to us recruiting Ismael. We still had a brilliant opportunity to attack the rest of the season.
